Everfree Shire Ranch is an 11 acre estate nestled between quiet country houses and a very active horse ranch next door to the east. Rescue horses are also kept on the property in rotation. Much of the camping here is still a work in progress! So for now, a very private economical choice for campers! The central building has indoor lodging available and the side bathroom with indoor toilet / washer / dryer may be used by campers as well. A new outdoor shower is 95% complete and usable but swimwear is required because we have not finished filling in the slots between the wood fence panels.
The RV Dump station is also ready for use as well as the new outhouse! If you forgot to dump on the way out or need to before arriving, please use the free dump stations on I-35 near Natalia on either side of the highway.

Heavily wooded acreage with goats, horses and donkeys. There is no light pollution and if there are no clouds you can see the stars very clearly. We have a ton of wild birds. Owls and Cara Cara are common. There are deer, feral hog and two resident packs of coyote. We also have ring tail cats, which are nocturnal and rare.
The best seasons are October 1st thru the end of April. It gets VERY hot and dry in the summer and can just be miserable.
We have a shared bathroom and an outdoor shower and tub. If you are a single woman or a family with children, we don't take other bookings while you are visiting the farm. You will have the place to yourselves. The only exception being my family and I, if we are working or staying over at the farm.
We should have a second bunkhouse up and running by fall of 2025.
If you are tent camping, you may camp anywhere on the property but there are certain spaces that may make curious horses your roomies.

We're a five acre piece of an historic Texas ranch in Southwest San Antonio, just 20-minutes from downtown, sitting along the Medina River. Come for the day or stay the night for some primitive camping. We've got plenty of room for tents, roof-top-tent setups or car/van dry-camping.
We’re currently in the building/restoring process, but we’ll have some electrical, drinking water, fire pits, plenty of shade, compost toilets, water in the river, and plenty of good vibes.
Old Herrera Ranch has been in our family since the early 1800's and holds a lot history. A couple of our old buildings, the "jacals", are dated from around the 1830-40's. You'll also see the old "Dance Hall" which is great for hanging out or even some cover if it rains. They say that Santa Anna's army, invading from Mexico, may have crossed through our area on their way to the Alamo. This may be because our part of the river includes some of the more shallow areas of the Medina River. Easy access spots, small ghost town to check out and take photos if you would like. Only a minute from town. 50 amp hookups. Water and restroom in the ghost town. Washer and dryer in restroom. I stumbled across this awesome place just before covid shut us all down. It was hidden in the middle of overgrown brush and not visible from the street. That didn't matter, it was love at first sight! We tried to come on the weekends and work on clearing but it wasn't enough so we moved out here last year and have made it not only a home but a fun place to live and share with others.

We’re currently in the building/restoring process, but we’ll have some electrical, drinking water, fire pits, plenty of shade, compost toilets, water in the river, and plenty of good vibes.
Old Herrera Ranch has been in our family since the early 1800's and holds a lot history. A couple of our old buildings, the "jacals", are dated from around the 1830-40's. You'll also see the old "Dance Hall" which is great for hanging out or even some cover if it rains. They say that Santa Anna's army, invading from Mexico, may have crossed through our area on their way to the Alamo. This may be because our part of the river includes some of the more shallow areas of the Medina River. Easy access spots, small ghost town to check out and take photos if you would like. Only a minute from town. 50 amp hookups. Water and restroom in the ghost town. Washer and dryer in restroom. I stumbled across this awesome place just before covid shut us all down. It was hidden in the middle of overgrown brush and not visible from the street. That didn't matter, it was love at first sight! We tried to come on the weekends and work on clearing but it wasn't enough so we moved out here last year and have made it not only a home but a fun place to live and share with others.

Micheal is incredibly cool and his property is just perfect. Waking up to horses and not being bothered the entire week was priceless. Michael is incredibly responsive and accommodating and I will absolutely come back. I camped primitively but accomodations such as shower, toilet and free laundry are available 24/7. Firewood and essentials are available, just ask. Everfree Shire is in my opinion perfect. Give it a try!! You can't find better at Mike's rates

My fiancé asked to go camping for her birthday, and we settled on this place. We showed up in the dark to our tent sight because she wanted to get her hair done that day also (don't ask), and because we weren't familiar with the area, we asked a local sheriff's deputy for directions. He told us where to go, but we accidentally ended up in sight 7 instead of 1 (our fault, it was dark). We realized our mistake the next morning and called the front desk, and they were incredibly kind. We insisted we'd pack up and move, but they didn't care, as nobody else had site 7 booked. We enjoyed a great time of calm walking trails and lovely scenery. My fiancé had never seen a ring-tailed cat, but we saw one fight over a tree with a couple squirrels! (Fun to watch for me). Long story short, this is a great, calm place for RV, camper, and tent sites. Btw, site 7 for tents is the best one. It has a table, water spicket, porta-potty (very clean), and is right next to a trail entrance.

This place is almost paradise. The only thing missing is water in the river, not the property's fault though, and any separation of space between RVs. I enjoyed everything about Alamo River. The location is remote and quiet. The paths were very open and well kept. The staff is awesome. The cleanliness of the park is immaculate. The stars above were incredible. My neighbor's were great. Checking in and extending was incredibly easy...I could go on but you know you need to book already!!

It was a quiet and pleasant stay. We stayed in the 2 person bunkhouse which was very cozy. The farm had some very friendly horses, goats and donkeys that we could feed treats to.
The kitchen in the farmhouse was also well stocked with utensils, coffee, and seasonings.
The pool was very refreshing in the hot sun.
The host was also extremely helpful in calling us and providing all details and responding to our texts during the stay.

Beautiful to be surrounded by horses and donkeys. I pitched my tent under oak trees and they kept me company all night. Loved the outdoor shower with hot water!!
