Steve and Chris’s yard was a great spot to stay, it’s close enough to get back to small towns but far enough for some seclusion (although 2 hr is just a quick drive in my mind) we loved exploring the north maine woods and coming back to a private site where the dog could swim and we could sit back and watch the sunset.

Absolutely a slice of heaven, and trust me, the view and peaceful setting is WELL worth it once you get there!! But bring your patience, and a spare tire for the dirt road you pay for (more so if you’re hauling a camper) to reach serenity. We traveled 8 hours to experience the beauty Chris & Steve are so happy to share with everyone! They weren’t kidding when they say driving too fast on the dirt road can result in a flat:(. The Golden Rd kicked our camper’s butt, but in the end, we still won!! ;) Thankfully we knew how to change it, and every person who saw us pulled over made sure we were ok. Once we arrived, we couldn’t get over the breathtaking view of the Mountains, especially Katahdin, one of our favorites!! We didn’t even have to get out of our camper to watch sunrise, it was magic!! Breakfast sure did taste better with the sun rising over the mountains…Ahhh…. We took full advantage of the fire pit with the well-seasoned wood provided every day, and as the week went on, finally decided to take the kayaks they also so generously provide, for a spin on the lake. The water temperature was unexpectedly warm (Aug4-9) and we went in multiple times a day. The bathroom was one of the cleanest ones we’ve been in, so that was a huge plus! It was such a treat to hear the loons. So awesome!! Also got to see a mama duck and her chicks on the beachfront. Absolutely adorable!!

What a great spot to come and unwind! We had such a great time as a family 4 kiddos and one 4 legged one and we had zero complaints anyone was bored while we were there!! Lovely swimming great fishing overall just fantastic! If your look to get away from it all and disconnect and unwind this is the place for you! Host were awesome with their communication and quick to repond ☺️

One of our best camping experiences. Amazing views, serene atmosphere & total nature submersion. Waking up and hearing the lake crashing slightly on the shore with distant loon calls, and sun rising over the distant mountains is such a treat. The lake smells clean and leaves you feeling fresh every time you leave. It’s a great unplugged getaway, just you & nature. Great spots around the area for exploring, fishing, paddle boarding and looking for wildlife.
All around amazing.
Plan to arrive in a bumpy-dirt-road appropriate vehicle.

Driving out to this campsite was an adventure! By chance, we actually drove by Steve and Chris on our way, who were so kind and double checked to make sure that we knew where we were going. The views were well worth it. It was one of those experiences where the pictures truly cannot capture how beautiful it is! Plenty of fire wood was provided and the restroom was incredibly clean. It was amazingly quiet and peaceful all weekend. We heard a few cars drive by throughout the day on Saturday, but it did not take away from how quiet it was. To our surprise, we only briefly saw two boats out on the water after a passing rain shower resulted in an amazing rainbow over the lake. Our only regret is not booking a longer stay!!
Thank you, Steve and Chris, for sharing your beautiful property with us. It far exceeded our expectations and our two dogs were in heaven!!

For the 3rd year in a row, Steve and Chris were amazing hosts, even letting us shift our dates a few days ahead for better weather! This spot is perfect for anyone looking to REALLLYYY get away from it all. You are 100% off grid, no cell reception for over an hour drive. And, you can’t beat the view!

What a stay! Campsite is in front of the bunk house and right off the water. Such beautiful views🤩 nice and quiet and had a blast exploring the golden road, seeing wildlife, swimming and having plenty of campfires thanks to all the wood provided. Thank you Chris & Steve, we’ll be back!!

This was our second trip here. Caribou Lake is THE PERFECT place for kayaking as a family. The moon rise here is part of the reason we came back. There’s nothing like it. Take it in from a provided kayak or maybe bring your own canoe. It’s quite the drive from the nearest store, (45-50 mins) so plan to come prepared. Great spot for bird watchers. Loons, hawks, eagles and ducks having a ball. We plan to return in the next year or two as it’s a 5.5 hour drive for us. Worth it

A beautiful location right on the lake! The hosts were responsive to all questions, an 8-person tent was available and spacious, a propane grill was provided along with a picnic table, fire pit and other seating. There are a lot of things to do in the area and the hosts graciously provided information for local attractions. The bathroom/outhouse was very clean as well. We absolutely loved our stay and plan for a return visit! Great hosts, amazing location if you're looking to unplug and get away!

What a wonderful getaway! An awesome spot for people who want to completely disconnect. We cooked every meal over the campfire and saw moose, a lynx, bald eagles, and loons!

Amazing view with great tent site and fire pit with ample wood. So many little details: maps, fire starters, propane grill, kayaks. Clean outhouse! The sure was well maintained, and the lake was wonderful. We could’ve just stayed here all week!

The site was beautiful! We had a great time camping there for two nights. There was very minimal light pollution, it was easy to find with the directions provided. The site was right on the water, which was a blast with the kayaks they provided, and our dog loved it. And the outhouse was very clean and nicely made.
There was multiple areas to sit and relax and a nice cooking grill over the fire.
We all enjoyed our time and enjoyed seeing a moose on the way to the camp! Highly recommend for a nice, peaceful get away. (None of us saw any ticks which made this an even more peaceful experience!)

This property is absolutely beautiful. It is peaceful, serene, and delightfully secluded. I was very grateful for all of the provided supplies (firewood, matches, a tent, etc.). You never know how badly you'll need those things until you really need them! The hosts also provided thorough directions and helpful information.
This place is a perfect example of a getaway. I would 1000% recommend this property to anyone that likes to camp and doesnt mind to disconnect.

The mountain and lake views were unparalleled, as was the wildlife - eagles and loons were abundant. While plenty of quietness was found when walking along the beach, the campsite itself (the front yard of the owner's lake cabin) is off a short driveway to a busy road. We were concerned about our dogs and surprised at the routine traffic noise from cars (and a couple trucks) going back and forth, particularly during 3 to 7PM, but some sporadic car traffic continued until 9PM and a one or two in the middle of the night, on our first day there (the Tuesday after Labor Day Monday), less of an issue on Wednesday, but still noticeable.
The outhouse, propane grill, and fire circle amenities were wonderful and we saw more stars than we ever have in our lives. A beautiful area!

Awesome slice of Earth in the Great North Woods. Most incredible moonrises and sunrises I've seen in a long time, if ever! Great to have access directly to the lake with included kayaks and life preservers. Abundant wood and great firepit made for cozy evenings, and grill grate over firepit made for easy transitions to/from cooking and chilling. Great tree setup for hammock hanging, beautiful setting, super clean and well built outhouse with solar lights. Didn't see a soul all 4 days we were there (except 1 guy walking the rocky shore as we packed up to leave). If getting away from it all is your cup of tea, this is the spot to do it. Leave it better than you found it, so everyone can enjoy.

The property was pristine and beautiful as was the lake. The amenities were very clean and lots of thoughtful touches. The only improvement I would suggest is to either limit vehicles to having 4 wheel drive capabilities or improve the driveway. We did get stuck but was able to flag down help to pull out our front wheel drive van out onto the road.

What an amazing experience we had here! The beauty, peacefulness, privacy and serenity we experienced here was beyond our expectations. We were planning on taking some day hiking trips but we were so smitten with the place we didn’t want to leave! Instead we hike the rocky shoreline, the water level was low enough that we could make it all the way out and around the island. The firewood and gas grill provided by the hosts were greatly appreciated. They were also very responsive to my questions ahead of our trip. Thank you!

Fantastic spot right on the lake with a great view of Katahdin and other Baxter State Park peaks. Easy to get to from either Greenville or Millinocket on good dirt roads. We fished, swam and walked along the shoreline. Water levels were quite low. Lake depth is controlled by a dam. It was a little too windy to kayak during the day, but calmed down at dusk and early morning.

This property had an amazing view and all the privacy you’d ever want! The rocky beach would be best suited for people who are very shore footed. We brought our two pups who had a blast swimming and chomping on driftwood. A very unique spot for those who really want to get away from it all! Would definitely recommend!

This is the place to stay. Its just outside the town of Greenville. You have lake access with kayak and canoes to use. Fire pit and tables for easy outdoor relaxing. They have a book with great local recommendations, Baxter is just a drive away. The outhouse is clean and well maintained. They provide plenty of wood, kindle, matches. If you have issues with your tent they have one on property which is very convenient. Also a BBQ to utilize. I would highly recommend and would book again.
