Come spend a relaxing time at the base of one of the mountain foothills in stunning Star Valley, WY with a view over a rippling creek below, ranches spread across the valley floor, and watch the sunrise over the mountains on the other side! As the only camper on our 17 acres surrounded by several larger ranches, you will be overlooking part of the old Oregon Trail in the valley below. Above and around you are a rocky hillside covered with wild berry bushes, many songbirds, and larger wildlife like deer, snowshoe hares, elk, foxes, and coyotes. A moose or bear might even wander by. The hillside rises steeply behind you, turning into more mountains as it climbs out of sight.
It is generally a quiet rural area about 6 miles from a town with gas, groceries, coffee shops, restaurants, laundromat, camper showers, and other amenities available. There are many trailheads for hiking nearby as well as fishing access to the main river at multiple points across the valley. The Star Valley and Oregon Trail history museums in town provide a fascinating look into the history of this valley. And the largest intermittent spring in the world is a beautiful short hike from a nearby trailhead.
In the summer you'll probably hear Red Winged Blackbirds singing in the willows along the creek below and spot brilliant Western Tanagers flitting among the bushes. Bring your binoculars and some patience and you will likely spot a huge variety of other birds as well! This hillside is tucked in the middle of many working ranches so you might see cowboys ride by on horseback, a herd of cows being moved from one pasture to another, or 4 wheelers moving around depending on the time of year.
This is a boon-docking site with no water, power, or toilet available. Just lots of nature and views! Plan for pack it in/pack it out and help us keep this spot of nature a place where many people can enjoy the peace of time in the mountains. The parking spot its self is a flat graveled pad suitable for rigs up to a 26 feet in length or tent camping. A small sitting area with a pair of chairs is provided for you to enjoy your morning coffee while watching the sunrise if you like. There is a gravel lane that comes up the hill from the paved county road below, and then the campsite sits off to the side of that tucked into a corner of the steep hillside. Family lives in a cabin further up the hillside, but out of both sight and earshot from the campsite. Sadly no campfires due to the danger of a wildfire. Camp stoves are just fine.
We love our pets, and yours are welcome! But please keep them on a leash due to the high volume of wildlife in the area, some of which can easily kill a dog.
Verizon phones usually have service in this particular spot, other carriers tend to be hit and miss.
Plan to check in sometime after 3:00 p.m. on the day of your arrival and check out before 11:00 a.m. so we have a little bit of time in between guests to do any mowing or other maintenance to the site area.

The Shoshone and Nez Perce Native American tribes spent their summers in this area hunting and fishing the many streams in this valley. Trapper's used the area until the U.S. market collapse of the beaver skin top-hat in the late 1830's. Mormon pioneers began settling here in the 1890's. My great-grandparents settled in Teton Valley after moving from Nebraska in 1917. They farmed this land; growing potatoes, barley and hay. Today we raise alfalfa/grass hay that we feed to our horses. In the bottom of our field south of the campsite is Trail Creek, which is the headwaters of the Teton River. It flows out of the southern Teton mountain range in Wyoming and into Idaho. This water eventually joins the mighty Snake River near Rexburg, Idaho as it continues it's journey to the pacific ocean. Summer's here are usually warm sunny days with cool, chilly nights. On site there are dogs and horses. Dogs are welcome as long as they well behaved!
This is a WORKING horse property, so please don’t be surprised if you need manure, hay, wheelbarrow, trailers, etc around.
The horses are friendly but I kindly ask that you do not go inside their pasture.

Jenny Lake Campground has just been voted the most sought after campground in the USA, and we are an hour from there. Janine worked guiding trail rides for travelers wanting to experience the West and the stunning beauty of the Tetons for years on and around Jenny Lake. It was the best college-student work experience ever! Today, we still love the interaction with happy vacationers and people who want to experience this beautiful area of our country! The field extends all around you, but it is held in trust, and the area outside your staked off spot can't, unfortunately, be utilized by campers.
We don't allow any pets, due to our livestock and wildlife around us. This summer, we've had a doe and twin fawns wandering around almost every day. We've had every single type of large wildlife the Tetons offer here at one point or another. The chokecherry trees you'll camp by have delicious fruit you can choose to eat in season(at your own descretion, and while they are in season-some in our family are allergic, but we've made chokecherry jam and jelly from the fruit from these trees for years). Please stay in your designated camping area, detailed by the stakes.

Plenty of room to park your camper, sitting area is pretty small, there is a picnic table and what room is left next to your camper on the pavement. Our "grassy" area was full of water the whole time we were there. They have free breakfast every day, which is very unusual at a campground, so that is a perk. They have a pool and hot tub and community gas lit fire pits with free s'mores. Trees are small right now so there is no shade, it was pretty warm sitting on the concrete.

We didn’t get to see the reservoir/river from our site as it was very shallow but we managed to make plans in the Grand Tetons and Jackson Hole which were an hour and 45 minutes away, accordingly.

Nice and simple site, friendly staff. When we went the restaurant wasn't open unfortunately (open tues-sat). When you arrive you pull into whichever space you want that's open, so don't expect it to be the one you reserved if someone's already there. It worked for what we needed, and it was nice being able to use the shower. It's might be a bit far if you have mobile limitations, only the back door is open after the bar closes for the bathroom facilities and there are a few steps. If we're in the area we'd visit again and hope to be there on a day the restaurant is open.

We loved, loved, loved Kristin and Zach's Retreat! Their hospitality was truly exceptional and made our trip both enjoyable and unforgettable. The property is beautiful and pristine and the views were awesome. Zach met us when we pulled in and went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed and made suggestions of places to see. A scenic 40-45 minute drive to Jackson and an additional 10-15 minutes to Grand Teton NP. I was sad to leave and we will definitely be back!

David was an excellent host, and his RV camp felt private, serene, and had nice views. There were full hook ups. We ended up booking this place last minute, after 5 PM – and David responded right away and accommodated us. There’s only a handful of spots, and you’re NOT packed in like a hundred sardines as the other location down the road. As a bonus, David recommended some great spots to ride our e dirt bikes! Alpine is a great destination enjoy peaceful nights away from the Jackson tourist crowds- but close enough to enjoy all of the hotspots during the day. If you missed boat booking your nps campsite, and hate the traditional RV park- this spot checks all of the boxes!

We enjoyed David’s RV trailer accommodations in Alpine! It was a last-minute find, and we were very appreciative that he responded quickly as daylight was waning. We had full hook ups, a beautiful view and a quiet setting. There are only a handful of sites available, so it feels private and unique- unlike the other nearby RV parks that pack you in like sardines with a parking lot vibe. As a bonus, we were able to use our E bikes on some very cool trails nearby. The 45 min drive was easy and beautiful to Jackson/ Grand Teton National Park. It was worth escaping the summer crowds around Jackson to find this little peaceful gem!

Perfect little spot right across from a beautiful park! Great location to get to the river and go do adventures! Dogs loved the quiet area too! Hookups were great and the bathroom/shower/laundry location was convenient and private.
