We offer primitive camping (tents) along Reed Creek in Wythe County, Virginia. Although we are a primitive campground, we do offer amenities to make your stay comfortable, including portable toilets and trash collection. We do NOT provide potable water or electricity at our sites. We have five regular waterfront sites, one waterfront drive-in truck tent site, and two day use sites. All sites have a firepit and table. We do have additional overflow sites on the property, so if you see that we are sold out, just contact us!
There is also a shared common area that includes a picnic table, large charcoal grill, swing set, and several mini libraires.
*KAYAK - CANOE - AND TUBE RENTALS, WITH SHUTTLE SERVICE*
Rentals and shuttle vans are available on the weekends and holidays (weather permitting). Paddlers property has approximately 1/2 mile of creek frontage. From there you are approximately another 1/2 mile from the New River. You can either start your trip at Paddlers or we can shuttle you to/from other local areas (including Foster Falls and Allisonia boat ramp)!

Welcome to Peak A View Farm & Camp where Rest and Relaxation are a Reality! Come enjoy the beautiful landscape of the western mountains in Ashe County, NC on ninety acres of farmland and forest surrounded by mountain peaks, the New River and breathtaking sunsets. On the drive in, to the southeast you can see Peak Mountain for which the property was named. The mountain is part of the New River State Park and is known for its scenic river views and hiking trails.
Two RV buddy campsites are available on the property. Campsite #1 was originally created for our personal use. Campsite #2, so our fellow camping buddies could join us. Although a short drive from our homes, the serenity of the property always makes us feel as if we’ve travelled many miles. Campsites are laid out in an ‘L’ shape which creates the perfect group camping experience. Guests can choose to camp alone or invite others. Campsite 1 and 2 are reserved together as one booking due to the close proximity of the sites.
The property is secluded, but easily accessible. Campsites are full hookups which include water, sewer and 50 amp electric. Both sites can accommodate any size RV. They are gravel and level which makes getting set up easy. A 30 x 30 shelter with concrete floor, lights, picnic tables and trash bin is nearby, which is a great asset in any weather. A fire pit and chairs are a nice addition for evening enjoyment. Firewood is provided. WiFi is available.
The area is pet friendly. Pets can be off leash, however, you might consider leashing your pet, as wildlife is frequently seen. If your furry friend is anything like our dogs, the chase is on when a deer, squirrel or turkey makes a sudden appearance!
During your stay, take a 7/10 mile walk down to the New River. Pull up one of the chairs on the small covered deck overlooking the river, sit back and take in the sounds of the calming waters. Watch floaters, kayakers and canoe navigators pass by or enjoy your own floating, fishing and swimming. On the other side of the river is part of the New River State Park.
A 15 minute drive will take you to downtown West Jefferson for restaurants and shopping. Visit the Ashe County Chamber of Commerce online or downtown for information on our county’s many attractions and events.

This was a great spot to set up for the weekend. Ample, flat space. The stand up bar was extremely useful and well thought out. The fire pit was a great size. We let the hosts know ahead of time that we were interested in purchasing firewood and they had it waiting for us, and they covered it from the weather. Port-a-potty close by and it was what you’d expect, well stocked with TP and hand sanitizer. The river view was awesome and there was so much wildlife to see, and we were lucky enough to spot an otter. Recommend!
Worth noting:
-the drive down to the site is steep and a mix of gravel and pavement and finishing in grass, there is lots of hipcamp signage but heads up
-the train tracks are active and close

Myself, boyfriend and two pups had the pleasure of staying at the Wind Song yurt this past weekend and it was absolutely amazing. Couldn’t have asked for anything better! The place was stunning, stocked for all needs and a great getaway. Jodee was great at communicating with any questions with incredible timing. I highly recommend checking the place out for a mental check out for the views are spectacular. Thanks for a memorable trip!

We loved this tent shelter spot with a beautiful view of the New River! It felt like a little upgrade from normal tent camping since we had such a sturdy shelter, a nice picnic table, a sink, etc. It was wonderful being able to see the stars and the sun rise from our sleeping bags each day. We will definitely be back to this spot! Super easy to find and a beautiful little area.

Beautiful property. Our families enjoyed the peace and quiet. Little to no traffic along the road. I think we saw 10 cars all weekend! And the River is gorgeous. We definitely want to get back in the summer and enjoy some tubing. And town is less than a 20 minute drive to enjoy restaurants and shopping. Thanks Steve and Penny.

What a beautiful spot! Right on the creek and well maintained. We had the campground to ourselves probably bc tubing season is over so it was extra peaceful. Easy 20 or so minute drive to get to a parking lot for the New River Trail. Great spot all around.

This was our first time using Hipcamp. Family of 4 + 2 dogs, Thursday and Friday night = $267.52
We are not frequent campers but this is the best outfitted tent site we have been to. There were plenty of tables, and 3 fire or coal grills. The portapotty was a very nice options.
The access to the river was an exceptional bonus. Our boys enjoyed playing in the river even though it was a little chilly it kept them entertained.
Ronnie delivering firewood is shut and amazing benefit. Ronnie, I hope you guys get that trip to Alaska soon.
This is no reflection on the owners but the first night the rain passed by about 7 times and the 2nd night only 4 times.
It didn’t bother the heavy sleepers but if your a light sleeper it might make it difficult, but being a peaceful site there is plenty of time for naps during the day.

Stunning views! Adorable ‘shelter/cabin’ Love the twinkle lights. Prepare for a hike to the river. It’s a leg work out. Very secluded and sweet spot. My sprinter is 23’. (No where to turn around) but I backed it down the hill and got it situated. Be prepared if you have a larger vehicle.

Great place to stay! Host are great people and very welcoming. The campsite is very private and has amazing views. We enjoyed relaxing fires every night and watching the fog lift to coffee in the morning. The access to the river is a huge plus. The trail to get to the river is beautiful itself, but the river front is perfect. Our dogs enjoyed running around and we enjoyed relaxing by the water. This place is added to our list of sites that we will be returning to in the future.

This was a great place to car camp and or tent camp. Lots of flat grass to tent on and a porta potty close by. Right next to the water and didn’t mind the train sound at night. The driveway is steep and curvy and my front wheel drive car had a hard time getting back up due to loose gravel but made it up. Beautiful place and recommend on checking it out.
