Quiet, beautiful lakeside spot. Friendly and helpful hosts. Dogs spent all day jumping off the dock. Great little hikes all around. Blueberries. Little slice of heaven.

Best HipCamp Experience Yet!!
Incredible find! We loved it so much we extended our vacation by another day. Having a private dock to stargaze or sip coffee on, with access to a canoe and kayak was serene. We saw a meteor shower, a bald eagle and thoroughly enjoyed the peaceful nature of this secluded campsite - close enough to Acadia/Bar Harbor but far enough to feel like a retreat. Carin was an exceptionally kind and responsive host, making the stay that much better. Looking forward to staying here again.. and again!

What a beautiful location - even more gorgeous than pictures can even show. Great location, about an hour to Acadia/Bar Harbor and close to many different hiking options (we hiked Schoodic Mountain which did not disappoint!). The pond was larger than I was expecting and we saw some beautiful sunsets from our kayaks. Our puppy loved swimming and we were pleasantly surprised at how warm the water was. Portapotty was extremely clean and it was great having access to water and electricity. The one downside was the neighbors had a huge party on our last night that lasted well into the evening - extremely loud music and people yelling well past 1am. No fault of the host of course, and we assume not a regular occurrence, just a bummer for the end of our trip.

Peaceful Privacy
We are new to the Hip-camp experience. We have camped across the country. This site was one of the best we have ever stayed at. It's not wilderness camping .You will see other people.. There are motorized boats on the pond , mostly low key family fun , not overcrowded. Dog friendly too.Beautiful view from any where in the camp. There is a tent platform ,but campers and pop.ups will have to set up on upper level gravel area Carin has done a great job making sure everything is just right. Relax , play in the water , kayak ,nice private dock. Listen to the Loons in the evening.
Definitely going back

Beautiful lake side spot
We absolutely loved this campsite. It was right on a beautiful lake with a private dock. All the amenities were perfect! Water and electricity, clean port o potty, tent platform, fire pit, canoe and kayak. It was gorgeous, quiet and private. We would recommend this to anyone with a vehicle appropriate for unpaved roads. Thank you so much.

Quiet and private spot
Went on Carin’s land to camp for a weekend with my boyfriend and we both really enjoyed our stay. There is a private access to the lake and plenty of place to move around. There is a wood platform so the tent can be put on a flat ground, and plenty of wood for campfire. We also loved watching the stars on the quai. We recommand for sure !

Weekend camping pond side
Carin & Ray’s property was beautiful. They were very helpful and treated us like family. The fire pit was a great area to spread out, after a day on the water. Sitting on the dock was our favorite thing to do after kayaking and exploring the pond. The tent pad was an added bonus. It was a very memorable weekend for our family and we are very appreciative to Carin & Ray for sharing their little piece of heaven with us.

the backside is an awesome place to camp. there is plenty of room to spread out with a big tent and an ez up for shade/mosquito screen. there was a picnic table provided as well as plenty of wood for burning in the "wicked good" firepit contraption (which has a cooking grate that we used). although previous reviewers did not like the placement of the porta potty, we thought it was perfect. far enough way that the smell should never be a problem. host carin's communication was also superb. we very highly recommend

Wow what a truly beautiful site! Right on the water with a canoe and kayak ready to be paddled. The tent platform was in a great spot. The bathroom is a bit up the hill but it is the cleanest porta potty I’ve ever seen. We will definitely be back!

Top notch spot!
Absolutely beautiful spot! Plenty of privacy and room! Zero complaints. Carin & Ray are the best hosts out there. They are down to earth, kind and very personable! Tons to do here- canoe, kayak, make a fire or relax on the dock! The back side has it all. Plenty of firewood and dog friendly! Do yourself a favor and give Carin & Ray a visit- you won’t regret it!

Beautiful spot! Quiet and isolated! Just what we were looking for! We enjoyed a weekend of kayaking, hiking and bonfires! It was chilly in the evenings and warm during the day …couldn’t have been nicer!
Carin was a great host. :)

Carin’s spot is perfect. We had the whole site to ourselves on the shore of beautiful Flanders pond complete with loons and a pair of Great Crested Grebes. Great spot also for enjoying the coast from Acadia National Park to Lubec. The site is a couple of miles off of Route 1, but is easily drivable. Highly recommended.

Quiet, peaceful and restful stay
We stayed at “The Back Side” on Flanders Pond in Sullivan, Maine. It was late fall in October and the weather was warm but it wasn’t sunny. The leaves were still quite pretty. The campsite was peaceful with the lake front and a dock. The camp fire area was nice, flat and secluded. There was electricity and water available and the port-a-potty was probably the cleanest I’ve ever been I and it included a night light! Carin did a great job communicating with us and we met her husband Ray who was a hoot.

A Lovely Get-Away!
My husband and I loved the tranquility and lovely view of the lake, right outside the door of our tent! Surrounded by pine trees, the tent pads to choose from are not very far from where we parked our vehicle. We had two tents (sleeping tent for two and a 10 x 10 screen tent) and there was still space for another tent. We had a nice paddle with the canoe on the lake (though the canoe does need a new paddle!) and a great swim from the dock. A moonlight pontoon boat ride really topped off our trip and gave us a chance to chat with Carin and Ray-- such a nice couple! Carin was exceptional in responding by text to all questions I posed to her both before our trip and during our stay. Next time we hope to spend more days there!

The location was great ! There are houses on either side, but still very secluded. The pond was perfect for kayaking and during the week it was very very quiet. On the weekend there was some ATV noise, but wasn’t too bad. We were able to back our 27 foot travel trailer into the spot, but my husband is a pro at it! All in all , super quiet, clean and a perfect break from it all!

Such a wonderful time
Carin's place is amazing. I stayed there for two weeks with my family of five and had a wonderful time. There was so much room to set up and was very private. It was incredibly quiet with the exception of wildlife. The dock is great for hanging out on and we set up our sunfish sailboat there. I hiked to the top of Schoodic Mountain from the site, although that route is a little difficult to navigate. I loved having the canoe and caught some fish on the pond. We had such a wonderful time and I highly recommend it. Carin is also very friendly and accommodating.

Great Place
Our family had a wonderful family gathering at The Back Side, despite the weather. There was plenty of room for our tents and even a screen tent. The screen tent was very handy because we had a week of heavy mist. The last day we got to experience the place in the sunshine! Our group hiked all the various trails, used their canoe and spent a lot of time on the dock.
Carin is a gracious host and very easy to communicate with. They even had free wood for our campfire!
We plan to return next summer if all goes well.

Amazing site! We stayed 8 nights 9 days and we were so sad to leave. Clean site right on Flanders pond. Starry nights, tons of firewood...and mushrooms! We had a few friends come visit at different times and it was a great trip. Highly recommended! We will be back. Carin was a great host!

Solid campsite on a beautiful lake. We brought kayaks and saw some bald eagles, it was magical. Nice to have power and running water and a lovely fire pit. Saw many beautiful birds and mushrooms. Lake was surprisingly warm (still pretty cold, but warm enough for me to swim in!)
Our only complaints were that there was no level ground in the trees (we camped a tent on the flat area built out for the car), and the fire barrel is not nearly as good for coals/cooking as a dug fire pit. Also the campsite is relatively small - we were 2, 4 people and two tents would be pretty crowded on this land.
