This spot is incredible, and we’ll definitely be back. My stranger danger dog had a blast being able to relax with a very private spot and the swimming hole is a dream. It does get damp up in the camp overnight so definitely be ready to dry things out or not leave things out overnight. Bathrooms were clean and pleasant to use.

Great campsite!
Very private campsite with an amazing location.
This site has one of the best swimming holes I have ever swam in at any campsite I’ve been to just upstream.
Compost toilets were not a problem and didn’t have a smell after we spent 4 days here.
We will dolphinately be coming back to this site.

Site was as advertised, so no complaints there. Site was clean with nice, level spots to set up a tent. We appreciated the covered picnic table, although we never actually sat at it because the table was so much higher than the seats.
Biggest pro of the site for us was the privacy. No other sites around and we had that whole section of the river to ourselves. I'm sure if the weather was hot, the river and swimming hole would have been a plus. Unfortunately, the weather for us was lousy so swimming just sounded miserable, especially with no fire (burn ban) or hot shower to come back to. The kids tried to float that section of the river on their tubes, but they only lasted 30 minutes before they were too cold.
We had planned on going down the road to the state park to shower and get water. Unfortunately, when we got there the showers were closed for water conservation and water was restricted to campers only.
Host was very responsive and accommodating. For us, the only negative is this site was not a very good value. Because we couldn't have a fire and it was too cold to swim, we had no reason to stay at camp. So we ended up driving to the beach or town all day and only coming back to camp to sleep. For the price we paid, we may as well have rented lodging. My only suggestion (for all camp hosts) is to discount the nightly rate during a burn ban. The inability to have a campfire severely limits the value of any campsite.

Otter River Camp
We really enjoyed this quiet spot along the Bogachiel River. River access is strait off the campsite, immediately taking you out to a series of gentle rapids. We enjoyed watching wildlife and hanging out by the water, almost completely undisturbed by others. The compost toilets were the cleanest and nicest I’ve ever seen. And while the picnic table was built for giants, I appreciated that it was covered and constructed solidly. Beware of the big dip when you turn into the driveway from the road. Otherwise, an ideal campsite.

We loved this place. Beautiful, peaceful, and private. Kid and dog loved playing by the river all day (unfortunately it was too cold to swim but the swimming hole looks amazing.) Composting toilets were so much nicer than campground vault toilets. Would come here again!

This was a perfect site for our older kids and two dogs. It was like having an entire camping ground to yourself. Extremely well-kept and yes- the compost toilets are GREAT. Swam at the swimming hole up the river and it was hands down my favorite part of the trip. Tons of room, privacy, and easy access to head out to different areas of the gorgeous Olympic National Park and nearby ocean beaches. Saw cute little frogs, tadpoles, and an elk herd just up the road. Absolutely will visit here again.

We had an amazing time with our two dogs here for a long weekend. Right on the river which made it so easy to have a relaxing time. Plus only a 10-15 minute drive to town incase you forgot something for the trip. Would definitely stay here again.

This is such a magical place! Probably the best swimming hole I've ever seen, easy to access and calm water. There is a section from the swimming hole to just past the site that was perfect for dogs and kids because it was shallow enough on either end they couldn't get swept away but enough little "rapids" as they called them in between to make it fun and safe. The covered area is perfect and great for cooking. The site was very clean and would for sure love to come back soon!

This is an incredible, private, riverside camp. There were multiple nooks for our tents, a hand (chainsaw?) hewn covered picnic table and benches around our (propane fire pit because burn ban). The swimming hole was a short distance upstream and was deep and wide, with a giant slab of rock and a mixture of sun and shade to bask in. We were lucky enough to catch some salmonberries and thimbleberries. The kids found a few crawdads and set them free. We made it out to La Push one day, but honestly, would have been perfectly content chilling at the site the whole time!

This site is one of the best we've ever stayed at. Plenty of room for multiple tents, super private and quiet; having access to the river for swimming and fishing was a huge bonus. We will definitely be coming back!

We had the best weekend to kick off our camping season. The camp site was quiet, private and the perfect size. We appreciated the 3 compost toilets as well! We will definitely be planning more trips back.

Beautiful campsite. The river is incredible and it feels so private; the swimming hole is incredible. We even saw some river otters enjoying it one morning before we arrived! Would absolutely return.

It was an absolutely incredible space with a great swimming hole and river bank to explore. Unfortunately we had some record rainfall, but we hope to be back when it's a little drier! The outhouses were amazing with zero smell or bugs... loved the compost idea. Can't wait to plan our next trip!

Wow, this site is really incredible. Lots of space, great fire pit, large table, and composting toilets! The icing on the cake is falling asleep to the sound of the river every night. We will most definitely be back!

Loved our time here and the whole family had an incredible experience. Clear directions, the coolest privy’s and there are 3! Awesome huge fire pit and most of all it’s completely private. My dogs had a great time and I didn’t need to worry ☺️ The river spot was beautiful an had some lounging areas made by circling stones. The swimming whole was way cooler then we thought it would be and very close walk. Jesse was an excellent host, extremely responsive and even let us check in early. We will be back!

Camping at the Bogie River Otter Site was awesome! A beautiful spot on the river with an epic swimming hole. The site was well constructed and beautifully maintained. The whole party was impressed with the composting toilets.

I ended up really loving the spot. It is on the river, and the swimming hole is as promised just a short walk up the road. I think what I liked about it the most is that it was incredibly private and we didn't see anyone else on the river or even walking by while there.

Well kept spacious spot full of character, I love what the owner has done to the property! Unfortunately the rain dampened our 2 day stay but we made it work. I hope to book again earlier in the year when sunshine is expected. We also absolutely loved the privacy it definitely sets it apart from other sites!

We had a great stay at Jesse's camp - the riverside location is pretty perfect and the swimming hole was lovely. It has everything you need for a stress free stay (3 composting toilets, fire pit, covered picnic table, trash service(!)) including a number of campsite options. It was also within easy access to the Hoh and the coastal beaches. One thing to note is that, being next to a river, the soil is very sandy and there's a moderate amount of condensation overnight, so it's good to be prepared to deal with that. I'd happily book again, and hopefuly bring more people next time!

This was one of the best Hipcamps I have stayed at!! Incredibly private and off-leash dog friendly.
Easy water access. I brought my paddle board and achored it to shore and was able to float with ease.
Three sturdily built compost toilets. Great picnic table and fire pit.
My dog and I can't wait to return!

We had a great time at Jesse’s spot! Were perfectly comfortable with 4 tents / 2 cars. The river is gorgeous, and honestly, so is the composting toilet. Total hit! Jesse was responsive and gave us great directions. Can’t recommend it enough.

We loved it!! Peaceful, quiet, and beautiful section of river. Found the swimming hole, but decided to save the swim for next summer, as it was only about 62 degrees! Thank you for the firewood. Our dogs and son enjoyed exploring the river bank.

I typically hate camping, but this site was amazing. There were three of us, four dogs, & two cars. My dogs could be off leash & run free. Toilet was charming, oddly enough. I loved the smell of cedar in there. The fire pit & table area were so convenient. The swimming hole was one of the best parts along w/ the owner’s dogs paying us several visits :) my boyfriend & I miss camping here already. I would go back! That says a lot for me.
