This area was known by the Native Americans as "Pocatalico" (land of the fat doe), and first settled by Europeans around 1890. The property itself was first settled by a man named Mayford Jones, who set the first stones here around 1910. A Jenny Lynn style farmhouse was built and the property was known as one of the best developed farms in the area. Today, the forest has returned to what was once pasture land on the majority of the 100 acre plot, and a small but intensive sustainable forest farm has been taking shape since 2013 under the current host and occupant, who prefers the term "steward" rather than "owner".

Our farm dogs patrol the property to protect our free-roaming animals, so visiting dogs must be well-behaved, leashed, and comfortable around other animals. If you're unsure about compatibility, please reach out for advice. Our dogs will come to your camp to "check you out". If your dog has a problem with other dogs that are new to them you must let us know so we can control our dogs. We have had people come with problem dogs and not tell us so, we are asking for a $1 extra that we now require as a pet fee. While you're here, visit our local businesses in Gassaway. Our farm is also home to a miniature horse and chickens. In addition to the NRG and Summersville Lake and Dam, also close by are Carnifex Ferry Battleground State Park where you can see where a crucial civil war battle took place, as well as Babcock State Park with its iconic grist mill and waterfall. We provide 7 sites on our farm for every camping style, from dry RV to tent, each with a table, fire pit and grill. All sites are spaciously separate from one another for privacy and perfect for couples who want to get away from it all, or for families or groups of friends who want to reconnect and catch up. Site 51 was relatively exposed and located next to the bathroom. We were able to grab a campsite on the Friday of the 4th of July weekend. Campground has a large number of RVs. I would prefer the river sites on a return visit.

So calming and a good place to sleep! We were just spending the night but would be a great place to spend a weekend. Sweet cats greet you, also ducks and chickens. Fridge, microwave, and coffee pot available. Enclosed bathroom with shower and toilet inside. Great little diner down the road! Just be advised there is no signal there or the surrounding area. The wifi works well for the TV but not great for cellphones.

My friends and I had a great time at Cabin 3! The hosts were quick to respond to our inquiries, and the staff were friendly and made sure we had everything we needed. The cabin can comfortably fit more than four people and still has plenty of space to move around. Both the indoor and outdoor bathrooms were clean. It’s the best place to relax, unwind, and enjoy good company. Highly recommend!

As a newbie to car camping, Camp Holly was exactly what I was looking for. Nestled in the mountains, my site #4 was perfect and had a nice little path down the bank to the creek. The pond is well maintained and there's a great hiking trail up the hill that my dog and I enjoyed. Firewood was readily available with carts to haul it the short walk back to campsite. The sites were clean and well cared for and if there was any drawback, it might be the noise of motorcycles and trucks from Rte 20 at time. (FYI bikers - WVA 15 from Flatwood to Diana and loop back north on 20 would be an amazing ride, but yeah, what part of WVa isn't?) The noise didn't bother me other than "made you look" reaction. I only mention it because it may be annoying to some. I got tired of my camp food so the last night I ordered out from the diner up the road - not to disappoint it was good old home cooked food and the owner was super friendly. Last but not least, the bath house was immaculate and was cleaned daily. I think you'll enjoy your stay at Camp Holly and highly recommend it.

Coon Creek Cove is a wonderful place to get away and recharge out in some nature. The space is very nice for a small camper like our teardrop or a tent. I wouldn’t bring any kind of large RV as the road getting into their valley is very tight with several switchbacks. Nick is an incredible host who showed us right to our site, checked up on us and always asked if we needed anything. The space is well maintained and quiet. We thoroughly enjoyed hearing the rooster crow at all hours of the day.

We had a wonderful stay with a group of 9 friends! The farm is quiet, secluded, and so peaceful! It’s walking distance to the Gauley, and one of our days we spent floating in the river as the season hasn’t begun yet. The facilities were really clean, especially for portable toilets. Overall would highly recommend!!

We had a great stay at the treehouse. Rob, the host welcomed us and made sure we had everything we needed. Our bed was comfortable and the toilet/shower area was within feet. We enjoyed spending time in the hammocks beneath the treehouse and the artisian drinking water provided was most refreshing. The property is very peaceful and we enjoyed the walk through the woods to the waterfall area. The dogs and cats on staff were spot on as well. We would definitely return and highly reccommend.

Just be warned, the drive to the property is not for the faint of heart-we were in a 4x4, it was fine. Our friends took a 4 door car, it wasn’t so pleasant for the car lol

This was a great space and the host was super nice. They've put a lot of thought into it. I'd definitely recommend it for a group of friends who all want to tent camp. The only thing I would cautions is for RVs or trailers. The actual camp site is more than big enough to accommodate one, that's not a problem. But the road to get to it is a windy, hilly dirt road that is barely a lane wide, despite having two way traffic. We had a relatively small travel trailer pulled behind a 4Runner and it was still very sketchy trying to navigate it to the camp site. There were a few times where we came around a corner and were almost hit by someone going way too fast for a road like that, and a couple of times that we almost fell off the road completely trying to get over far enough so someone could pass us. Maybe if you're a very experienced tower it wouldn't be an issue, but for us it was white knuckle the whole time. Just something to think about. But everything else about it was great!
