Hi! Welcome to Custer Family Glamping! We are so glad you are here ;) Our 10-acre property is located in Custer, WA in the Northwest corner of Whatcom County. Custer is an easy 20-minute drive to Bellingham, 10-15 minutes to 2 coastal beaches (Birch Bay and Semiahmoo), and only 10 minutes to Blaine and the Canadian border. We love to host our friends and show people around our beautiful slice of the PNW🌲 We are a big family, so we designed all of our glamping sites to be kid and pet friendly and big enough to fit families of 2-6. A little luxury and ease for the grownups and a magical nature experience for the kids. Kids are allowed to "just be" here. Cellular reception isn't great but no one seems to notice. Not when they are busy building forts, roasting marshmallows and climbing up tree houses. The intention infused into all of our spaces is a Hygge* (pronounced hoo-gah) vibe. *Hygge is a calm, comfortable time with people you love. The absence of frustrations; often enjoyed with warm drinks, cozy blankets and candlelight or a fire.❤️ County Noise Statement: We love living in rural Whatcom County and we know land owners in our area love it too. In fact, their enthusiasm for the great outdoors is so high that sometimes they can generate sounds that will travel throughout the day. These are likely sounds you are not accustomed to hearing in a traditional neighborhood. Distant noises such as: -county shooting range located a few miles away -tractors -mowers & chainsaws -ATV vehicles -barking dogs -farm animals (goat, horses, crowing roosters) -wild animals (early morning bird song and owls at night) -children laughing -adult voices -train horn Evenings are generally very quiet and peaceful as night falls with the exception of holiday weekends as the enthusiasm for owning property in the country may ramp up ;) We tell you all this in order to be fully transparent about noise potential. If the potential for noise and the nearby shooting range will be a damper on your glamping experience, no worries! We totally get it! Our place is probably not the best fit. If you want to bring your kids to a place where they can build a fort, take a break from their screens and build family memories over a campfire, then you will love it here! The Gem is a beautiful tiny home in a cozy setting in the woods. It has a semi private drive. Hiking trails through the woods, with a glimpse of Church mountain out the door and just a jaunt to Cornell creek. Bodigers bond across the street and the Mt. Baker/Snoqualamie national forest right out your front door. It's a 1/4 mile from Glacier, Wa and 17 miles from the Mt. Baker ski area. Please note, this cabin accommodates 3 people. I will allow 5 but there is not beds for 5 people. 2 people are welcome to sleep in a tent under the poll barn. There is an additional charge for the 2 extra people. We don't allow dogs in the Gem at this time. Feel free to check out our other cabins on the same property. The Nook and The LTC both allow dogs.

Bear cabin was great! It is a simple, small cabin on a beautiful farm. We met the owner Alex on our first night when he was out feeding the animals. They have several ponies on the property, a horse, goats, chickens, a herd of friendly cows and a farm cat and dog to complete the set. We loved our stay and would stay again as a base camp for nearby hikes and recreation.

We had a fantastic stay at the Farmhouse! The hosts were responsive, friendly, and helpful. We spent most of our time at a friend's place on Lake Cavanaugh, and we loved the convenience of the back road, which is just a minute away. It made the 20-minute drive to the lake effortless. This house is a great option for anyone needing more space while visiting the area. Two families with a total of three children shared the house, and we all had plenty of room and stayed comfortable thanks to the AC. We love to cook and aside from some staples we brought from home found the kitchen stocked with everything we needed for meals and baking. The private backyard and porch were a definite bonus, offering a lovely, quiet space to relax outdoors.

This campsite was everything my kids and I could have hoped for—and more! From the moment we arrived, it felt like stepping into a dream. The treehouse alone was worth the trip—cozy, creative, and so much fun for the kids (and me too, let’s be honest). It had the perfect balance of adventure and comfort. What truly blew me away was how thoughtfully everything was set up. They didn’t miss a single detail. We had everything we needed—from kitchen essentials to little touches like a speaker for music, which made our evenings around the fire feel extra special. You can tell this place was created by someone who genuinely understands what makes camping feel effortless and memorable. It was peaceful, clean, and had that magical “hidden gem” vibe. We’ve already talked about coming back, and I can’t recommend it enough to other families looking for an escape that blends nature with comfort. Hands down one of our favorite trips ever!

I simultaneously want to tell everyone and no one about this place so that I can selfishly escape here without all of the competition. 4 nights at The Gem at Mt. Baker.

This place was a great find! My daughter and I were so happy with our stay here. Everything was very clean when we arrived. The little kitchenette was perfect for our needs, and we enjoyed several simple meals. The bathroom is tiny but completely functional. There is only about 4-5 minutes of hot water for showering, but that’s enough if you know about it ahead. The location is terrific, close to beautiful trails and a slightly longer drive to Mt Baker. The host provided great instructions—definitely screenshot them as she suggests because there is no cell phone service in the area. We couldn’t figure out the animal-proof trashcan, unfortunately, felt bad about that because we had to rush out to make our boat on the last day. This place had everything we needed, and we’d love to visit again!

Weekend Trip to Oso Highlands

We spend long weekend with my 8 year old son in Bear Cabin. Surroundings were spectacular, family friendly, many hiking trails around. Cabin was absolutely beautiful, sparkling clean, comfortable beds and everything you needed for your stay. Karmin and Alex are kind and helpful people. My son said that it’s the best place in the world! Can’t argue. Highly recommend for everyone and will be back again for sure.
