Each of these sites requires a walk of at least 50' from your vehicle to the fire ring. Site 13 is only for backpackers or people willing to hike about 500 yards to the campsite over rough terrain. There is no way to drive to it or even get close except on foot. But it is spectacular and beautiful! Only three sites can accommodate a smaller trailer or camper. Site 1, Site 2, and site 6. Please notify me in your booking if you intend to bring a camper and I can accommodate you. We practice leave-no-trace as much as possible. So please pack out anything you pack in. You are responsible for removing all trash. If any garbage is left behind in your site you will be billed for the cleanup. We have a dumpster located near the front gate. Please use it and put all your trash in there. Heads-up! We have a small farm on the property. Dogs are always welcome and we LOVE our furry friends! They say that Santa Anna's army, invading from Mexico, may have crossed through our area on their way to the Alamo. This may be because our part of the river includes some of the more shallow areas of the Medina River. We absolutely loved our quick weekend getaway here! It was incredibly easy to access with our truck camper and offered a perfect blend of isolation while still being close to town. The property felt beautifully natural, featuring nice native cacti and trees. The fire pit and provided firewood were a huge bonus on the cool day, making for a cozy evening. We noted the presence of some grazing cows and a few hunting stands, which added to the rustic, natural feel. Highly recommend this spot for an easy, peaceful retreat close to amenities.

3 nights at Boulderdash Cabin & Camping

Boulderdash is quite amazing! We usually camp in tent campsites because we have a tiny camper, and we don't like to be among huge RVs. Boulderdash is a quite small campground but the design is great and RVs do not face each other and are not lined up, so everybody has privacy. We stayed for the first two nights in the RV site 3, and for the last night we moved to tent site 1 by the river. The tent campsites are the best for who likes nature. While they don't have water or power at the campsite itself, they have a great outdoor washing area with potable water, electricity and a picnic table. There's a port-a-potty besides the bathrooms on the hilltop. Our campsite had a fire ring, a grill, a great picnic table, and you're steps from the river. Water was pretty low but it was running because there are some springs that feed into it. Everything at Boulderdash is well thought out, the bathrooms are super clean and cute, shower is FANTASTIC! Every picnic table has a flower arrangement and a jar of corn to feed the deer, and a small shop. Wi-fi made camping bearable to our teenage daughter. Also fantastic are the hosts: Carole-Anne is super friendly, and received us with a pumpkin bread that she baked to all campers who were there on thanksgiving. That really set the tone right. She was super accommodating to our requests, and is just an overall nice person. Their dogs and cats are super sweet, as are the deer that come every day to get sone corn. We had a wonderful time!

Weekend Trip to Sparrow Bend River Retreat

My fiance and I stayed in Forest 2, it was our first time camping and we loved it. The spot was secluded and felt quiet, not far from the restrooms either. Deer would occasionally be around the site at night time while we slept, we didn't mind, but recommended to have food stored away properly and have the trash thrown. We also went fishing by the river and saw some nice fish, the water was nice and clear. Overall awesome experience.

Great stay! Plenty of firewood and animal sightings ❤️ Armadillo, javelina, 8 deer, and 3 very nice cows! Lots to explore on the land and being in a fenced area to camp made it super dog friendly. Tired pup!! Highly recommend if you're looking to get

Amazing hidden gem on a beautiful river!!! Great facilities and accommodations. We stayed at Forest 2 secluded camp spot. The camp was full while we were there with about 90% occupancy but we still felt pretty secluded. River access is unbeatable. Some local stores nearby and close to Bandera for restaurants and shopping. Would definitely return.

Great experience. First time camping out doors with the family, not very far out and really accessible. We had called the owner and he quickly answered, definitely giving it a 5 star review. Only thing that would make it better, is haveing a little better directions to the camp sites, other than that, we will definitely be going back soon

1 night at Sparrow Bend River Retreat

Loved visiting this gorgeous land. The water is so beautiful I only wish there was more of it 🥲 AMAZING star gazing, bathrooms are very clean and well kept! Bring earplugs if you’re a light sleeper as puppers are gonna do what puppers do 🐶 Will definitely be coming back! Thanks so much!

We love the campsite. We came back the second time. It has a lot of space for all our equipment to spread out. The river right next to the cliff is crisp and clear. While we were there, other campers caught decent-sized fish. The shower and restroom facilities are clean and available.

Such a nice spot on the water, just steps away to crystal clear water with plenty of fish, shallow enough to where the dogs could swim and stand. The host was really accommodating to our needs and made the experience really easy going. Would definitely recommend to friends and family.

My son and I had a great camping experience at Sparrow Bend River Retreat. The campsite was great as well as access to the river. It was awesome to be able to see the fish swimming the river because the water was so clear. Will definitely going back in the future

We camped in Site 5 with the family, great little spot with an immersive forest feel only a short walk away from the parking spot. Table, chairs, and a bench were provided with the fire pit and grill! We all loved the cozy spot and would definably recommend. Only gripe is navigation was a tad challenging, additional signage may help. But will surely be looking on going back. Oh, and wild that is so close to civilization!

Weekend Trip to Alamo River RV Resort

My fiancé asked to go camping for her birthday, and we settled on this place. We showed up in the dark to our tent sight because she wanted to get her hair done that day also (don't ask), and because we weren't familiar with the area, we asked a local sheriff's deputy for directions. He told us where to go, but we accidentally ended up in sight 7 instead of 1 (our fault, it was dark). We realized our mistake the next morning and called the front desk, and they were incredibly kind. We insisted we'd pack up and move, but they didn't care, as nobody else had site 7 booked. We enjoyed a great time of calm walking trails and lovely scenery. My fiancé had never seen a ring-tailed cat, but we saw one fight over a tree with a couple squirrels! (Fun to watch for me). Long story short, this is a great, calm place for RV, camper, and tent sites. Btw, site 7 for tents is the best one. It has a table, water spicket, porta-potty (very clean), and is right next to a trail entrance.

We enjoyed our weekend at the cozy cottage. The lodging had more than the essential commodities. The location had a had a spectacular views and pristine river which invite one to bask in the moment. Further, Angela was always available and responsive. We will come back some other time
