My Grandfather owned this property for many years. He dry farmed this land and raised nine children to be hardworking. I visited this property many times to work along side my father and grandfather. I remember horseback riding and building a shed for my grandfathers combine. I recently purchased this property from my grandparents and got to work building my tiny home that my new family lives in. National forest is only a few minute drive away along with a handful of reservoirs and river access. Come enjoy the views. These are primitive campsites with no potable water. There are antique farm implements visible on the property.

Retro Star Ranch is big and secluded. Aside from a few trailers that dot the hills in the distance you are pretty much on your own. We have 25 acres of land at the end of a private road in a secret hidden valley not far from SLC, Ogden and Eden Utah. This land is pristine and connected to over 5000 acres of undeveloped open space. The property is part of a recreational property subdivision. You might see some fellow campers on quads, occasionally you might hear gunfire, but you're more likely to see deer, fox, grouse, birds of prey, moose and possibly elk. Not far from Causey Reservoir and the South Fork of the Ogden River both of which have great water for floating and fishing. You could easily get here in a sedan when dry but not recommended for sports or low clearance vehicles. If you have 4x4 that is better, especially if you want to venture to our last campsite or pull a trailer here. We've pulled a 30' foot trailer but the road is skinny in places and the turns are tight, bumpy from cobbles and ruts and often have puddles. There is about 2 miles of that climbs over a ridge. If you're adventurous and a confident driver on dirt roads you will have no problem. If it's you're first time pulling a trailer or if you have a low clearance then this might not be the spot for you. However, if you're looking for something peaceful and secluded that is not that far from town, this is it. We can also accommodate larger groups or multiple vehicles if desired. Please contact us with any special requests or questions. The Knoll site is better for trailers and larger groups. It has a loop through driveway and can accommodate a few trailers. Please be aware that this is wilderness camping and there are wild animals throughout the woods. It is best to stay on trail or at the site and be alert for snakes, big cats, moose and deer.

The best description I can give of our property is that it's great for a convenient and quaint "Stop and Sleep". This is because we are located right off of the old main highway and have two neighbors within eyesight from the house. This site is very convenient for quick stays since it is so CLOSE TO THE HIGHWAY this makes it convenient but may not be appropriate for very light sleepers or for extended stays. The camping area is simple, with wild grass and a fire pit, bordered by the river on one side and the horse pasture on the other. You can see and hear the river easily April-July. The river is seasonal and does dry up in mid July-August. Drinkable hose water is available near the house. If you want a ranch-style camping experience with lots of interaction with your hosts and opportunity for adventure then you have chosen the right camping location! You are welcome to join in the daily choring activities or choose to be taken on a scenic trail ride or thrilling guided gallop on beautiful and well-trained rescue horses.PLEASE NOTE: The bathroom is located in our house and has a flushable toilet and shower with hot water. Bathroom hours are 8am-9pm. Parking is located a few hundred feet from the campsite, just off of the road. You must walk a few hundred feet to get to the campsite and you cannot pull your vehicle right up to it. Just south of its older brother, this land spans Utah, Wyoming, and Idaho, and is a crucial spot for supporting caribou populations. None of the animals here are bashful: bison, moose, deer, mountain lions, falcons, elk, and even black bears abound! Beautiful to snap shot from a distance. Just south of the forest, Bear Lake is a fun spot to take a dip after you hike one of Caribou’s dozens of peaks (Mead Peak and Hawks Peak have gorgeous views, as does Big Elk Mountain at the northern tip of the park). At the south end, you’ll find campgrounds, fast flowing creeks, and the Minnetonka Cave at St. Charles Canyon. This is a site to see, but it stays 40 degrees down there all year so be sure to pack a coat, even if you’re sweating above ground. When you’re done, stop in the charming small town of Montpelier, surrounded by rolling hills and full of retro grocers and kitschy eateries. Yum!

Weekend Trip to Rasmussen Ridge

Kristine was so helpful when we needed a last minute spot to camp and had no idea where to go! This was our first time using Hipcamp and I was worried I wouldn't hear back from her promptly especially since we were only 10 minutes away when I reached out. Thank God she replied right away, reassured me that she had the perfect place for us to setup and even met us at the front door. Absolutely beautiful property with views of the mountains and privacy. It was an absolute lifesaver after two months of Boondocking across the country and never knowing what you're going to get! Thank you Kristine, we will be sure to visit again on our way back home ❤️

Very quiet and cute camp site that is very close to town. It was a nice quick getaway. There was plenty of room and the sounds of the creek were relaxing. Our only caveat was that we wish we had known the porta potty was only there until mid September.

Cord provided excellent directions to the site, which made getting there simple. Once we arrived, we were blown away by how peaceful and quiet it was. The campsites are well spread out, so it truly felt like we had the whole mountain to ourselves. A perfect place to relax and recharge — we’ll definitely be back!

Weekend Trip to Steep Mountain Farm

We loved the farm animals and the gardens were amazing. The turkeys and chickens roamed around but weren't a nuisance. They were entertaining. Had a great bike ride to Hyrum reservoir. Nate was an interesting host giving us a tour of the farm. We ended up buying farm fresh eggs and raspberries. Also shared a fire and smores with a charming family from Salt Lake. Highly recommend this camp experience

Great spot to stay on a cross country drive- very close to I-84. The tentsite was closer to where we parked than I anticipated which made unloading and setting up very easy - especially since we arrived after dark, which Jessie was very accommodating about. There is some road noise/light but if you’re a solid sleeper (or tired after a long drive) it won’t bother you at all. Fun to see the horses playing in the morning!

Jessie and Sean are great hosts. Highly recommend the site. I know a lot of people seem to complain about the noise but it’s really not that bad once it gets later in the evening / during the night while sleeping. And if you’re keen on riding I’d definitely do it. Sean took me out and he’s a really sweet man. Nice to have a chat while I was on my solo road trip across the states

We loved our one night stay on Ken’s land. It was peaceful and private and we loved the site. The hill to get over to campsite 4 was steep, but doable in an SUV. The porta potty is about a 5-minute walk up and over the small hill, but it was never crowded and was clean. On Sunday morning around 10am we witnessed the bizarre landslide of rocks from whatever they were dumping down the mountain. As other reviewers have said it is pretty strange and happens in decently close proximity to site 4. We just made sure to keep our dog away from that side of the site. We would definitely come back here! We loved it.

We were on site 2 for a night and it was nice! Right next to the creek, it was great to hear it at night. I’ll add to some other reviews about the hill going in and out- we had a Mazda 6 with fairly new tires and were able to get back up the hill alright, but it was still a little scary 😬 so just know that if you don’t have 4 wheel drive and it happens to rain or your tires are bad, it may not be worth the risk!

Beautiful piece of land. This is my families second time here and we love it. We were there on Labor Day weekend and even with all four sites being booked we barely heard or saw any of the others. If you are looking for a place to just disconnect you can’t go wrong picking this place. Ken is a great host and very responsive.
