He can teach your kids how to build a campfire and paddle a kayak. This property is his back yard and the people who camp here are treated like family. At the end of a one lane rock road- this is a very secluded, QUIET and safe property. It is perfect for tent campers (sorry no RV's) with abundant clean, flat tent sites. It's positive vibe attracts good people (including a lot of first time campers) and is more peaceful and relaxing than most state parks. It is next to a 950 acre wildlife park. The Texas Zoofari Park has 900 exotic animals, many can be seen from the road (or you can pay to drive through). This can make for some interesting wildlife noises while sitting around a campfire. While it adjoins the wildlife park on two sides, Texas Safari Camp is in no way affiliated with Texas Zoofari Park. This is an environmentally important property. This is part of the largest virgin, old-growth forest in Kaufman county. The only clearing has been done around the ponds. No hunting is allowed. It has never been in ag use and all of the native brush and cover has been left to benefit the wildlife. Imagine two ponds in the middle of a forest. Enjoy swimming and kayaking in the clear water front pond. Kayaks and paddleboards are available on request. Both ponds are stocked with bass, cat, crappie and bluegill. You can hike the jungle trail back to a peaceful, secluded seating and hammock area we call Heaven. There is plenty of room for camping around the front pond and four established communal fire pits. You can camp on the front berm for an elevated view of the property. The back pond has two camping areas with firepits. Deep in the jungle, it offers a higher degree of seclusion but it is farther from the parking areas and outhouses. There are no preassigned campsites- it is first come first serve. Camping is $22 per person per night. Kids 12 and under are $12.00 per kid per night. Day visits are $12 each for kids and adults, payable in cash upon arrival. Friendly, non barking and leashed dogs are allowed for free. Most people camp around the front pond but you can camp anywhere. Campfires are restricted to the existing fire rings. There is a rustic outhouse with a modern, ventilated composting toilet and sink and a hummingbird window touch of class. Water and electricity is available behind my home as well as an open air cold water shower. The hand crafted Hummingbird Treehouse has leaded glass windows, screened operable windows and a loft sleeping area with an operable porthole window. It overlooks the front pond and features a full size bed, lights and outdoor tables and chairs. Bring your own sleeping bags to enjoy this comfortable and classy alternative to tent camping. All garbage (including food scraps) must be packed out. No burning of garbage. Parents of non swimming children must provide a personal flotation device (PFD / life jacket) and personally supervise their swimming. No sun block or insect repellent can be used by swimmers. All forms of hunting, guns, bow and arrows, bb guns, slingshots and weapons of any kind are forbidden. You can enjoy wooded walking paths in the 80-acre forest and pastures, ponds and wildlife, including deer, wild hogs, hawks, owls, roadrunners, doves, cardinals, jays, woodpeckers, mockingbirds, and many other species of birds. 10.5 acres with 4 camper/rv hook ups on the poperty and lots of off grid options. Heavily treed area. Road leads down to the pasture where there's room for camping next to the pond. We keep well landscaped. Our pond is fully stockedwith catfish, bass and brim. There is also a secluded boat ramp less than a mile from us that connects directly to cedar creek lake. We are also a short 5.4 miles away from the legendary Kemp Calaboose where Bonnie Parker, from the infamous Bonnie and Clyde, was jailed after robbing a local store in Mabank. The car got stuck in the mud while trying to flee, resulting in the theft of three cars and two mules before Bonnie and their accomplice were captured and jailed until Clyde broke them out!! The last 7 acres is a pathway heavily treed on both sides you may explore or ride 4 wheeler golf carts. We have a burn pit with seating that's being turned into a fire pit for bonfires and were happy to build a bonfire when requested! We are continuing to build on the property will soon add a shower and bathroom option not available yet. We do have a 1120 sq ft pavilion that's getting decorative touches now. It has tables/benches and several games. The pavilion itself is also available to rent for events if you're interested. We get wildlife from birds to frongs turtles and deer we do not promote or allow deer hunting on our property. Very beautiful flowers trees garden. Water feature in the making. The neighbors have livestock that visit the fence line daily. They also have fresh eggs for sale upon request. We have a seasonal garden that may be available depending on the time of years. We get lots of wildlife! A group of 12-15 deer visit daily we feedthem like pets, so we choose not to hunt them. We alsohave cranes, hawks, turtles, red billed ducks and several other type of wildlife , as our land backs up to a nature preserve. . We do warn about the occasional snakes, spiders and scorpions as we are in the country. We'll do all we can to accommodate wants and needs to make it the most memorable stay, all you have to do is ask!!!

It's positive vibe attracts good people (including a lot of first time campers) and is more peaceful and relaxing than most state parks. It is next to a 950 acre wildlife park. The Texas Zoofari Park has 900 exotic animals, many can be seen from the road (or you can pay to drive through). This can make for some interesting wildlife noises while sitting around a campfire. While it adjoins the wildlife park on two sides, Texas Safari Camp is in no way affiliated with Texas Zoofari Park. This is an environmentally important property. This is part of the largest virgin, old-growth forest in Kaufman county. The only clearing has been done around the ponds. No hunting is allowed. It has never been in ag use and all of the native brush and cover has been left to benefit the wildlife. Imagine two ponds in the middle of a forest. Enjoy swimming and kayaking in the clear water front pond. Kayaks and paddleboards are available on request. Both ponds are stocked with bass, cat, crappie and bluegill. You can hike the jungle trail back to a peaceful, secluded seating and hammock area we call Heaven. There is plenty of room for camping around the front pond and four established communal fire pits. You can camp on the front berm for an elevated view of the property. The back pond has two camping areas with firepits. Deep in the jungle, it offers a higher degree of seclusion but it is farther from the parking areas and outhouses. There are no preassigned campsites- it is first come first serve. Camping is $22 per person per night. Kids 12 and under are $12.00 per kid per night. Day visits are $12 each for kids and adults, payable in cash upon arrival. Friendly, non barking and leashed dogs are allowed for free. Most people camp around the front pond but you can camp anywhere. Campfires are restricted to the existing fire rings. There is a rustic outhouse with a modern, ventilated composting toilet and sink and a hummingbird window touch of class. Water and electricity is available behind my home as well as an open air cold water shower. The hand crafted Hummingbird Treehouse has leaded glass windows, screened operable windows and a loft sleeping area with an operable porthole window. It overlooks the front pond and features a full size bed, lights and outdoor tables and chairs. Bring your own sleeping bags to enjoy this comfortable and classy alternative to tent camping. There is some split firewood and you can gather and burn sticks off the ground. Bring your own firewood is case we are running low. No chainsaws, no cutting, carving or harvesting wood from trees. All garbage (including food scraps) must be packed out. No burning of garbage. Parents of non swimming children must provide a personal flotation device (PFD / life jacket) and personally supervise their swimming. No sun block or insect repellent can be used by swimmers. All forms of hunting, guns, bow and arrows, bb guns, slingshots and weapons of any kind are forbidden. No electronic music is allowed (without ear buds), acoustic music is allowed but there is a 10pm to 8am curfew for noise. Campers must be respectful of the property and other campers. Auto alarms must be disabled. Loud, vulgar and drunken behavior, fireworks, generators or anything that disrupts the peace and tranquility of the property is forbidden. Overview

One of the largest lakes in North Texas, Lake Ray Hubbard, lies just a half-hour drive from downtown Dallas. When the temperatures soar in summer, pack your swimsuit and head to the water to cool off with a swim, picnic at the lakeside parks, or rent a canoe, kayak, or stand-up paddleboard. Or why not BYOB (bring your own boat) to cruise the 22,000-acre lake and try your luck fishing for striped bass and catfish? Lake Ray Hubbard has no public campgrounds, but a few RV parks and resorts sit within minutes of the lakeside.

Where to go

West Shore

A short hop from Dallas, Lake Ray Hubbard’s west shore has a number of public parks where you can picnic by the shore, drink in the lake views, or take a swim in the summer months. Play a game of volleyball and choose from two swimming beaches at Windsurf Bay Park, head to the golf course at Waterview Golf Club, or fire up the barbecue at Lakeside Park South.

East Shore

Drive across Interstate 30 to the east shore of the lake, where the Harbor at Rockwall affords some of the most impressive lake views. Take a peek at the landmark lighthouse, dine at one of the harborside restaurants, and stick around to enjoy the nightlife. To get on the lake, Chandler’s Landing Marina has boat rentals and a boat launch, or head north to hit the mountain trails at Squabble Creek.

North Shore

There are plenty of good reasons to visit the northern shore, including a golf course, a winery, and the lake’s only RV park, which sits between Lake Ray Hubbard and Lake Lavon to the north. The neighboring lake makes a worthwhile detour, too, with scenic hiking trails, a public campground, and several sandy beaches.

South Shore

The south shore of Lake Ray Hubbard is the most undeveloped corner of the lake, making it a great spot for boaters to escape the crowds. Alternatively, head to the Heath Golf and Yacht Club, which has a championship golf course and walking and biking trails right by the lakeshore.
