There is evidence of civil war activity here and the old river ford is on our property. Creek and river access make this a beautiful, peaceful place that is full of life. The energy here is overwhelmingly positive. Our house was built in the 1850s and the neighboring farm was built shortly after—lots of history on this property. You will be able to camp right next to Glade Creek which is always cool, clean, and refreshing. Our goal with opening the land up for camping is to eventually phase out commercial farming on the property and transform it into woodlands using native plants and trees. We've already started by planting hundreds of native tree species along the creek and river banks. Each camper gets us closer to that goal! Thanks for your support! Hawkwood Farm is a historic property in the Catoctin Mountains. The house dates back to 1803. At that time, it is documented that there was a blacksmith shop on the property. There is a functioning blacksmith shop today, as well as an expansive wood working shop. A ;band of rhyolite runs through the property that was used by Native Americans for spear points dating back to the paleolithic period. Presently, we strive to live as sustainably and as closely to nature as possible, being good stewards of the land that we are blessed to call home. If you are looking for lots of open space with a sensational view of the sky then this is the place for you! This site is great for viewing all kinds of celestial events. Easy to find site but definitely have an off road capable vehicle to cross the stream. Low slung sedans won't make it Camp site was clean, flat, and private. Only major criticism is easier access to the Porta John. You need to drive back across the stream to get to it as the sewer pipe cannot be used to walk across. Driving out isn't always a option with tents in the way. My other personal opinion is the fire ring could be bigger. Seemed too small for such a large site

Had a great time tent camping here! The site was the perfect size and nicely situated next to the creek and away from other sites. We had a little trouble finding our way to the site but we were in the dark 😅 had no trouble crossing the river and the area felt very safe. Would recommend!

Overall, this was a great camping spot — beautiful views and an easy walk to the river. The only downsides were that it could’ve been cleaned up a bit more (some faded signs and a little trash here and there), and our site was closer to the road than expected, so there was some traffic noise. And while not the campground’s fault, there were so many spiders! That said, I’d still be more than likely to come back — no place is perfect, and that’s part of the camping experience!

Lovely spot with easy access to the site (beware you must have a vehicle with ample clearance for a stream crossing) and river access just over a small hill from the camp area. Note: you cannot see the river from the camp site. And if you are wanting a very quiet experience think again because there is a continuous hum of traffic from Route 15, day and night. There is a nice circular walking path if you want to take a stroll around the fields. For something close to Baltimore it's a good option.

My son’s first time camping and I have been waiting until he was old enough to take him and teach him all I learned at his age. This was amazing! Excellent site, plenty of room, stocked some firewood for us to get started, and just generally an amazing first camp with my boy. Not too far away either, and was just a cool site right by the river. Couldn’t be better and Will never forget this site!

My group of 4 loved Site 5! There was so much space, had its own trail to the creek, and was pretty easy to find. I was surprised that we had to drive through a shallow creek to get there but it wasn’t a problem! We went on a hike in Fredrick Municipal Forest (~25 min away) where there are plenty of trails. We went mid-october and the foliage was scenic. Overall a great trip, a great location, and site! Thank you!

Camping on the meadow at Hawkwood Farm was a delight. The campsite is back far from the road in the midst of fields, but you can drive your car along easy paths up an area very close to the campsite. The design and landscaping of the meadow area is very charming: a large ring area with mown paths and circles within it, and a firepit, picnic table, and some camp chairs in the middle. An extremely quiet and peaceful place. There's also a clean and well-maintained port-a-potty that's about 200 yards away from the campsite. I will likely come back for another stay (and hopefully persuade my girlfriend to join me)

3 nights at Hawkwood Farm

There is no micromanaging at this property. They let you be you and enjoy yourself. I ran out of firewood around 8:30 p.m. and sent a message about two cords which is $20 and he brought it out within 30 minutes.. Awesome property thank you guys so much. I did leave a bag of trash bagged up right there by the fire pit. I'm from out of town just traveling through and didn't know where to put it and I definitely did want to throw it in the woods.
