The yurt was nicely furnished and decorated. It was nice having the comforts of a hotel in a rustic setting. The yurt was larger than anticipated and had games and movies for in the evening. We had fun visiting and feeding the animals. The star gazing was fantastic. The hosts are great and so were the waffles, eggs and goat milk soap!

Really fun unique experience

Wonderful experience! Staff was very accommodating and informative. The property is very enchanting and full of fury wonders. Such a great place to reset and get back in touch with nature. Can't wait to go back.

One of a kind in Iowa!

Our family enjoyed everything about our trip! The Hobbit house was such a magical feeling to it. My son is really into Lord of the Rings and the Hobbit that he was just enveloped in it all. All the little trails you can walk on the property through beautiful greenery and flowers was so calming. My personal favorite was the animals! The love that is taking into their care and the affection you can tell they all get. We did the goat social on our trip and how much each goat wanted your attention and pets was amazing! They are just like giving attention to our family dogs. Watching the Kids run and play was so entertaining! Not a place I ever expected to in Iowa but so glad we found it!

The castle was perfect for a weekend getaway for the two of us and our pup! The hosts were SO welcoming and we loved meeting all the animals. The cabin was well stocked with kitchen supplies, towels, bedding, and so many interesting books. Next time we’d love to do more of the add-on activities too

Llama Llama Sunrise Chalet

This place is magical. We felt right at home here and loved the relaxing feel and creative vibes. Communication was great, it was easy to find and everything was as advertised. The one recommendation I'd have is to pack some earplugs as the peacocks talk into the night and the rooster crows at dawn.

My wife and I have stayed at everyone one of the available properties Jessica has and I really can’t decide my favorite!!! The Llama Chalet was magical!!! We waited until late- filled up the outdoor bathtub and took a bath under a full moon!!! I mean come on/ does it really get any better!!!!! They are very responsive to every little thing you need and so kind. Not to mention the animals- wow- I had never been that close to a peacock/ they were so friendly and walked right up to us!!!!! We cooked out in the fire pit and the EGGS-OMG-the BEST breakfast ever!!!! It is harder and harder to book with them- word has gotten out/ if you get a chance and a place is free for the weekend/ book it! Couples- family's- a solo retreat!!! You WON’T BE DISAPPOINTED!!!!! This place also makes a great gift for someone you love!!!!

We loved our stay!! It was truly a unique experience. My 4-year-old daughter had a blast with all the animals. We came on a Sunday night and it was pretty quiet. We definitely plan to come back someday!

My boyfriend and I brought our dog along with us for an amazing stay at Lady Morphia's Castle on the Hill. The animals, the land, the small and thoughtful touches throughout the cabin and the property are all the things that make this place so unique. We were so impressed with the books, games, DVDs, decorations, and activities available to us in the cabin. The owners were great to chat with and were happy to answer our many questions about the animals and the property. If you love animals, this is the place for you!

Piece of heaven

We loved staying on the hill in the hobbit house. The little touches of wonder in each corner of the hobbit house and the land were such a special touch. The views of the sunrise and sunset were beautiful. The farm is a magical getaway to unplug from the stressors of life. A little piece of heaven tucked in the bohemian hills of Iowa.

A unique, beautiful experience!

Peaceful. Serene. Beautiful. Magical. Unique. An experience I wont forget! I saw Windy Goat Acre’s hobbit house in the 2025 Travel Iowa magazine and knew I had to explore this place. It didn’t disappoint. It is inviting, cozy, clean and comfy and has an amazing view of the farm, all while still being secluded. The sounds of the animals - many of whom roam the farm - cozy sitting areas throughout the farm, walking trails, add-on’s such as wood for campfires and a morning waffle bar, all make this stay unique. The cabins and yurts are really cool too. Jessica is a great host. I would love to return and see how the farm changes with the seasons.

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Windy Goat Acres! This was our 3rd time staying at the retreat cabin. The weather was a little on the colder side, so we didn't get to enjoy the farm as much as we would've liked, but otherwise we both left feeling completely serene. I highly recommend Windy Goat Acres!

Calling All Animal Lovers!

Windy Goat Acres is my happy place. The cabin was super cozy. If you're interested in going in colder months, this is the perfect cabin. The fireplace is so warm! As always, Jess was an amazing host, and we had a wonderful time hanging out with her and her critters. If you are an animal lover, Windy Goat Acres is a must-see! This was my husband and I'd second time visiting, and we are making it an at-least yearly ritual to come.

The Hobbit House was so cozy! We loved staying there. One thing I didn’t think about is that the cabins are pretty close to each other. I still felt like we had privacy though and we felt very relaxed during our stay. We also appreciated that they allowed pets so we could stay with the furry members of our family.

Beautiful Intimate Wedding

It's so naturally pretty out at Windy Goat, even in early spring, that we didn't feel the need to bring extra decorations for our wedding. Our guests were easily entertained with the chess, playhouse, croquet and animals right near the garden bar pergola where we had our ceremony. It truly made for a carefree and wonderful setting for our day. All of our guests felt safe, including the lgbtq+ guests and the kids had a blast! The cabin was very clean and stayed warm and the bed was pretty comfy.

Perfect Respite!

What a great trip! I loved the cabin and all the opportunities for interaction with the animals, even other people staying. I wanted a quiet retreat and I got it! Am definitely coming again!

The cabin was very quaint and charming. There was adequate heat for the weather! Jessica was very helpful setting out wood chips over some fresh mud so we could get into the cabin easily. The cabin was beautiful and had gorgeous views of the farm, but it should be noted that this particular cabin has a lot of windows and there were no window treatments.

Jess is the most wonderful host. She is extremely interactive with her guests but only when engaged with. She also gave us a special goat pajama party for my friend as we were celebrating her birthday! I cannot recommend anyone more than Jess as a host and her wonderful property full of Easter eggs.

Felt like a home away from home. The views from the cabin were spectacular. You feel almost like royalty staying there. The host were both friendly and informative and shared their wonderful knowledge of Hipcamp and ideas. Would recommend this place to anyone that enjoys the great outdoors and relaxing day or two away!

Llama Llama Sunrise Chalet

This was a very cute cabin on a very well-loved property. The cabin was very clean and cozy. Unfortunately we did not last our entire planned weekend. The property was incredibly muddy — no doubt we would have had a different experience during a different time of year. The listing says there is a portable restroom or guest bath/shower for common use. The guest bath was quite a ways down the hill and wouldn’t be easily accessed without driving due to the mud. A map in the listing would be helpful. Not sure what I was expecting but the portable restroom really was a small porta potty. Was kind of incongruous with the setting. Slogging in the mud to get to a porta potty just wasn’t ideal for me. Additionally, the cabin has very steep stairs to the lofted bed. Our dogs were very nervous with them and my husband worried about them falling through the big gaps. I do appreciate dogs being allowed on the property though. The other cabins seemed a little difficult to access — we watched several other guests slog through the mud/snow without a clear path to their cabins/yurts. I also think some more communication in regards to locking the cabin and when add ons were going to be delivered would be helpful. Also know that you need to bring towels as there are only paper towels in the cabin. I think this place would be great at a different time of year with a little more preparation.

Sunrise with animals!

I really enjoyed the Llama Llama cabin. Wonderful view, clean space, and (of course) there are animals right by you! I went when the Garden pub was closed, so I think this place in spring- early fall is probably popping. The trail is smaller than I was expecting. Maybe a 15-30 min walk depending on how slow you wanna go. I'd recommend getting all of your extras ordered before arriving to the site. I'd also recommend bringing knives if you are gonna eat meat, maybe your own drinking water if you don't want the spigot water, clamps for moving things about the fire and tinfoil. It's a really nice place. Lots of games, books and movies are available so if you forget to bring something you won't be bored! Really enjoyed hanging by the goats and having peacocks say hello in the morning.
