Blue Ridge Yurts is a woman-owned company in Floyd, Virginia, started by my mother, Sharon. We were staying at Treebones, a yurt 'glampground' in Big Sur, California, and fell in love with yurts together. My mom said, "I think I could build one of these," and the company was born! She does all the woodworking, using sustainable practices, with locally-sourced wood, and her best friend Kathy does the fabric end of things. I was one of her early guinea pigs, and love my yurt property dearly <3 This 24' yurt sits on a beautiful private acreage off an end-state maintenance road, with biking and hiking trails just a 20 minute drive from the touristy town of Floyd, Virginia. Mother Earth is 3 miles from I-77, exit #8, 3 miles from the Blue Ridge Parkway, and sits in the Blue Ridge Mountains. The yurt is 15 mins from Mt Airy NC which is a destination for outdoors activities, wineries, breweries, and has a gorgeous downtown area. Fancy Gap is famous for the BRPW, hiking, mountain biking, and all types of outdoor activities. Mother Earth has a walk in shower, soaking tub, bluetooth music, wifi, and a hot tub. a full kitchen and washer and dryer. I provide all your paper products, coffees, creamer, sugar, shower products and more. it’s in a wooded area with nice views and wildlife in abundance. The deck is gated for toddlers and pets. Check out the secluded porch swing underneath. Our pet fee is an additional $25 left on the counter. Stargazing is at its best here, and lots of back roads to walk and explore. Check out Beamers Knob for a gorgeous long range view, about a mile from the yurt. It’s breathtaking! This yurt also has a generator to keep things going, in case of a power failure due to inclement weather.

Kitchen with two coffee makers, microwave, full size refridge stovetop, air fryer, toaster oven and a kettle. This yurt is great for a couple or a couple with a small child, I provide a blowup mattress, twin size with linens.. The yurt faces the creek, and a rock wall on the other side making this property very private except for our cabin on the same property. It is fenced with split rail fencing and has a solar powered gate, with a gate fob provided. We are dog friendly, with a $25 pet fee per stay. This is a safe, beautiful area to visit nearby Floyd, a nearby kayak rental shuttle service, breweries, a meadery 2 miles away, and many other unique finds. Beautiful Mountain View’s and backwoods drive. A unique wool farm is just down the dirt road with a cash only roadside stand.

Weekend Trip to WindSong in the treetops/hot tub

Myself, boyfriend and two pups had the pleasure of staying at the Wind Song yurt this past weekend and it was absolutely amazing. Couldn’t have asked for anything better! The place was stunning, stocked for all needs and a great getaway. Jodee was great at communicating with any questions with incredible timing. I highly recommend checking the place out for a mental check out for the views are spectacular. Thanks for a memorable trip!

We really enjoyed our stay at Mother Earth and our dog did too. Beautiful views , peaceful very secluded with all the comfort of home. We love the way they set up the yurt really cool how they decorated and designed it inside and out, romantic and fun, nice fire pit with wood provided, wrap around deck with hot tub and seating picnic table & rockers, spacious bathroom, very clean, we would definitely go back and highly recommend.

Our absolutely wonderful 10 Wedding Anniversary stay at Magical Riverside Yurt by JoDee, was the getaway we needed. Laid back, private, peaceful and amazingly well stocked with almost everything you'd ever want. The coffee bar was amazing. Sitting in the hot tub while looking at the billions of stars with the full Milky Way overhead was epic. Our first time staying in a Yurt was a pleasure. I had no idea it would be so comfortable and accommodating. JoDee has I think 5 different properties to choose from. Make sure to check out this well deserved Super Host.

Weekend Trip to Magical Riverside Yurt w/hot tub

Stayed on a long weekend with my partner and our two dogs and can’t overstate what an amazing space Jodee has created. It delivered everything we were initially looking for: a great space for the dogs to run around and play, a creek to wade/fish, living amenities (kitchen, bathroom, ac/heat, bed), great views, and a place to unwind (hot tub/firepit/hammock). What we didn’t expect was how much attention to detail and well curated everything was in an unassuming yurt. Everything, from the arrangements of the stones in the firepit to the hippy decor, felt so well curated and thoughtfully put together. Throughout our stay we would find more little details that really just helped us fall more in love with the place. Jodee was a great host, available for anything we may have needed while we still had all the privacy we needed. If you’re looking for a relaxing/private outdoor space with all the amenities of an indoor space, then this is the place to be. We were absolutely enchanted by our stay and fully intend to spend another magical weekend here again. Tip: Renting the side by side is a fun way to explore the area! A lot of hilly backroads to ride along while seeing local wild life and neighborhoods. The best part was our big dogs were able to sit in the back and enjoy the ride after playing in the creek all day.

I booked mother Earth to celebrate a birthday and anniversary celebration. We could not have been any happier with the yurt. It had about anything that you could need. It was decorated in such a thoughtful and beautiful way. You could tell that a lot of thought and Care was put into the decorations. Everything was really clean when we got there. We were also pleasantly surprised that jodee put up a happy birthday banner for my boyfriend and also wrote a little sign for us. Wishing us a happy birthday/ anniversary. We would 100% book this again.

The yurt was amazing! Erika has thought of everything!! My husband described it as a Costa Rica vibe in the mountains. We all loved the yurt(s) and property! Sad we only stayed one night but SO glad we had the one night! Comfortable beds and tons of fun hang out spaces in the yurts and games for everyone to stay entertained. We took the adventurous road and it was adventurous, memorable and fun!
