Favorite Oklahoma Camping Spot

My second time out here and I am just in love with this spot. The little creek was dried up this time which is expected during this season, but when there’s water in it there a lovely little waterfall! The rock ledge along the river is a perfect spot for fishing or just relaxing. Perfect hammock spots are everywhere. The firepit surrounded by huge rocks is so relaxing. There is so much space to spread out. And the water access for kayaks is so convenient. So thankful that these folks have opened up their property to share with other people.

Beautiful backdrop. Great camping setup. Running water and electric. Grounds are very well maintained. This part of the river had tons of algae flowing through. None of us felt comfortable swimming, especially after reading about all of the pollution in the waterway from the chicken farms up river. However, none of that is the host fault. On our date of arrival, there was a massive amount of thunderstorms that popped up in the area. Typical Oklahoma. Since we were tent camping with littles we didn’t feel comfortable coming in on that day. We asked Tyson if we could get a refund for that night, or allow us to use that night another time. He refused, citing the hipcamp policy. However I was quickly able to locate the Hipcamp host policies which clearly state that the host has discretion to issue a refund by simply emailing the Hipcamp customer service. We are very sad that Tyson opted not to exercise this discretion considering it’s $100 a night, and that these storms came out of nowhere. We were literally on our way to the site and ended up turning around because of the lightning/weather. We won’t book here again on principal and strongly encourage anybody booking this site to have a crystal ball or some sort of magical way to anticipate whether in Oklahoma, Because Tyson will absolutely not extend any grace.

Gorgeous spot!! Perfect rock ledge for chilling, fishing, or launching the kayak! Gorgeous property with plenty of room for multiple tents to be spread out and not on top of each other. Fire pit for relaxing in the evening. Plenty of firewood! Gorgeous waterfall on the property if the water is low enough. Very private. We felt very safe. Limited traffic on the river even on a holiday weekend! Non potable water on property but low pressure. 120v outlet is good for charging up phones and tent fans. Love this place!!
