Beautiful chunk of land! And Meredith was VERY helpful when I had to confront the possibility of hanging my hammock outside on a rainy night - she pointed me to a horse shelter where I could hang my hammock & stay dry, and I had a really lovely night.

I would highly recommend this campsite, it's only an hour from Chicago and has a Walmart and a few restaurants nearby. The sites are spaced fairly far apart that we only saw another camper once. Fire pit was nice and we were able to use a broke down tree for fuel but the Walmart does sell firewood.

Meredith’s land is beautiful and peaceful. Campsite 2 was quiet and located next to a creek and trees where you can enjoy the soothing sounds of running water and birdsongs. The fire ring was large and well-placed, and the picnic table was clean and well-maintained. The toilet box was also clean. Firewood is available throughout the site. A great spot and great host with ontime communication.

When we pulled in, there were other campers occupying site 1. So we went straight to site 2. Both sites are not within view of each other so this was a very private camp spot! We enjoyed our stay here and even got to walk around their property a bit.

What a beautiful property!! It was the perfect setting, the leaves changing and it was perfect! We walked the horse trails, saw the horses and truly enjoyed our camp out. Meredith and her hubby took super great care to have the amenities as listed. They brought their travel camper down to the site because the john was out of commission. I thought that went way above and beyond as hosts! We would recommend this site to anyone wanting peace and quiet. Everything was perfect!

Amazing campsite. We had 9 people, a dog, and 4 tents set up and still had tons of space so we didn’t feel crowded. The tipi was really cool and the hammock and hammock chair that were on the site were nice. We had a great time and will definitely be going back in the spring!

SUCH a great experience! First time staying in a Tipi and it was amazing. We felt so safe, there was so much room, there is even a little notch that lets you “lock” the tipi. It’s right next to the horses, so we got to say hello to them. There is also a hammock and beautiful swinging chair. It was a huge site and so beautiful. I would definitely come back! I will say the bathroom is a bit far so be prepared and bring a table+chairs!

We loved our stay! Worked out great as is local to where we store our camper/where we live! No crowded campground, able to have some peace and quiet, and our dogs love bed being able to be off leash at times! Definitely planning on staying here again!

Host was completely unresponsive, the road into the camping area was not specified so we ended up following the GPS marker in the app, this lead us down an almost impassable dirt road where we had to do a 3 point (more like 47 point) turn to avoid attempting to drive over an old wooden bridge that didnt look like it could support our vehicle to get out. If we did not have an offroad truck with 4 low, locking diffentials and traction boards with our tow vehicle we would have had to call a tow truck as we got stuck in the mud for a while. There is a good amount of paint work that needs to be fixed on my truck from the scratches from the over grown road. We ended up booking a campsite down the road and did not stay.

This is my second time camping here while the weather played a little bit of havoc on me the one site further away was rather muddy and I wound up getting myself stuck had a friend of mine come and pull me out the hose was very understanding and allowed us to stay up on a more grassy area for the duration of the trip absolutely would go back again I'll just be a little more aware of the weather thank you again and I will be back

Very quiet, safe location. There was one other camper about a quarter mile away. You are in the trees with the creek nearby. Kids explored the area, horses were out (fenced in). Fire pit with plenty of twigs to pick up while walking.

What a Wonderful place to relax, Quiet and wonderful surroundings. Yes as some have stated you can hear some traffic but that was no issue at all, I would suggest when you confirm you share a bit more details as I pulled into the wrong driveway and had a hard time turning my 15ft trailer around in the driveway. I will for sure be back wonderful place !!

It’s a great spot, tucked amongst oak trees and beside a small creek. It’s shaded from direct sun also,
I also appreciated how quiet it was. I occasionally heard a car from the nearby road, which was more than overcome by the birds.

My husband and I stayed here with our two dogs for few nights to get away. It was great! My husband grew up camping but this was my first time ever! It is nice and quiet. You can hear cars from the road and a train every so often, I didn’t mind since I have lived by trains my whole life. It was nice and clean, portapotty was very clean, and some cooking utensils are available. We very much enjoyed our time and plan to visit again!

I loved staying at this camp. It is very private. It is primitive style camping. The bird songs and the sound of the stream were soothing. I felt safe here. It is close to home. I am excited to see how this camp develops over time.

This place was exactly what we signed up for. A secluded spot with minimum interference. Only complaint was that the sight was over grown and there was muddy aftermath of recently flooding. Was a little discouraged when it was apparent that the site owner hadn't seen the grounds since the flooding. We were lucky and was able to pick the site that was less effected by the mud and flood . Over all my son and I had a great weekend. Not for the inexperienced camper. We were good cause we were expecting bare bone and was happy with that. Had the site not flooded and been a little more maintained would give a higher rating.

The host was very unresponsive, the property incredibly overgrown so much so that we could barely find the farm road or the campsites. Not marked at all so you don’t know if you’re even in the right spot. She told us only a half hour before our arrival at 8:30pm that the property had recently been flooded….we decided to check it out anyway as we were already almost there, but the campsite was completely caked with mud I could barely walk through, let alone drive and park our truck and tiny squaredrop camper. When I called her she didn’t help much at all with advice or instructions and didn’t offer to come help locate us to dry ground. We located the other campers who had taken the other muddy spot, and they were not happy either. They offered to let us stay on their site which was so kind, but we were so put off by the lack of responsiveness and overgrown property. We left immediately and requested a refund. I messaged her immediately after we left explaining why we didn’t stay, and she never responded, just issued the refund. Very disappointed. This was our first negative Hipcamp experience but glad I was issued a refund. I am an avid user of Hipcamp and Airbnb because I like supporting property owners and the little guys, I even operated an Airbnb for 3 years out of my home. I can’t imagine just not responding to guests who are legitimately having issues.

Unfortunately it rained the second day we were at the campsite. This caused a sudden increase in the flow of the creek until it flooded the campsite. My little boy and I were lucky to pack up a few of our belongings before the water completely covered the camp. We tried to move to higher ground but a pack of dogs came down from the house to bark at us and we barely got back in the car before we were able to find out if they were “good doggies or bad doggies” as my son wondered. We left and spent the night in a Motel 6.

The spot I chose by the creek is gorgeous. There's a fire pit with plenty of utensils too! I came here with my 2 small senior dogs. Its mostly relaxing and mostly secluded. I would come here again for how close it is to me and its beauty. Make sure to bring lots of bug spray or deterrent though. I got to see lots of tadpoles and they were so cute! Plus I felt pretty safe and I feel like older kids would enjoy this place.
However, as a massive introvert and kinda a recluse, I do have to say there is a lot of activity. They bring the horse down into the creek , by the camp, daily and its within view. So it alerts my dogs and myself. This isnt a deal breaker or anything I'm upset about, its just a description so other reclusive, shy or wary campers know the details. Plus you can def hear people mowing, light car traffic and there was a tractor doing some construction near the site. The site isnt super enclosed so people can see you and you can see them, if they are walking past your site. The other thing is as I was walkin out of my camp site 2 dogs, 1 big and 1 medium, came running and barking at us as if we were intruders and it scared me tbh. They tell youabout the dogs btw so its not like i didnt know. It was just a bit much for someone like me. If you have well trained dogs, you would do better in this situation than myself. My senior dogs are a fat girl who is afraid of big dogs and a deaf skinny minny with severe ptsd and almost no teeth. Regardless, wonderful site!
