Welcome to Texas Safari Camp Come escape to a heavily wooded 31 acre pristine wildlife habitat. Only one hour east of Dallas but it feels like another world. At the end of a one lane rock road- this is a very secluded property. It is perfect for tent camping groups and individuals, has a very positive vibe and is more peaceful than most state parks. It adjoins a 950 acre wildlife park with 1200 exotic animals. Many can be seen from the road or you can pay to drive through and feed the animals. Your host is Randall Oliver. He has been organizing group campouts for years and enjoys hosting, bringing people together and inspiring a love of nature, camping and paddling. Everyone is welcome and campers are treated like family. He can teach your kids to kayak and build a camp fire. You can fish for largemouth bass, cat, crappy and bluegill in the two ponds and swim, paddle kayaks and paddle boards, hike the jungle trail and socialize around the campfires. There are no designated campsites. You can camp anywhere except between the green building and the front pond. No vehicles are allowed back on the property. Off road wagons are provided to help haul your gear. Front pond camping areas are 30-100 yards from parking area. The rear pond is more secluded but farther from the parking and outhouse. There are four fire pits around the front pond and one next to the rear pond. The tiny handcrafted Hummingbird Tree House is perched on an elevated deck overlooking the front pond. and features a queen bed, a bed in the loft for two small kids, electricity, lights, fan, hummingbird stained glass windows, screened operable windows and a screened, operable porthole window in the kids loft. The deck has lights, tables and chairs and outdoor table and chairs and a thatch covered umbrella. There is no heat or AC in the tree house. You must bring your own sleeping bags, blankets and pillows. No food, smoking or pets allowed in the tree house. There is a rustic outhouse with a modern composting toilet, sink, faucet, lights, soap, etc. and a nearby cold water outdoor shower (no privacy), sink, counter and faucet. There are some targets around the place if you like target shooting. You will need your own guns and ammunition. This activity is at your own risk. Neighboring town, Malone is about 8 miles away. It's quite small but does have a convenience store, with ice, drinks, food, and worms for fishing. There is also a small-town bar with music and food. Hubbard is a nice little town about 15 miles away. It features small cafes, antique shopping, gas and a Sonic. The town of West is much larger and about 30 miles away. West features Czech Bakeries, & old town square shopping. Don’t forget mosquito spray, bedding, and drinking water. There is plenty of dead wood for fire, but you may want something to cut it into smaller pieces. Please don’t go too big or crazy with fire. Conditions can be very dry. Keep the wood burning fireplace in the tent to small fires please. This was one of our best camping trips! My 7 year old grandson loved it. I felt safe about allowing him to be independent. The sites are beautiful. We stayed in the Tree House which was very quant and comfortable. Viewing the night sky from the deck was incredible. Rand is an amazing host! He is very friendly and informative. Such a fun experience camping with the llamas! We had a great weekend here, and the charcuterie board was excellent and the perfect lunch for us on Saturday. The owners are super helpful and friendly, and the llamas make it so fun.

Lamas everywhere, much touch, good fun. Good campsite, chose to camp outside enclosure but camping inside with the lamas is an option. I was worried they might be too pushy bit they were very friendly, only really pushed if you had food for them, then they'd surround you. Very large area, free to walk around, lovely vibes.

My family and I were in town for a few days and booked this RV site because our usual place was full. We showed up after hours but the instructions for check-in were clear and easy to follow. The park was really full but surprisingly quiet. Park staff were super friendly; we recommend and would say here again.

This is a great camping spot for families. The hosts made our stay easy and checked in each day with any updates and or to see if we needed anything. Being able to get firewood, kayaks, ice, and fresh water from the hosts was convenient. The views along the river are amazing. Cell coverage is limited, which we liked. Wildlife is present all around the property, the coolest being the owls, whose hoots would resonate and echo off the river. Speaking of the river, the water is very calm in front of the camp sites, with most allowing for pretty easy entry. Plan on bringing life jackets for kids. This is a camping spot we will definitely be returning to!

We had an absolute blast tent camping this weekend! The sites were really big! I love that they deliver fire wood right to your site. Having a bathroom near was also nice! They were very friendly and communicated with us multiple times throughout the weekend. We hope to be back very soon!

Thank you Judy and Al, me and my boyfriend loved spending 2 nights on the sanctuary lot. The trees provided the perfect amount of shade for the hot weekend. It was my first time seeing llamas and they were way bigger than I thought they would be, but they were gentle giants! One even gave me a kiss on the cheek when I wasn’t paying attention. There were cute kitties and puppies on the land as well. One small cat with orange splotches was so sweet and guarded our tent all night. We wanted to steal her so bad. There were lots of other campers there too but we were all very spread out, no noise from them at all.
