Hillside Bush Getaway

25 sites · RVs, TentsFalls Creek, NSW
Situated on 40 acres of natural bushland with an abundance of wildlife and birds. We are located an easy 15 minute drive from the stunning South Coast beaches, Huskisson and of Jervis Bay, and 10 minutes south of Nowra. I've done lots of caravanning myself and always loved a place like this to spend a few nights. It's quiet, safe to leave your van here and go out in the day and explore the area. It's the perfect base to explore the Jervis Bay area, there is lots to see and do...or you may decide to do nothing but sit around, relax and take in the peaceful surrounds. We don't offer any amenities so our place suits campers who have their own toilet and shower and leave no trace. Leave the site as you found it. Grey water okay to go on the ground. Dog friendly, please keep them on the lead and well controlled. Campfires permitted when restrictions aren't in place, wood around for you to gather your own. The road is sealed all the way to front gate. After the gate is fairly smooth unsealed. IMPORTANT! Directions to my place are a bit tricky so check MY TRIPS in your profile once your booking is confirmed.

Tomerong Forest

14 sites · RVs, Tents600 acres · Falls Creek, NSW
At Tomerong Forest, you'll find 600 acres of private native forest with an abundance of wildlife, welcoming self-contained campers to immerse themselves in nature. You'll be camped just 15 minutes drive from Huskisson, Hyamms Beach, and St George's Basin - a great location if you want laid-back bush camping, but also crave a restaurant meal and a swim in the beautiful waters of Jervis Bay. It is isolated from the overcrowded tourist parks and offers great secluded camping. At the right time, you will literally not see another human for days if that is your wish! At the current moment, a 4WD is essential to access the property. All campers must be self-contained, with their own camp toilet, and take all waste when they go. So if you are tired of that 6 metre x 6 metre tent site and don't want to hear the guy next door coughing and snoring, or if you just want to only hear the sound of the breeze through the trees, come and stay a few days or a week or longer if you wish. Seclusion this accessible from Sydney is a rare commodity. Pets are welcome, but please keep them under control as we value the wildlife. Sorry, no cats for that particular reason.

Berry & Beach

9 sites · Tents7 acres · Far Meadow, NSW
Amazing location so close to everything the beautiful Shoalhaven has to offer: beaches, wineries, hiking, kayaking, and more! A 5-minute drive to beautiful Berry town, 5-minute drive to Seven Mile Beach/Shoalhaven Heads (with an amazing off-leash dog area), and 15 minutes to Gerroa/Gerringong. 25-minute drive to Kangaroo Valley. 45-minute drive to Jervis Bay. Lovely forested area adjacent to our house, on acreage with views over paddocks and Coolangatta Mountain (Cullunghutti) in the distance. At the moment we have sheep, cows, and even a couple of miniature horses!  We purposefully only allow a few tents / limited numbers to keep things quiet and peaceful. Please note that although the suggested camp area is adjacent to our house, there are trees in between and we will be sure to respect your peace and privacy. The sites are not specifically allocated - just arrive and pitch in the general area specified. Happy to discuss other areas on the property too, if you want to be further away...but you will not be as close to bathroom facilities (so you either will need to walk or have your own camp toilet and dispose of yourself off the property). Each booking/site is for one tent only. PLEASE NOTE: the site is not suitable for campervans, caravans or RVs. There is a luxury shared bathroom/shower (please do not flush anything other than toilet paper), and a communal campfire with seating available for use, but you will need to bring your own wood. Individual campfires are possible but you will need to bring your own pit and large wood. There is generally a lot of kindling you can use. It is only a short 30 second walk to where you can set up your tent. Please note, due to limited sites, you need to park your car in the gravel carpark. It is fine to unload if you have access (i.e. no tents already in the way) but then please promptly park your car back in carpark. All rubbish/recycling to be taken with you. Please read the rules of the property. Dogs are allowed off leash if well behaved and will stay in the vicinity of your tent. They are not to disturb other campers, otherwise they need to be restrained at all times. Dog poo to be picked up immediately. Please also be aware that this is a farm with fenced dams and inherent risks. While children regularly stay without issues, it's important to remain cautious and mindful of these risks. Fire safety: Do -Ensure fires are currently allowed -Check to see if fires are currently prohibited for any reason. -Use a fire ring in a cleared area. Sparks can fly! Make sure they stay away from dry brush and that your fire is contained. -Fully extinguish the fire with water. Use water until the hissing stops, and feel a few inches above the ashes to make sure they are cool. Don’t -Leave the fire unattended. A gust of wind could cause your fire to get out of control. Being attentive is key! -Use flammable liquids. Lighter fluid can cause a fire to dangerously flare up and get out of hand. -Build a large fire. Your fire should always be under control and easy to extinguish at any time. Thanks for being careful. Enjoy!

A quiet location less than two minutes off the Princes Highway, located halfway between Ulladulla and Nowra on the NSW South Coast (approximately 3 hours from Sydney and Canberra). Camping is available on lush green paddocks or under the trees, a short walk from the creek. We enjoy plenty of birdlife, wallabies, and wombats (keep an eye out at dusk). We are also within 30 minutes to numerous beaches. It is a beautiful, quiet and secluded spot to spend your next weekend or just overnight while passing through. We can cater to larger groups (ask for details and pricing), but we expect respect and quiet for our neighbours, animals, and pets. Fires are allowed, and firewood is available (cut/collect your own). We are pet friendly and love our pets, too, but please ensure they are well-behaved and leave the animals and wildlife alone. Things to note: There is little phone reception (mostly none). 2wd is generally fine unless it gets very wet. Bring a pest repellent. Wombat holes do extensive damage to unsuspecting vehicles. Snakes (Black and Browns). Bee hives (keep clear or be stung). Beware tree stumps.

The best camping near Jervis Bay National Park guide

Overview

About

Explore the natural beauty of Jervis Bay National Park on NSW's sparkling South Coast, near Nowra. Discover Aboriginal heritage, visit Hyams Beach, renowned for its white sand, whale watching and water activities. With its powder-white sands, crystal clear waters, forests, woodlands and wetlands, Jervis Bay National Park is an ideal getaway. Its rich Aboriginal heritage goes back thousands of years and local Aboriginal people maintain strong connections with the land. The park’s natural riches are the ideal backdrop for a daytrip or a weekend getaway in the great outdoors. Try the incredible White Sands walk and Scribbly Gum track, go swimming, fishing or snorkelling, or relax with a picnic and a throw of the frisbee. Discover an array of birdlife, spot whales and dolphins and feel at one with nature in this very special part of the world.

When it comes to natural beauty, Jervis Bay is hard to beat. Around three hours’ drive south of Sydney in the Shoalhaven region near Nowra, the bay stretches for 100km and is bordered by national parks and holiday townships, including Huskisson, Currarong and Callala Beach. The South Coast getaway's most famous attraction is without a doubt Hyams Beach, which is often said to have the whitest sand in the world. But it’s just one of many beautiful beaches that dot its shore. The bay is also one of the best whale-watching destinations in Australia, as whales stop to rest in the protected waters during their annual migration from June to October.

Jervis Bay National Park

No trip to Jervis Bay is complete without a visit to Hyams Beach, which is known for its white sands. While it’s the main highlight of Jervis Bay National Park, this natural wonderland offers plenty of other delights. The White Sands Walk and interconnected Scribbly Gum Track loop through the park, taking you along the coast and through forest and woodland. Stop along the walking track to go snorkelling and enjoy a picnic lunch at a secluded beach, and look out for birdlife including new holland honey-eaters, eastern spinebills, eastern rosellas, and crimson rosellas, as well as native animals such as possums and sugar gliders. Bull Hole lookout offers fantastic views over the coast and surrounding dunes, which are covered in swamp oak, banksias and wattle trees, from an elevated viewing platform. Learn about the area’s history and culture on a tour with an Indigenous guide, in which you can also try your hand at weaving and taste damper and native tea.

Booderee National Park

See the ruins of the heritage-listed Cape St George Lighthouse, which is perched on the edge of a cliff in nearby Booderee National Park. The park has great camping areas and is home to Australia’s only Indigenous-owned and managed Botanic Gardens. Beautiful beaches also abound. They include family favourite Green Patch, Scottish Rocks, Bristol Point, Hole in the Wall and Murrays Beach, which is a great place to watch the sunrise over Bowen Island. Another highlight of Booderee National Park is Cave Beach, which is popular for surfing and the chance to see native Australian wildlife, such as kangaroos and wallabies.

Currambene Creek

Explore the tranquil Currambene Creek, its mangrove forests, and wildlife, including soldier crabs, sea eagles and stingrays, during a safari or sunset cruise aboard the iconic Husky Ferry. The ferry also operates between Myola and Huskisson on weekends.

Huskisson

Just north of Moona Moona Creek in Huskisson, Moona Moona Beach is a great spot for swimming and picnics, thanks to its shallow water and facilities, including barbecues and outdoor showers. While you’re there, catch a flick at Huskisson Pictures, housed in a former community hall built in 1913, and try some local ales and grab a bite from a food truck at Jervis Bay Brewing Co.

Honeymoon Bay

The perfect place for uncommon camping, Honeymoon Bay's sandy shore forms a picturesque horseshoe, shielding visitors from the larger waves. Whether you're looking for a relaxing paddle in a sheltered bay or an exciting day on the water fishing for an impressive catch, Honeymoon Bay has so much to offer. An exciting camping spot with endless activities, it's clear why the bay is so sought-after.
