They are located on Houston County Lake. Stewart Cove is perfect for people who are looking to unplug from the outside world and reconnect with their families and nature. The property is perfect for child-friendly adventures or romantic getaways. Enjoy this peaceful lake view surrounded by beautiful pine trees.
The Property:
- Secluded lake cabins on Houston County Lake. 2-acre property
- Panoramic windows of Houston County Lake from the living room
- Deck with an incredible view and surrounded by beautiful pine trees
- City water and electric
Things to do:
- We have a Covered Pavilion with a basketball hoop and pickleball court
- 60-foot waterside from the large hill into the lake (Weather permitting)
- Swimming in the lake
- Fishing in the lake
- Bird watching (We have eagles, blue herrings, pelicans, etc.)
- Several kayaks with adult and child lifejackets free to use
- Cement deck near the lake with cafe lights
- BBQ pit, bench swing, and picnic tables
- Sandbox for kids
- The fire pit is great for smores
- You can pull your boat right up to the shore
Other Things to note:
- The owner's primary residence is two lots over and private.
Things to Bring:
- Sunblock
- Bug spray
- Outdoor towels
- Coffee
Sheets, blankets, pillows, and towels are provided for each cabin. You'll need to bring your outdoor towels for swimming.
The last 5 miles of the drive are on a "Red Dirt Road" and it can be bumpy or even slippery if it's rained recently. I've never heard of any issues in any vehicles but it's a county road. You will leave with red dirt on your vehicle but that's part of the appeal, the secluded getaway :)
Once you start down the driveway you'll see the lake through the trees, making the rough 5-mile ride worth it.

Baker's Cabin is a rare property - a remote cabin on 6 acres, shared with no one but the night sky.
Baker's Cabin is in the country. Located about 25 minutes from Centerville, it makes for an easy weekend getaway from the Houston or Dallas areas. As you drive from interstate, to highway, to county road to dirt road and over a single lane wooden bridge, you feel yourself start to unwind and relax.
This cabin is located on a private dirt road (too much rain can make things muddy). You'll be given gate access for entrance. As you drive down the dirt road, you'll find our light blue cabin on stilts. Because the cabin is raised, you have a great entertainment space sheltered from the weather. You can hang out, swing and play games all downstairs. We also have a firepit for cooler evenings.

I absolutely LOVED this place! It was so peaceful and the exact unwind place I was looking for. Cabin was clean, and cozy with great views It was my dog’s first time at the lake and he had a blast going in and out of the water. My favorite part was laying on the dock at night, listening to the crickets, frogs, and looking at the stars. 100% will be going back.

We rented cabins 1 and 2 for a weekend family trip. We had an amazing time! I cannot say enough about how awesome this site is. They have so much to do; basketball, sand box, petal boats, kayaks, life jackets and a WATERSLIDE. The waterslide was a huge hit for both the kids and adults! The Pavilion is covered and a great place for the kids to play. We spent most of our time in the area near the water slide and the dock; there are 2 picnic tables, a grill and an outdoor sink here. We brought flashlights and lanterns but didn't need them! The cabins have plenty of outside lighting, the pavilion and area with the grill also have lights! Both cabins 1 and 2 have a loft area with a little door that closes at the bottom of the stairs. Cabin 2 has a lock on the door, this was helpful since we had a toddler traveling with us. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and you will too!

We spent a lovely week at this Hipcamp spot and had an absolutely fantastic time. From the moment we arrived, everything was just right—the lakeside was ready for swimming, complete with a fun water slide, and the air conditioning in our cabin was wonderfully cool.
Our host was incredibly hospitable and made sure we felt right at home. We spent our days canoeing, kayaking, and exploring the local town’s charming antique shops, a new ice cream parlor, and a cozy bookstore. We also enjoyed a delightful little diner one evening.
One highlight was taking a boat over to a local restaurant with dockside access, which was a really unique experience. We loved it so much that we decided to stay an extra day to soak up more of the lakeside relaxation.
Overall, it was an easy drive from the Dallas-Fort Worth area and perfect for a family getaway

First, if this is your first time there, travel in the daylight. You have been warned.
But once you arrive, you will see all the charm that is Baker’s Cabin.
Raised cabin with well utilized space underneath. Climb the steps to the deck (very well build and maintained by the way) and get to the back deck. Just turn around and check out the view of nature. There is a feeder which assuredly attracts deer and hogs likely.
Walk around to enter and once inside you will see this charming little spot. The spiral stairs leading to the loft are not only solidly built, but so beautiful. A bit narrow for us “big eaters” but very manageable. Kitchen is well equipped so plan a meal or two.
The host is very attentive, thank you Ally. Communication was phenomenal and they were available if needed (by phone, text or email) as they are not on property.
The area had significant rainfall in the days leading up, so we kept our exploring to the high and dry ground.
The aforementioned back deck was also well equipped. We to a short drive into town Saturday morning and brought back steak and potatoes for the grill. Yes, we decided to spoil ourselves.
Advice, use pen and paper to note directions as cell service will not be available driving from the property. Cold AC, wifi and tv’s if you need)
Host, location and amenities will certainly bring us back. Hope you visit, you will see!

Just what we needed for a weekend getaway in the woods. Love the area of east Texas and the acreage is awesome to explore on utv or walking. We explored quite a bit and walked the creek a long ways south with the pups. The falls were pretty and relaxing to sit and listen to. Susan and Mark were responsive and provided everything you could think of. I hope we come back one day! Beds were comfy too!

Weekend Trip to Cabins directly on the Lake
Where to even start! Gene was the most absolute wonderful host and made us feel so welcome from the very start. The cabin was very clean and had everything we needed to kickstart the weekend. There were so many amenities, but we heavily enjoyed the kayaks and they were so much fun. I would definitely recommend booking this place for a weekend getaway as the view was simply amazing. Gene even wowed us with his card tricks and honestly, that was literally the cherry on top. I can go on and on about how great this location was and how great Gene was, but you should definitely find out for yourself and book. You will not regret it!! It was secluded and the quietness was top tier. The cabin was phenomenal and had enough space for 4 girls with a lot of bags (lol) and the hot water was ahhhmazing. Thank you Gene for hosting us and honestly being so welcoming and kind, especially with the birthday party. It was truly a pleasure and we will be back !!

Our family had a great time here. The cabin is clean and we'll stocked with linens and such for the cooler nights. We had no issues cooking any meals or figuring out the sleep situation. The view of the lake from the window and porch is beautiful, especially the sunrise. Kayaking the lake is fun and a smooth ride. Plenty of fish hopping from the reeds near the shore to the stumps out in the middle. Even if the water sports aren't your favorite, there is plenty to do with the covered pavilion. Last but not least, Gene and his family are the best. They're kind and wonderful to be around but will give you your space to enjoy nature. Could not recommend more.

This was an amazing experience! We loved getting away from the city and enjoyed the quiet downtime.
The cabin was so well kept and clean. I liked that the main room was on the other end of the cabin so it felt more private. Sunsets and sunrises were beautiful with the large windows from all rooms.
We cooked in the cabin and all necessary dishes and utensils were available. It was cold so we didn’t get in the water but we are looking forward to returning during warmer weather to do so.

The cabin was very secluded, peaceful, and easily slept 6 people. There was plenty to do while we were there: ping pong, basketball, kayaking(our favorite), etc. We had plenty to do, even on the day it poured. The TV allows you to sign in to any streaming service so we watched some bowl games as well. The view from the bedrooms and living room was SPECTACULAR! The owner was lovely and offered us an extra night when he realized how much rain we were getting. He was very helpful. My family and I can’t wait to go back.
