Located just one hour from Sydney, our property features 19 acres of pure serenity with two dams full of yabbies! The back of the property is perfect for camping and suitable for a small caravan/camper. The larger dam has a picnic area and kayaks available to paddle on. Adjoining our property is Nattai National Park with a lovely 20 minute walk down to Little River. The Aqua Pool Trail in the National Park is just gorgeous. We welcome self-contained campers who bring their own camping toilet/shower. You must have your own amenities. There is access to drinking water and rubbish facilities on site. Our property is 2WD accessible and can accommodate small caravans and camper trailers. Not far from Buxton is Thirlmere where the Steam Train Museum is and train rides are available on the weekends, a great activity for the kids. Thirlmere Lakes National Park is perfect for a relaxing picnic, walk, birdwatching, and glimpse into locomotive history. Pets are welcome. There's a range of different bushwalking trails in the region, including Starlights trail, a scenic bushwalk suited to experienced hikers, which forms part the Greater Blue Mountains trail network between Mittagong and Katoomba.

Stayed 1 night for a getaway from the city. Kim was super welcoming and recommended a lovely dog friendly pub in near by picton. The site itself has a nice walk down to a quiet creek where you can swim. It’s a great place to stay!

Amazing spot!!

Great sites, loads of space! Loved having access to the dam and the kayaks. Kim was absolutely lovely and super accommodating, showed us to our site and provided us with a little wood, fire pit and some water. Little pop up ensuite tent with composting toilets nearby. The walk to the river is a must, was absolutely beautiful and the water was lovely. Will definitely be back for a longer stay! Couldn’t fault a thing!

Amazing! The hosts are amazing! Kim is lovely and go's above and beyond for her guests, we have already booked again, there are kayaks to use, multiple swimming spots and spectacular views. Our dogs and cat all enjoyed their time and so did we!

Ten our of ten. Host communicated well, were kind and generous. The site is level, very large and beautifully framed by eucalyptus trees. Host provide water, some wood and toilets. The walk to little River is a must do. Really enjoyed swimming in the water hole. Will try and come again and hope to stay longer next time.

Fantastic!

We (2 adults, 2 kids and a dog) had a fantastic eight-night stay thanks to Kim, her hospitality and lovely bush-property. There is a beautiful national park next door with abundant flora and fauna. The children loved the play equipment and the swimming hole down in the gully. There is a Woolworths and Aldi about 10 minutes away so there is no need to bring everything in the car. We can't wait to visit again. Thanks Kim!

Awesome spot

What an awesome spot, very close to Sydney and Wollongong, but still felt miles away from anywhere. Secluded spots next to Dan for swimming or kayaking. (kayaks even supplied), firewood and water supplied also, Kim is a fantastic super friendly, host very welcoming. We will certainly be back.

Fantastic spot, private, felt like the bush, just out of Sydney. Kids loved the dam, the 25 min hike to the river was so worth it. Only a 1 hour drive to the beach. Plenty of firewood, our dog loved it and we will definitely be returning. Spent 6 days at Kim's. Toilet kept spotless and water was refilled. Kids loved basketball and feeding the horse.

Kim is an incredible host. The site was well maintained but most importantly the hospitality was second to none. I took my dog there and she loved the place. The campsite provided was spacious and the activities available are perfect for families. This was my first time here and I couldn't speak more highly of it

Serenity near Sydney

We had an amazing stay at Kim's property! She is a very thoughtful, considered host and we wanted for nothing. Great walks nearby, seclusion, large and private sites, and super clean compostible toilets. Kim has clearly put lots of thought, care and effort into her guests experience and we truly appreciated how amazing it was to stay here. We recommend the walk to the river as suggested by Kim, and had such a peaceful and relaxing time. We highly, highly recommend you book your next stay here. You will not be disappointed!! Camping in the bush

A very friendly welcome from Kim. Her communication was great. The campsites were spread out and in the bush. Lovely big sites with good views. Kim has really made a tremendous effort to provide activities and facilities for campers. I would definitely recommend a stay.

The Secret Getaway - Buxton

Great spot, easy access to the NP, feels remote but not far from town. There's a couple of nice swimming holes along the Little River Trail about 20 Min from site. Kim was friendly and hospitable, compost toilets well maintained. Brazier provided along with limited amount of firewood and water, plenty of wood to collect yourself.

Really enjoyed camping here. Natural, quiet environment but with conveniences and a town close by. Kim was very friendly and obliging. Excellent communication. Great to have a fire pit and toilet facility. We will be back .

Absolutely loved our time at Secret Getaway. The campsites were spaced out well so you felt you had privacy and the scenery looking over the dam was amazing. The hosts were super approachable and helpful, even offering us usage of their shed when we got stuck in a downpour. Would definitely return in the future.

Great spot

Couldn’t recommend this trip more, the site itself with the dams was excellent, the hosts were super friendly and accomodating + there’s the added bonus of the fresh water creak and jump rocks just a short walk away in the national park. We stayed over New Years and I couldn’t recommend it enough. Thank you

Dogfriendly camping

The perfect getaway to recharge and relax. Our Campsite ( there are only 5 so it is very private if need to be) was located directly on the small dam, perfect for kids and dog...out of the tent and into the water. Although looking very sunny and exposed when arriving at midday , afternoon and morning shade were perfect for our tent to still be comfortably cool in the morning... Apart from the 2 dams with kayaks in the bigger one for everyone to use, there is a 20 - 30 min walk to the river in the national park. Although announced exhausting at return, the steep return walk was quick and not that challenging as expected ...but have proper shoes. Both dams have an abundance of yabbies and they are so easy to catch with some raw meat on a fishing line...my son spent every free minute catching them and have some for dinner. Kim and Darren are the perfect hosts. Friendly, up for a chat and not short of recommendations what is available to do around in the area. Kim has a few beautiful horses and came around with the one to have a little guided ride... Toilets provided are clean and well maintained. 100% satisfaction...

Incredible place, plenty of privacy and great walking track down to the river. Kayaks available to be used in the dam, there are toilet facilities, plenty of wood around for a nice fire and Kim & Darren even brought around their horse for our little one to have a ride in. Very warm & hospitable couple.
