2 nights at Simple Roots Ranch

We really enjoyed Sharon’s whimsical Potting Shed with its cosy interior and all the yummy fresh berries and vegetables that the garden offers! There were so many little nooks and cranny everywhere to enjoy some romantic time. The doggos, Gala and Bodhi, were also perfect hosts, checking up on us. Can’t wait to be back in the different seasons to enjoy the garden!

The camp site was very nice and clean, the cabin was clean and comfortable and kept pretty warm at night. When it god colder the propane heater worked great. The host was very gracious, she showed us around and showed us how to use the heater. No one bothered us our whole trip and the host was available if we needed anything. We went to town on our second day and picked up things we forgot, the local IGA had everything we needed. My Subaru forester made it up the big hill just fine, just like she says don’t hesitate but 4 wheel drive helped a lot. Would definitely stay here again!

1 night at Simple Roots Ranch

A+++. Our stay at the Potting Shed was beyond delightful. The lovely room had a comfortable bed and a view of the gardens. The outdoor kitchen had everything a cook could need, and we really loved the logwood countertops,. There were even fresh berries in the refrigerator for us, plus fresh cut garden flowers, lovely soaps and tea cloths, etc. The outside shower room was equally cute with its clawfoot bath (as a shower) and fresh cut lavender and scrub salts. The couple was so kind, making us very feel welcome, even starting the campfire for us and sharing fresh greens from their extensive vegetable gardens. The property is beautiful, I only wish we’d set aside more time to explore the property. We would stay here again in a heartbeat.

1 night at Grace E.’s Mini Forest Cabins

I cannot begin to recommend this Hipcamp enough. We recently stayed in Cabin 1 and were completely satisfied with both the cabin and the surrounding property. The camp host was very helpful in showing us around, making sure questions were answered and even a last-minute adjustment. The area around the property is packed with all kinds of outdoor activities all within short driving distance. Great dog property to burn off excess energy and not have to worry about any side-eye from the neighbors. We will absolutely be returning to this site again in the future. Thank you very much Grace for welcoming us to your beautiful campsite. See you again soon.

The Simple Roots Ranch Potting Shed was very quaint and situated within a lush garden. Both Sharon and Dave were very accommodating to my kids and I during our 2 night stay. We enjoyed fresh berries from the garden, strolled through the wooded trails, and generally enjoyed the well tended grounds. A beautiful stay.

Sweet little getaway just outside of the city. The dogs loved it and it was private and tucked away so we didn’t need to worry about them running off.

Very cute little rustic cabin, but the land around the cabin in my opinion is what made our stay so nice. It's beautiful secluded and peaceful. We had a great stay. Would very much recommend to my friends and family.

Weekend Trip to Simple Roots Ranch

This is a magical spot - my teen daughter and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The weather was a tad damp, which hindered our exploring a bit of the property and gardens, but the accommodations were really comfortable and the small touches and details very appreciated. Outdoor seating under cover was really lovely in the morning and the kitchen is well appointed with basics (coffee!! Thank you!!) The property was quiet with only occasional street noise and lots of bird activity to watch. Strawberries were in full fruit and so delicious. Really enjoyed talking with Dave - great hosts. This is a gem. Thank you for the memories!

Weekend Trip to Grace E.’s Mini Forest Cabins

The cabin was cozy, clean and warm. We slept great. We came on our bikes. Grace and Brian were fantastic hosts - hospitable, generous and kind. They provided us with a place to charge our batteries and Brian took us up to our cabin and drove us back to the trailhead in his truck. He built three small cabins there with battery lanterns, fire pits, tables and a very clean outhouse.

Great spot with several places to camp. And for those who would rather have a bed the little cabin is a great alternative. There is a wonderful little walk for those who have children or who don’t want “hikes” but still want the woods, there is a mile hike to a watering hole. He also provided a cart for you to bring all your camping supplies to the cabin. What a great spot. Would go again. Maybe with more friends and family where we all could be together but apart at the different spots.

The cottage itself was as expected: cute and intimate. The land around it was spectacular! Amazing birdsong and many types of berries: Very restorative. And Sarah was a wonderful host--informative, attentive, and friendly, but gave us all the space and privacy we needed. Highly recommend. Get your dreams of rest off the back burner. Do it now!

Weekend Trip to Valhalla Tree Farm

Where to begin? This property and camp site were absolutely incredibly. Perfectly tucked away into a beautiful moss covered forest. All we could hear all weekend were the sounds of the birds. It was so peaceful! The cabin comfortable housed two adults and two small kids (we used a pack n play and a kids air mattress). The potable water, outhouse, heated outside shower and propane burner inside the cabin made the experience so nice! No need to pack a ton of water or propane bottles for cooking!! The perfect site for a group of people. We explored many of the hikes that Dave included in his informational packet. Everyone had a magical time and we can't wait to return!

Secluded Olympic Cabin ☜(ﾟヮﾟ☜)

Incredible location! This sweet cabin is nestled at the base of Mt. Jupiter, directly between Dosewallips beach and the Olympic national Park. There's lots of gorgeous, mossy maples, shaggy cedars, and elk herds roaming free. The Cabin is easily accessible from the road, and has parking available. There's a secluded fire pit behind the cabin with a seasonal stream running by. Its a relaxing place to hang out for a few days, and/or excellent basecamp to explore the amazing forests, mountains, and beaches nearby. Also, there's lots of great foraging to be done (nettles, mushrooms, and oysters; oh my!) GPS LOCATION: When driving to the cabin, your GPS will tell you that 'your destination is on the left'. This is a lie. The cabin will be on the right. There is a metal gate that is closed with a chain but not locked. CABIN LAYOUT AND SLEEPING AMENITIES: The Cabin is just a little guy; only 16'x20'. There is a kitchen, living room, and dining room area, and the bathroom is a separate room - we call it our 'studio cabin'. We have a fold out couch for which we provide linens, pillows, and a comforter. There is also an inflatable mattress that is a tight squeeze, but can allow for four people to sleep (with a little furniture rearranging). There is a deck that is large enough for a two person tent that would also make a four person camp-out comfortable. All linens and towels are stored in the trunk and the bathroom cabinet. There is a 4' round dining room table with four chairs and a small table on the porch with two more chairs. All the cushions for the chairs are in a cabinet under the table inside. ACCESSIBILITY: Unfortunately, the cabin is not wheelchair accessible. There are 5 stairs up to the deck and the bathroom door is only 27" wide. SURROUNDING AREA: There are small trails leading away from the cabin; do not walk down them! They lead to neighboring properties and I cannot guarantee that there won't be neighbors who would be very surprised by a stranger showing up on their land! There are lots of public trails only a few minutes drive in either direction from the property :) STOLEN LAND: This property is on stolen, indigenous land. If you are Coast Salish or Makah, please get in touch with me for a discounted stay.

Camp Keyser Forest Camp

Camp Keyser is a wooded 5 acre parcel in the mountains, near mountain loop highway - in the center of everything wonderful in the northern cascade mountains. We have one private cabin and 6 campsites. Tent campers will enjoy the lush landscape of a mature forest with sites along the (seasonal) Thirsty Creek. Nearby (3 minute walk), users can contemplate views of Whitehorse Mountain, Jumbo Mountain, Glacier Peak, and Whitechuck Mountain. This part of the Stillaguamish valley and the adjacent Mountain Loop Highway is known for a great selection of hiking trails, at all skill levels. It is perfect hub for all of your outdoor interests. The trailhead for the summit of Whitehorse Mountain is just a mile away, as is Old Mine Road trail (45 minute hike ending in 2 waterfalls). A 15-20 minute walk takes campers to a swimming hole in the cool Stillaguamish river for a dip or a paddle. Even closer is Whitehorse Regional Trail (great for biking, walking and horseback riding) built on the bed of the former BNSF railroad through the North Stillaguamish River Valley, spanning over 27 miles. The nearly level trail meanders through the valley, rewarding visitors with picturesque, landscape views of forests, farmland, streams and rivers, and mountain vistas. Sites have a generous fire pit and access to a Porta-Potty. For bathing I recommend cool dip in the Stillaguamish River. In season there is also fishing, snowshoeing, concerts at the blue grass festival grounds, a rodeo, and so much more.

This information is based on stories from some old timers my husband had spoken to in the past when he bought this property in 2002. The owner back in the old days sold off parcels and parcels of lands back then. The property is all fenced in, a place where your fur buddy can run free so you don't have to worry of the baby getting lost! Hopefully you'll get a visit from a deer and hear the hooting of the owl. :) You are welcome to check out our goats too if you want (they're in their enclosed space). The surroundings are peaceful and private, you will enjoy exploring the trails all around the 9 acres out of 12 we are sharing. Stroll down the hill to listen to the sounds of the creek and fish ladder. Our campground cabins are about 4.9 miles from the 'Granite Falls Fish Ladder'. Visit this beauty at Mountain Loop Highway if you fancy a little hike. Drive around 7 miles to the 'Lime Kiln Trailhead. The trail is full of amazing views and history. Our place is only about 45 minutes from Seattle. Why not pack your tent and sleeping bags then drive here after work, then leave in the morning. Leave your worries behind.. enjoy nature.
