What makes W.T. Farm special is the diversity of textures of the landscape. We have great mountain top views, as well as, a deep holler with cliffs, rock outcroppings, and waterfalls. The fields are full of fruit and nut trees and there are 5 ponds. Each of these supports its own flora and fauna. I acquired stewardship of this land 35 years ago and have developed perennial orchards wherever possible. I started with pears and have branched out into pawpaws, apples, persimmons, currants, black walnuts etc. and I boast that I planted the first commercial hickory oil orchard in the world. I am an eccentric horticulturalist and graft cultivar varieties onto existing trees like oaks, hickories, black walnuts, and even the maligned invasive honeysuckle, autumn olive and multiflora rose. Just last year I bought an adjoining farm that opened up 50 acres of more orchard planting. It is on top of the mountain and offers an expansive view of the valley and ridge system that defines our region. Funny thing is that because the land between the old farm and the new farm is divided by cliffs in the holler the only way to get from one to the other is a 12 minute drive or vigorous hiking. On this new land is a historic log cabin I am renovating that is said to be one of the original settler's cabin on the mountain. Because of the amount of tree fruit I grow and the varied landscape, there is a rich diversity of birds and animals to be seen. One of my favorite walks is along the cliffs to the top waterfall where there is a sweet wading pool. I have also built a number of ponds and four of them are quite swimmable. One has a dock and is where we spend much summer time refreshing and frolicking. The farm is also a small (very small) licensed farm winery and we make and sell traditional hard cider from our apples and pears. Our cider can be purchased along with our nut oils and flours and other farm produce you may not be familiar with. We live to eat. Coming here is a gastronomical adventure! I run the Acornucopia project from here and from it we are developing a foragers network that would very much suit the lifestyle of hipcampers. We pay foragers for wild nuts they gather. Weekend Trip to Bluestone Camp & Retreat

Mark is a great host and communicator. He gave us clear directions on what roads are best for pulling a trailer. Our rv site was awesome as we were the only people staying here at the time. The sky was clear for amazing star gazing and this location is about an hour from New River Gorge National Park. T-Mobile home internet was “weak”, about 25 Mbps - but enough to stream a tv show. Verizon cell was about 2 bars and T-Mobile cell was 1 bar. One thing to consider when staying here is the road in is very steep - about 14-16% grade, so if you have more trailer than truck, you may burn up your transmission/brakes. We would definitely stay here again!

Beautiful place with great views of the farm fields and mountains beyond. We were there on a terribly windy late Fall day (we were right at the top of the mountain) so we are looking forward to coming back in the Spring when we can enjoy being outside more and roaming the farm.

The campsite view was absolutely stunning and the proximity to downtown Lewisburg, Fayetteville and New River Gorge made it the perfect camping spot. If you’re looking to avoid crowds and cramped camp sites we definitely recommend this location!

Amazing spot John was very welcoming the entire time we felt at home. There’s 250 acres of nothing but stunning views. There’s a ton of stuff to do right there skeet shooting a cute little putting green there are five ponds perfect for fishing. The little touches aren’t to be missed either the cute on site shower house with laundry *chefs kiss the bird houses the cute I assume from family named roads and alleys even a 55 miles according an hours sign…. If you’re looking for a place to get away and forget the world this is the place!!!! 10 out of 10 recommend

We had a great time on Aprils property. We were secluded with Mountain View's in every direction, it was breathtaking. Very quiet and well maintained spot. April and her husband were some of the kindest people we've met. They ley my kids feed the chickens and sheep and their dogs were the best, the kids played with them a lot. Would DEF stay here again.

We had a great 3 night stay . Steep driveway looked daunting, but it was nicely graveled, and my 2 wheel drive van had no problems getting up or down. Provided porta potty was nice and clean . Bundles of firewood are available for sale on site that we took advantage of . Site was large and private . Multiple spots to set up tents or hammocks by the beautiful creek. The dog had a great time … was nice to be able to let her run around off leash . Great location with easy access to the bridge and the Canyon Rim Visitor Center. Nice general store is just a short dive away that serves great food . We visited two breweries in the area … Free Folk Brewery and Bridge Works Brewery … recommend them both . Nicely wooded and shady while the leaves are on the trees. Tons of rhododendron trees … must be beautiful when they are in bloom . Would definitely stay here again in the future … highly recommended.

We’ve stayed at this property before, and it continues to be one of our favorite spots. The mountaintop setting is absolutely gorgeous, with wide-open views that make the stay feel both peaceful and memorable. It’s the kind of place that stays with you long after you leave. April and Carl were incredibly kind and considerate in helping us with a change of plans and that kind of thoughtfulness says a lot about the owners and how much they care about the experience of their guests. We highly recommend this property to anyone looking for a beautiful getaway with amazing views and genuinely wonderful hosts.

April’s land was a wonderful location for a hippie camp, but theirs is very well run. Carl and April and veteran host who know how essentials to provide for a great stay. The views are breathtaking and the environment is wonderful located on their farm a top a hill at the end of society where society meets nature.

6 nights at W.T. Farm?

WT Farm is an absolutely beautiful place! After spending a week there, I cannot believe there isn't a mile long waiting list to visit. The abundance and variety of crops Bill grows is simply astonishing and I was able to spend a time with him picking pawpaws and seeing where he makes his cider. And I was lucky enough to bring away some of his farmer's market goods that he had on hand. The campsite was above and beyond what I was expecting and I will definitely return since I didn't want to leave. If farm to table, complete serenity, or stunning night skies are your thing, this might be the place for you.

We absolutely loved this campsite. It was very secluded and beautiful. There is a little bit of road noise but it's really not that bad. With all that this area has to offer the road noise is worth it. It is right next to a creek and if the water had been flowing it would have been even better. We are definitely planning I'm going back in the spring. There are rhododendrum trees all around at the campsite, I'm told that they will bloom beautifully, I cannot wait to see them. Our host was always responsive and keeps the site very nice! Having the firewood already there and the portapotty was a real bonus. I cannot say enough nice things about this pla e. It is one of the best HipCamps I've ever been to. The location is perfect literally minutes from the area's hiking and whitewater rafting and so much more.
