Is a 20ft diameter Bell tent yurt on a 20x24 foot platform giving you a 4foot porch to sit and listen to nature. It sleeps 2-6 people, outhouse, and outdoor shower.

We are less than a 1/4 mile from Maniac Mountain Haunted House, so you will hear the chainsaws, gun shots, and screams during the Sept-Nov time. We have 120 acres of wilderness you can explore. Be cautious of wildlife and look for WARNING signs. We have a private shooting range in the bottom fields of the property so you may hear gun shots April- September. The range is for our junior marksmanship program to practice for Nationals and local matches.
For winter months Oct-April water supply will be limited. A propane heater can be requested as well for the the yurt.

The name Cacapon was given by the native americans for the healing aspects of the water. The cabin is located on the famous Riverdale Farm property that was home of Captain David Pugh. Captain Pugh was the last person to sign succession papers to make West Virginia a state. As we say, " West Virginia started here". The property was home of one of the first schools in West Virginia, the local post office and the Hook's Mill. People have traveled to this farm to enjoy camping and outdoor leisure since the 1830s. Our property was a small family farm for several generations. Our family purchased the property about 18 years ago. Since we are not farmers but love living here, the question became "What would be the best use for the land?" Living in a scenic area and already being in the vacation rental business on some other family property answered the question. We decided to share the beautiful view and seclusion of our area with others.
Our goal was to keep the cost of building down so that we could pass on the savings to you so that you would not have to be rich to enjoy our lovely area. This inspired the idea of a glamping cabin. The cabin is actually a repurposed office building that was built about the time this property was purchased by our family. We moved it to the present location and completely remodelled it in 2018 and added the bathroom. For 4 years, guests enjoyed an off-the-grid experience.
In 2023, when we began work on the glamping dome (stay tuned--coming soon!!), we decided to add electricity, running water, and a hot tub to the tiny house!
We hope you enjoy the cabin (and, soon, the dome) and the stunning view from them as much as we enjoy sharing this beautiful spot with you!
Note: The Charming Glamping Cabin is at a totally different property. That property also has a section that used to be farmed. Now a lot of it is forest. We purchased the property around 2000. This cabin was built approx. 10 years later. At that point, the cabin was a tiny economy cabin with a sofa bed. However, it seemed most folks preferred comfort over economy, so in 2020, we added a bump-out to the side of the cabin so there would be room for a queen bed. Guests have loved the improvement. (:

Stayed here over this past weekend and was very impressed. Price was very reasonable and accommodations were significantly better than expected - everything was very nice and included an excellent grill, good furniture/bedding, and a kitchen stocked with the essentials (pots, pans, utensils, coffee makers [Keurig and regular coffee pot], and so on). The cabin itself is at the end of the other lodges - so it's a bit more private - which is also nice.
Additionally, when we first arrived the hot tub was not hot. I called the front desk, and they came out with 30 minutes and fixed the issue, and it warmed up by evening. Great service and the staff were super friendly.
Also, the river is only about 30 feet away from the cabin. We did lots of fishing and it was awesome to have it so close to our location.

2 nights at Riverdale Farm- River Glamping
Our weekend to unplug was perfect. There was WiFi so we could play music, then airplane mode. Sitting by the fire both nights with some music and just our conversations was amazing. We visited the butcher shop in the little town of Capon Bridge and bought the best steaks. Hiked a bit up the creek bed and explored a little. And the hot tub at the house was perfect and romantic. Such a great getaway location.

I had a great stay here! The hosts greeted me with a sweet birthday bag, which was such a thoughtful touch. The yurt itself was spacious, clean, and had all the amenities you could need, including cooking pans and utensils. I especially enjoyed relaxing in the hot tub while listening to the peaceful sounds of nature. Check-in instructions were clear and easy to follow, and they even included directions to the yurt, which made everything seamless. Overall, a wonderful stay. Highly recommend!

My fiance and I (along with our two dogs) booked the Yurt for our of stay while we explored the beautiful mountains of WV after a fresh coat of snow. We had booked our stay during the middle of a significant winter storm and delayed our drive. We messages Shawn and Catherine and they were very quick to respond back to us while we figured out our travel plans. They even started the pellet stove so that we could get some much needed warmth in the well-beyond zero temperatures outside.
Our Yurt was very well maintained and came with all the necessities for our stay. We enjoyed the Roku TV they have set up so you can cozy up in bed or on the pull-out futon. We also got to have the experience of going out to our hot tub while the wind chill was in the negatives! Check out was very easy and Shawn and Catherine gave use plenty of instruction for our check in and check out.
Overall, I think this may have been one of our best “camping” experiences. This was our first time staying in a Yurt as we typically stay in a dome. The pellet stove was an absolute necessity and we had more than enough fuel to fight the cold. Shawn and Catherine were fantastic hosts and we look forward to our next stay here!!

Weekend Trip to Olde Tyme Cabins
The location was perfect! We felt secluded in our little camp and were able to hike up the hillside nearby. We loved the campfire with the lights strung around, and there were roasting sticks in one of the RV cubbies. The hot tub was amazing. We did get rained out of the hot tub, since there is no awning over it, but once the rain stopped, we were able to enjoy again. The master bed was comfortable, and the bunk beds have a curtain to keep lights out for later sleepers. We camped in mid-November and stayed warm and cozy the whole time. Our only complaint was the water. It never quite worked well enough to shower, and washing dishes was frustrating. We did let our hosts know, and they came quickly to work on it, which helped for a short while, but didn't last the duration.

Spent a weekend during the fall season of 2025. Perfect cabin tucked away in a different section away from most of the RVs. The river runs next to it which will be wonderful during rains and when the water levels are up. We traveled as a family of 4 whereas the cabin can sleep 9 - 2 bunk beds for 4 kids. Elkins town is about 10 -15 minute drive for all groceries - Kroger, Walmart and all essentials. Strongly recommend for people who love to enjoy an RV park but want to maintain their own personal space..

Weekend Trip to Glamping on Timber Ridge
This cabin is truly amazing and worth the drive. Well kept and has all the necessities including cooking essentials. Minutes from Seneca Rocks while also being secluded and private. Loved the walking path where we could see horses from at dusk. Will definitely recommend to others.

Weekend Trip to Glamping on Timber Ridge
Cozy little tiny house! My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our two night stay here. Accommodations were as described with the exception of the hot tub which appears to have been upgraded from the inflatable one shown in the pictures! Hot tub was plenty hot and we enjoyed it for a good 25 minutes each night during our stay in late fall! The place was easy to find based on the directions given. Be prepared to have absolutely zero cell service, though we were able to get a few texts out via satellite reception on our cell phones.

Potomac Highlands
