Host was kind and helpful. Parking was different from the directions in the notes, so double check before you arrive. I do not recommend arriving after dark. The walk from parking to the site is very uneven terrain, down some irregular steps set into a hillside, and you have to navigate - with your gear - around children’s toys - down what is essentially a game trail to the campsite. As mentioned - there is a noticeable amount of dog poo to navigate on the way. I didn’t need the goldendoodle but I’m sure he’s delightful.
There are now sheep taking up the lower half of the pasture, so if you have a sensitive sniffer, this may not be the spot for you. Also, the sheep are milked daily at 8am in the milking shed, which is about 30 feet from your tent pad. If you’re after a slow, quiet morning, probably not the spot for you.
We were comfortable, safe, and enjoyed sitting under the oak tree. We spotted two bucks in full velvet across the street. I do NOT recommend having a fire in the fire pit due to literally sitting in dry pasture on a hillside with homes all around. A single spark would be devastating. Please reconsider allowing fires. As of 6/15/26, El Dorado County & BLM have had a burn ban for all residential & public camp fires and burn piles.
The space fit my 8x10, but I’d be surprised if a 10x10 would fit on the pad as-is.

This is such a wonderful little spot for a campsite for one or two people! Peter and her wife were so kind and made sure I had everything I needed. It was summer 2026, and it was around 90+ degrees with a nice shade from the tree. There’s a short walk to the site, so if you have a lot to carry, you might need to come back and forth to your vehicle. There are three sheep around your campsite, but they didn’t bother me at all. It add a nice touch to your journey!

Great place to hangout and listen to some dope sheep along the way. I was nice watching the sunset and enjoying the fire pit. Definitely recommend if you want a nice place to stay if you're up in the area and want to explore what the town has to offer. Definitely will be back.

This was an awesome little spot! The pictures on the posting kind of undersold it - it is a very peaceful and idyllic little homestead. Peter and Megan were really hospitable and made sure I had everything I needed, very generous and welcoming. Placerville is also a really neat little town with cool shops and places to eat.

It's the front yard of this guy's house, its ~4 acres and beautiful. The hosts are very hospitable. You can see the house and the road from the campsite. He is in the process of planting more trees, they're still baby's ATM. The biggest upside is the campsite is 4min from downtown placerville and 8min from all of Apple Hill!

This is the perfect place to stay if you want to be close to town and explore Placerville. It's close to everything, and is in a nice neighborhood that's perfect for a walk. The site is great, with a flat spot for a tent, a picnic table, and portable toilet set up in a privacy tent. The trees around the site are pretty, and provide plenty of shade. This is a great place to camp!

The neighborhood is great for a walk. It's close to the freeway and town. All the amenities were fantastic. The hosts were very friendly. There was nothing we needed that wasn't provided. We got to eat fresh apricots off the tree. I would definitely recommend staying here!
