Just checked out today and we loved it! The space was fantastic, loved all the amenities (outhouse, grill, fire pits)! Saw a few deer, made a fire in the awesome fire pit, and enjoyed the fall colors🍁. Overall it was an amazing experience!

Amazing set up for camping. The views are fantastic from every direction, the fire pit is perfect for larger fires and cooking. My dog loved running around and smelling everything. Can't wait to come back!

Looking for a place to stay last minute while traveling. Was able to book the same day., I really wish I would’ve stayed longer because it was really nice spot. I pulled in at night. I parked in the middle of the field. I woke up to breathtaking views in total peace and quiet. It would be a good spot to set up a campsite because it’s so convenient nice and flat, quiet and secluded with great views.

We loved the privacy we had camping at "Stone Soup". There was ample space and woods surrounding us on all side (save the driveway in). The firepit provided much warmth in the mornings and evenings. Having two picnic tables was a game changer for us and we enjoyed having the eating and work space.
The only downside we found was the sound of the road traffic, especially at night. It wasn't often, but every once in awhile a really loud truck would plow through.
Justin was a wonderful host and welcomed us after arrival and have us tips on where to go fishing. My kids loved having "their own" trail through the woods (took about 10 minutes at a fast kid pace).
The toilet was clean and everything we needed.

Loved everything about Terry's place. The view is absolutely beautiful, loved the covered pavilion and huge fire pit. Terry showed up with a truck load of wood soon after we arrived. We kept the fire going night and day as it got pretty chilly at night. My grandson loved the rope swing. Easy access to the river. We are already planning our next trip!!

I would definitely go back. It's tucked far away back and has beautiful mountain views. The outhouse was even decorated for Halloween! As a solo female camper I felt safe and that's very important to me. New Castle is only a 10-15 drive away if you need anything.
There was no cell service with Verizon, which can't be helped but just be aware.

We loved camping on Terry’s land! Our sprinter van fit perfectly and the covered area and fire pit were awesome. The views and scenery across the fields and down by the river were so beautiful. The freedom the dogs had at this completely private site was second to none.

This is a spot we will definitely come back to! There is so much space which was great for all of our dogs. It was private and quiet. We liked being right next to the river to fish, let the dogs swim or just hangout while drinking our morning coffee. We enjoyed walking our dogs on the mowed paths throughout the area. 10/10 recommend spending sometime here!

We hosted a 7-person retreat here and it was absolutely magical. The property feels like a sanctuary—hammocks by the waterfall, butterflies everywhere, and plenty of space to do powerful, grounding work in nature. A short hike up the falls is well worth it, and you can even catch glimpses of Crabtree Falls from part of the land.
It’s also easy to slip away to quiet spots along the Tye River for peaceful reflection. The lack of cell service turned out to be a gift, allowing everyone to be fully present and unplugged.
We can’t wait to come back and see how the space continues to grow after construction—it’s already such a special place. Highly recommend for anyone seeking rest, connection, or a nature-based retreat!

Fantastic spot with mountain views, huge fire pit with plenty of wood to burn, great river access, and a covered pavillion with plenty of picnic tables and space in case of rain. There is a rope swing that the kids couldnt get enough of as well!
We will definitely be back again!

What can we say but A+, 5 Star, the Best! For us, a picnic table at a campsite is a plus. This site has at least 4, under a metal roof!!! Private, quiet, shady and beautiful. Watched a Bald Eagle grab breakfast out of the river. We've already re-booked.

One of our favorite HipCamp destinations- just finished our third stay here. Beautiful setting, nestled in the woods next to a rushing stream and a waterfall. Totally off grid - cancel all calls and turn off the phone. Bring a good book or plan to hike the abundant nearby trails, especially Crabtree Falls. The ultimate in forest bathing.
Best for self contained campers; the only amenities are a fire pit, a tent platform (sans tent) and a plank for a shelf/table.

Another perfect weekend at Meili Mtn. How can you go wrong with an idyllic natural setting, total privacy and off the grid location ? Oh yeah, it was ten degrees cooler than northern Virginia! For those addicted to connectivity you can drive 30 minutes to the brewery to get your fix.
