Discover the most magical spots to pitch your tent or park your rig on your next Byfield National Park adventure.
Enjoy bushwalks, beach drives, and boat cruises as you explore this coastal wilderness.
Wild heathlands and bush-clad headlands give way to rolling dunes and sandy beaches in the Byfield National Park. Hike, mountain bike, or horseback ride along woodland trails; enjoy bird-watching around the Corio Bay wetlands; or venture off-road for thrilling 4WD beach drives to Stockyard Point, Five Rocks, or Nine Mile Beach. There are plenty of ways to get on the water, whether cruising the coast, canoeing along Water Park Creek, or cooling off with a swim in Freshwater creeks. Camping is an adventure at Byfield, too—choose to camp beachside, riverside, or at a remote bush campsite.
The best time to explore Byfield National Park is during the dry season (April through October), when the weather is cooler, and the dunes bloom with wildflowers. Heavy rainfall from November through March can limit access to some parts of the park, and the hot, humid weather means outdoor activities are best enjoyed in the morning. Wildlife enthusiasts might want to brave the heat, though—September through March is the best time to see migratory shorebirds.
