Our property boasts 400+ feet of river frontage for you to enjoy and you can swim, fish, or even launch a canoe directly from our sites. About the property Our property is located adjacent to the historic Warren Ferry crossing of the James River. This is one of two historic ferry crossings near Scottsville, VA! The other, Hatton Ferry, is located a little bit down river from this location. Our property is only 8 miles from Scottsville so if you need to pop into town for something you forgot it is quite easy. There are many other activities that you can partake in nearby or on our property. There is fishing, swimming, hiking, and kayaking all within easy reach of our property. We live onsite (total property acreage is 16 miles) and we can reached over the phone or text. If you have any questions before or during your stay please don’t hesitate to reach out. The owner does reserve the right to use the river access, for activities such as kayak launch/recover, during the stay. Keep in mind that during the night it is possible to hear some train activity from across the river.

Near Waynesboro. if you want to come during off season, contact us, perhaps we can host you. We are in a rural area, near a town, and on a lovely scenic road with no streetlight or stop lights. Near the Blue Ridge hills, Appalachian trail, Sherando Lake, several camp grounds, South River, many streams and some national forest. We once had a large group of permaculture students that was very satisfied. We are developing in 2025 Lots of open here so campfires are ok. Warren Ferry Cabin - a rustic cabin experience. There are 2 cots available inside. Bring your own cots, air mattresses, or sleeping bags to sleeping up to 6. No plumbing available but there is an outhouse on the side of the cabin.

The drive to the cabin is on gravel and pretty easy to navigate, it’s kept up very well and is a nice place to stay. They have a wood burner that keeps the cabin warm during winter and cheap wood prices which is amazing $8 a night. Definitely coming back for the summer!!!!

2 nights at Dragonfly Homestead

Paul's place is perfect tent or rv camping if you need no or few amenities. The ground is flat allowing for easy driving access for any size rig. We stayed in the back corner in our Scamp 13 and had plenty of privacy. The location is only minutes from the Food Lion in Stuarts Draft and just a short drive to nearly unlimited amenities in Waynesboro. If you are considering a move to the area, a plus is that Paul is a Realtor with a focus on helping buyers find rural property. He has a real interest in permaculture and small homesteading/hobby farm type properties and he knows the area.

A friend of mine and I stayed at Forest site. To me it was the second time to camp at Forest site. We had a very relaxing beautiful autumn night with a nice camping fire. Gail was a great host as always —- kind, considerate and generous. Gail let my friend use her sauna house in the morning even when she was quite busy. My friend enjoyed taking the sauna. The forest was beautiful in the sun light reflected by the fall foliage. It was even nicer to be able to see a few horses among the trees at a distance, eating hay quietly. The well maintained forest condition suggests that Gail has been a very diligent worker.

An amazing campsite along the James River, very private and well appointed with great fire pit, picnic table, fire wood if needed, and port-potty. Dogs loved the river and beautiful sunrise. Train across the river a few times each day/night which we considered a plus. Lots of wildlife to hear at night.... cows, owls and surprisingly coyotes!!!! Close proximity to great hiking, vineyards, and breweries. We will be back.

Loved everything about Terry's place. The view is absolutely beautiful, loved the covered pavilion and huge fire pit. Terry showed up with a truck load of wood soon after we arrived. We kept the fire going night and day as it got pretty chilly at night. My grandson loved the rope swing. Easy access to the river. We are already planning our next trip!!

Gail’s place was so lovely. Nothing beats waking up to see the horses out in the pasture. The outhouse and shower were well maintained, and there was plenty of firewood on the property for use. There were a lot of places to hike nearby and some nice breweries and wineries around the area. Will definitely be back!

The site was spectacular. We booked the full site (cabin + tent) and it was very spacious and beautiful. River access was straightforward, though via a short but steep hill. The only downside was the morning trains, as others have mentioned. Both toilet facilities were fine, but the port-a-potty was better. The cabin lighting didn’t work, which wasn’t an issue for our group since we were all tent camping anyway, but something to be aware of if you were in need of it. JJ was very responsive to requests around arrival and departure time.

We loved camping on Terry’s land! Our sprinter van fit perfectly and the covered area and fire pit were awesome. The views and scenery across the fields and down by the river were so beautiful. The freedom the dogs had at this completely private site was second to none.

This property was so beautiful! We took advantage of the bathtub, outdoor shower, yoga studio and sauna. We hiked Humpback Rock and stopped at 2 wineries, as well as dinner at Blue Mountain Brewery. It was a perfect weekend. Thank you Gail!
