On balance, I give this thumb's up
On the balance, I give this a thumb's up. We got to camp, we viewed the eclipse, the host was congenial, super friendly. We could hear frogs chirping in the evening. View of stars pretty good.
A few things were not so obvious from the ad/posting (maybe they were, but I didn't catch them). You camp distant from where the parking is, so it's a schlep to bring your stuff, or if you need to go back to your car. It's not too far, maybe a 5 minute walk. Also, CJ, the host has an ATV and transported us and our stuff there and back, it's just too far to carry a full cooler. However, the ATV is very loud, so then you hear it every time there's a new camper. It does say "no toilet" and "no water" but still,... that's kind of a hassle. The campsites are dispersed, but still, people would occasionally stroll close to our site: I prefer more privacy. It was kind of loud in addition to the ATV: there were dogs constantly barking and roosters constantly crowing. You can hear the road, and there are some loud pickup trucks in rural Alabama.
