W.T. Farm?

3. W.T. Farm?

What makes W.T. Farm special is the diversity of textures of the landscape. We have great mountain top views, as well as, a deep holler with cliffs, rock outcroppings, and waterfalls. The fields are full of fruit and nut trees and there are 5 ponds. Each of these supports its own flora and fauna. I acquired stewardship of this land years ago and have developed perennial orchards wherever possible. I started with pears and have branched out into pawpaws, apples, persimmons, currants, black walnuts etc. and I boast that I planted the first commercial hickory oil orchard in the world. I am an eccentric horticulturalist and graft cultivar varieties onto existing trees like oaks, hickories, black walnuts, and even the maligned invasive honeysuckle, autumn olive and multiflora rose. Just last year I bought an adjoining farm that opened up 50 acres of more orchard planting. It is on top of the mountain and offers an expansive view of the valley and ridge system that defines our region. Funny thing is that because the land between the old farm and the new farm is divided by cliffs in the holler the only way to get from one to the other is a 12 minute drive or vigorous hiking. On this new land is a historic log cabin I am renovating that is said to be one of the original settler's cabin on the mountain. Because of the amount of tree fruit I grow and the varied landscape, there is a rich diversity of birds and animals to be seen. One of my favorite walks is along the cliffs to the top waterfall where there is a sweet wading pool. I have also built a number of ponds and four of them are quite swimmable. One has a dock and is where we spend much summer time refreshing and frolicking. The farm is also a small (very small) licensed farm winery and we make and sell traditional hard cider from our apples and pears. Our cider can be purchased along with our nut oils and flours and other farm produce you may not be familiar with. We live to eat. Coming here is a gastronomical adventure! I run the Acornucopia project from here and from it we are developing a foragers network that would very much suit the lifestyle of hipcampers. We pay foragers for wild nuts they gather. Also often there is an opportunity to work on the farm harvesting and processing food. Let me know if that is something you would like to do. Treely Yours, Bill

👋Hey There! Having a mountain property to share with other outdoor lovers and creative minds has always been a dream of mine, and I'm honored to share this magical 30-acre property with you. This land sat vacant for about ten years until I started bringing it back to life last year. While the property is in its early stages, it still has much to offer! It has a few acres at the bottom of the valley with a creek that rolls through it. The remaining land is stunning mountain acreage, which you can explore. There are many unique sections of the mountains, but at a minimum, be sure to see the mountain spring! It's like a fairytale back there most of the year... I'm developing and offering many types of stays, so as you wander the property, please be kind and courteous to all guests. Be sure to respect their camp space. ☺️

This lovely private campsite is located in an open field along the New River, surrounded by woods. On the opposite bank, a wooded bluff runs alongside the New River Trail. The property features 1,000 feet of river frontage, with both open and wooded areas, sandy access to the water’s edge, and plenty of spots for bank fishing. Wildlife is plentiful—you may see deer, geese, herons, hawks, turtles, otters, and even the occasional bald eagle! Bring your water toys! This section of river is typically slow and quiet- bob around in a tube or paddle a kayak upriver a bit. Or make a day of it, and kayak down river to the Allisonia boat ramp. The campsite is grassy and nearly level. Water and a 30-amp electrical hookup are available. A bathhouse with a sink, toilet, and shower is located adjacent to the hookups and is available for your private use. Use of the riverfront is semi-private and shared only with your host, Lisa, and her occasional guests. The camping field occupies the lower portion of Lisa’s 13-acre farm. Take it easy at this unique and tranquil getaway in rural, undeveloped West Virginia. Located in Monroe County, the Corn Crib is your own private, rustic cabin on 400 private acres. Enjoy rolling pastures, incredible mountain views, and swim in your own private, mile-long stretch of creek. This tiny cabin has it all: an off-grid lifestyle with on-grid amenities. Pets stay FREE. Purchased 25 years ago, Wolf Creek Preserve is a 450-acre private nature preserve. The Corn Crib is a former corn crib where corn was stored and dried after harvest. The structure's underpinnings and exterior layout date to the late 1800s, but it was first renovated in 2004 as a hunting cabin. The Corn Crib was transformed into its current tiny-home design in 2017, with additional improvements continuing through 2025. The structure was part of an old farm that included several buildings, including a Victorian home that once served as a stagecoach stop and hotel in the 1800s. The property sits along the banks of Wolf Creek, and we own most of the land surrounding it. There are long stretches of creek, pasture, and woodland to explore. This listing features a rustic, historic corn crib from the late 1800s that has been thoughtfully updated with modern amenities, though it remains a quirky and compact space. Please note that the A/C unit and heat pump are portable and located next to the loft bed. Guests sleeping in the loft must climb narrow stairs, which may not be suitable for elderly guests or those with mobility concerns. The water comes from a well, and we do not recommend drinking it. At times, the water may have a slight sulfur smell, so guests who are sensitive to odors should be aware. The smell is not always present but may occur occasionally. Starlink internet is available and provides excellent connectivity.
