Wild Yough is located in Southern Garrett County, Maryland very close to Herrington Manor State Park, Swallows Falls State Park, and the quaint mountain village of Oakland. The property adjoins thousands of acres of Garrett State Forest and hundreds of acres of state land along the Youghiogheny River. The world class Wisp resort and Deep Creek Lake are only minutes away. “Yough” is short for Youghiogheny River a state designated wild and scenic river which runs through the heart of the property. Wild Yough Glamping huts are part of more than 350 acres of private land, most of which is crisscrossed with hiking and biking trails. Youghiogheny is an Algonquin word meaning “a stream flowing in a contrary direction”, or in the case of the Yough, North toward Ohio Pyle and Pittsburgh. This section of the river is designated as a protected scenic corridor and you will feel the quiet isolation when sitting on the Crooked Butt Bench overlooking the big horseshoe bend in the river at the far back corner of our property. And if the river is low during your visit, feel free to wade across to the other side – Wild Yough owns the entire peninsula of land on the other side of the river and this is also bordered by State land.The river banks are steep on the property, but the fishing for small mouth bass is exceptional. There is a small turn around on the path just beyond Crooked Butt Bench where you can take out your canoe, kayak, or inner tubes after floating the 2+ miles from the Oakland bridge. Just be prepared to walk your water craft back up to the house or Glamping site as there is no motorized access to the river.If you like to lay on the rocks in the sun or take the kids for some wading in the river, the best place is the farthest to walk to. Take the trail to “High Bluff”, then cross the Snyder property line (Permission for trail access only – do not leave trail!), then descend down and cross the bridge across Herrington Manor Creek (a stocked trout stream!). Wild Yough property is to your right along the river and there is a great place for lying in the sun, doing some fishing, or just wading into the cool waters of the Yough on a hot summer day.Learn more about this land:The idea is simple- our glamping site will offer a true camping experience without all the hassles and fuss. You’ll have your own heated hut, warm soft bed, and private space for long evenings around the campfire. And our bathhouse and pavilion facilities are designed with comfort, cleanliness and relaxation in mind. Weekend Trip to Laurel Rock LLC # 2
What a sweet couple and adorable area they are creating! There is a hotdog stand, with an outdoor patio, where you pick up your key. Then, you climb a gravel hill to your place. We had Cabin #1 which was decorated with cactuses. It was warm and cozy with lots of space inside. We got settled in nicely and ventured off to Tygart Lake State Park. Thank You for a nice welcome and a cute place to stay for the night.

Truly a magical place for exploration and relaxation. we stayed in CB1- it has 4 beds. No light or electricity but you know that beforehand. LOTS to do and quite a bit of amenities- a coffee pavilion that has outlets for charging, an abundance of firewood ($12.50 for an entire wheelbarrow full of wood), port-a-potties with toilet paper, air fresheners, sanitation wipes, and hand sanitizer. Friendly management. Breathtaking views.

I had a lovely time! Second visit. I just bought a used tent and I wasn't willing to risk my comfort on an untried tent, so I rented a cabin to sleep in whilst evaluating it... and enjoying a couple of books. Great conversations to be had at the main fire pit as well!

I absolutely loved my stay July 22-25, in Brooklyn Heights! The rustic cabin was quaint and efficient—perfect for a cozy, comfortable getaway. Vincent is a fantastic host, super welcoming, and full of great recommendations for local spots. His coffee bar was a lovely touch, and spending time down by the river beach was a highlight. A perfect mix of charm, relaxation, and local flavor. Highly recommend!

The cabins had plenty of room and the staff were very friendly! All instructions were clearly laid out and had plenty of qr codes for venmo payments. The sites were secluded and had many areas to explore! I will definitely return here!

Loved the cabin! It was private and spacious both inside and outside. It had a fridge, microwave, A/C, and table with chairs inside, as well as a bar table on the porch and another table by the firepit. Bathhouse with a shower down the hill, compost toilet right by the cabin. The hill to reach the cabin is extremely steep, but I was able to make it up in a Jeep without using 4wd. Host were friendly and welcoming.
