The pasture is quite visible from Old Route 66, nearly adjoining it. Therefore people traveling “the Mother Road” find it convenient to stay with us. Grass is the best forage for horses, especially older ones, so we take care of our pastures, making for beautiful scenery for campers, too. Plus the entire back mile is bordered by old forest. And there is a swimming hole not a half mile away.
This is a quiet and private site, bordered by a neighbor's old forest on back, other neighbor's cattle pasture on side, and you're in one of the pastures used by the Horse Sanctuary. (You are camping about 1/4 mile, more or less, from our house.)
We regularly see coyote, wild turkeys, deer, fireflies, and the like.
We are just 1/2 mile off Old Route 66, therefore there are quirky little museums and great restaurants (for such a rural area!).
Plus we are only about an hour's drive from Branson. MO. which is a known tourist attraction.

We are a small hobby farm with a dog, chickens, a small fruit orchard, vineyard, and garden!! On the north end of the property we created a playground with a jungle gym, swings, trampoline, playhouses, outside polyjohn/toilet, and a 16' pool. We have two private sites, a primitive campsite directly on the Lake of the Ozarks, and a RV spot with full hook-ups (water, 50 amp AC, and sewer). The two sites are separated from each other, but both have access to the lake, including kayaks, a canoe, a paddleboat, excellent fishing, a boat-ramp, floating dock and a one-mile perimeter nature/hiking trail.
*** NOTE *** From January until early May, the lake level is dropped about five (5) feet, so boating and fishing access range from difficult to impossible (though, arrowhead hunting is a fun activity you might enjoy during the low water months!).
Primative Campsite - A private 1.5 acre campsite with a firepit (and plenty of wood to burn in it) and direct access to the Lake of the Ozarks. Beautiful spot! Very private, nice dry wood, and one of the most comfy swivel, bouncy chairs made it deluxe! And a beautiful group of horses. Toilet paper in privy was used as mouse nesting material, so glad I had my own :) I lucked out and got an actual rainbow!

There are SO MANY things to love about the Sawmill Hollow Campground!!!
If you want a beautiful setting, this is the place! If you want total peace and quiet, this is the place! If you want to camp someplace that has practically NO bugs, this is the place!!!
Mike and Arlene and Max, their sweet dog, are so pleasant and nice to visit with. And their front yard that has the gazebo or (shelter house) and fire pit looks like a park!
The lake comes right up to their property and Mike has built several benches with fishing pole holders all along the water's edge. And they have a dock and a gazebo and a fire pit and they even supplied the items for cornhole. And they let you use their canoes and kayaks and provide firewood for the fire pit. They really just go above and beyond for their guests!
The main reason why we went there above other places that we looked at was because our dogs could stay off leash the entire time. And it turned out that there were so many other amenities as a bonus. Max is so sweet and goes with Mike everywhere so if you have dogs that don't get along with other dogs, keep them home because Max isn't a fighter and doesn't deserve to be treated badly by nasty tempered dogs!
Out of 5 stars, I give Sawmill Hollow a TEN!!!

We loved the spot. Location is just a short drive to the lake, so if you want to be right on the water this may not be for you. However, if you value privacy and getting away from the parking lot style RV sites where you are right on top of each other I’d highly recommend. We have a young lab who still likes to bark at things so having a private place that has space for him to run is always a priority. Jennifer was responsive to all questions and has everything you need. Proximity to the highway is not an issue. The site is far enough away the road noise is insignificant and traffic dwindles significantly at night, not that it’s bad in the first place.

There are several fun activity options like billiards, disc golf, axe throwing (you read that right), and a swimming spot that looks like it would be especially fun for kids when open in the summer. Teresa was very nice and hauled my half wheelbarrow of firewood down the hill personally. I had a very positive experience there.

My wife and I spent two nights at this campsite, and I couldn’t recommend this site more! It’s an amazing property with even better owners. Mike checked in with us to make sure everything was going well with our stay, answered all our questions about the surrounding area and the wildlife, and told us about the history of the property!
We felt spoiled with the wooden platforms to put our tent on! We already have a tent that is on a cot platform, but having the extra wooden area around the tent to hang out in the early morning while you’re still waking up is the absolute best.
When the description says firewood provided; they mean it. We had a stack of wood that would have lasted the two of us for WEEKS. They even provided a separate bin of kindling wood!
