Open fields with horses. Trails to hike. Running creek to set along side or wade. Hill top cramping you can see pinnacle mountain from. Lake ouachita 1/2 mile down the road to the south. 30 acres of wood land to camp and have camp fires with several different wildlife creatures. In the early summer we have Chantelle mushrooms you can pick (I will show you how to identify). Several hundred acres of USFS timberland to explore I recommend bringing a portable GPS.

Stayed for the eclipse!
This campsite was everything I was hoping for! There is a walk to the campsites but it isn't to bad. Lots of brambles so we had to clear the campsite a little bit it wasn't to bad. I stayed at site 2 and there were a few good hammock spots as well as tent spots available

Super nice people to deal with. They brought me & my belongings to my campsite for me. I can't wait for the next opportunity to stay here again.

On balance, I give this thumb's up
On the balance, I give this a thumb's up. We got to camp, we viewed the eclipse, the host was congenial, super friendly. We could hear frogs chirping in the evening. View of stars pretty good. A few things were not so obvious from the ad/posting (maybe they were, but I didn't catch them). You camp distant from where the parking is, so it's a schlep to bring your stuff, or if you need to go back to your car. It's not too far, maybe a 5 minute walk. Also, CJ, the host has an ATV and transported us and our stuff there and back, it's just too far to carry a full cooler. However, the ATV is very loud, so then you hear it every time there's a new camper. It does say "no toilet" and "no water" but still,... that's kind of a hassle. The campsites are dispersed, but still, people would occasionally stroll close to our site: I prefer more privacy. It was kind of loud in addition to the ATV: there were dogs constantly barking and roosters constantly crowing. You can hear the road, and there are some loud pickup trucks in rural Alabama.

Hospitality at Possum Kingdom
First of all, we wish you a speedy recovery, Chadrick!!! This family is the definition of southern hospitality. The host, their father, went in for emergency surgery and the family still continued to host a bunch of random campers on their property for the first time. I would have completely understood a last minute cancelation with those circumstances. They greeted each group with smiles and open arms. They provided everyone with a tour of their property via side by side, a map, a privacy tent and toilet (wasn't listed on hipcamp), and they even hauled us and all of our camping gear to our selected site. I wasn't expecting any of that!! The property was beautiful and it had plenty of trees for hammocks, privacy between sites, and shade. It's located around 15 minutes from Ron Coleman Crystal mines, which was also one of our destinations on this trip. While washing up at the creek, on Possum Kindom Ranch, I even found a few small terminated crystals by the waters edge. I wish that I was able to thank the family again in person. We had a great eclipse weekend experience. Thank you for sharing your property, your time, and your hospitality!!! You all rock!

We ended up here after a last minute course correct to view the eclipse. So glad we found this spot! Hosts are super friendly and accommodating and the sites are well spaced out. Very close to Hot Springs and in a beautiful area
