Welcome to Cane Creek Holler, comprising 25+ acres of mountainous terrain, a camping area, "classroom" and cooking pavilion. Stunning sunrises and sunsets, visits from turkeys, hawks, deer and all manner of native wildlife, create a peaceful natural environment that is 10 minutes from Western Carolina University and all the amenities the town of Sylva has to offer. Leaf looking, waterfall hikes, access to Cherokee and the Great Smokey Mountains National Park, and a range of rivers and lakes, national forest lands, and wilderness/recreation areas for hiking, mountain biking, paddling, rafting, and sightseeing. An hour from Asheville Regional Airport and the Biltmore, this location offers something for everyone. Come and enjoy a unique spot "away from it all" and "in the middle of everything".The property is quite steep, and hosts several short hiking trails as well as a 4WD road creekside for a 3-mile out-and-back. It tumbles down to its southern border in the middle of Cane Creek, a designated trout water that runs directly into the Tuckaseigee River, renowned for fly fishing in the southeastern US. Cane Creek Rd runs through the property and quickly turns into an unmaintained state throughway, crossing the creek 4 times on the way up to the nearest development 1.5 miles away. It hosts a gravel tent area, big enough for 4-6 tents. Hammock-tenting is welcome further up the hill. Car campers/van campers have several options, both in the parking lot and creekside. Pavilion for outdoor cooking with single electric eyes, and a kitchen kit when requested (for an additional fee). Showers, toilets, refrigerator, microwave, coffee pot and hot water urn included for your convenience. Open wi-fi in and around the classroom building.

A GREAT place to stay while taking wilderness medicine and other courses at Landmark Learning. Will definitely repeat. A beautiful, comfortable and wonderful place to stay any time. Mairi is a very responsive and kind hostess and we had everything we needed to enjoy our stay. We camped in our roof-top tent in the gravel parking lot, For tent campers— it is a small hike up to the tent camp area, also on rock/gravel, in a beautiful setting. It is bear country, so plan to keep all food/etc in your locked car or in the classroom up the hill, and lock all trash away in the bear-safe trash cans. No food for the bears — no problema for everyone!

We were looking for a private place to camp where we could enjoy the outdoors. This was the right place! No one else was even there, so we had the shower house and kitchen area all to ourselves. The children loved going up and down the steps and exploring the trails. The constant water music from the creek was so relaxing!

We loved tent camping at Mairi’s place! It was a perfect spot - we really appreciated the creature comforts (flush toilets, hot showers, refrigerator, etc) to go along with a great tent site. We didn’t use any of the cooking items but we did have a great fire in the solo stove provided. It was so quiet - the rushing water was the main sound. We’d love to come back!

Location a facilities are just what I needed when visiting my WCU student for a week. It’s more than just a campground. Outdoor pavilion, WiFi and showers made my remote work and off time more manageable. This is the top of my list for future visits.

We loved our tent camping experience at the Cane Creek Holler Tent City site! Mairi was a phenomenal host, we received clear directions upon arrival, Mairi was also generous enough to include places to eat, activities and others in the welcome packet! WiFi was included with the site which was a welcomed extra due to limited cell service. The site was breathtaking with beautiful ridgetop views and a flowing creek right next to the site…… absolutely stunning! The site had a covered meal prep area as well as picnic tables. There was also hot showers, microwave and a “classroom” that we used as a shelter from the chilly nights! We will most definitely be back! Highly, highly recommend! 5 stars for sure!

The site was easily found, when I shortly stopped to double check the directions. The friendly neighbours walked down and pointed me in the right direction. Solo fire stove was ready for me to use but weekend plans changed slightly and I spend all nights off-camp in sylva and dillesboro. Rode my mountain bike during the day on the nearby fire mountain trails in Cherokee and the WCU trails Cullowhee. Accommodation was nice and clean.

This was a fantastic place to stay. We enjoyed every minute of this million star resort. Facilities were excellent, campsite was clean and inviting.

Our host was very welcoming upon arrival. We were given a tour of the grounds. There are great facilities here, hot showers, clean bathrooms and WIFI. Everything was advertised and we would book here again. Thanks for the stay!
