Boulderdash is a fantastic getaway. The hosts are just wonderful and so helpful. They have a little store where they stock ice and other stuff for sale. 2 nights at Sparrow Bend River Retreat

Absolutely amazing! I've been coming to the area (mainly Frio River) my entire life and this place might be my favorite place I've been! We stayed in campsite #3 and it was perfect. Plenty of room between other campsites. Very clean and had a fire pit area with a picnic table. Deer came to eat every morning and evening. We saw turkey as well. Went fishing and caught bass, catfish, gar, soft shell turtle and about a million perch! Water was low, but still had the perfect amount for swimming and cooling off. Indoor bathrooms with AC is a major bonus! The cabins on the property looked great from the outside. Truly worth every penny, we'll be coming back! Easy access into the gated property, which made us feel safe knowing our stuff was safe when we left to go to town. Can't say enough good things!

Camping spot was great! Tried to get a river spot first, but they were all booked up. Glad we ended up a Forest 1 because of the shade and close to bathrooms. Only about a 3 minute walk to the river. River was super fun. Also, short drive to Bandera which was a really cute town. Plan on returning in the future!

My family love our get away trip. The camp grounds were clean and the staff was very responsive if you needed anything. We went for Memorial Day weekend and while others were fighting for space to set up and hit the water. The camp grounds were spacious and other guests were quiet and respectful. Beautiful sights from the communal observation deck. We will be returning in the future.

Weekend Trip to Memmie’s Farm

The two camping sites near the river (Medina and Riverside) were perfect for our group! Ellie’s property was lovely, secluded, and peaceful. Lots of deer, and hummingbirds! A short walking distance from the river, which was flowing great. It was wonderful to have the clean, well-kept outhouse for our 4 day visit, along with blocks for our fire and a trash barrel. Ellie was very friendly, respectful of our space, and attentive- with very clear instructions. We will be visiting again! Thank you Memmie’s Farm!

We had such a great time at Site 4! This was actually the second time camping in that spot, about a year and a half ago my son and I stayed there, I loved it so much I reserved it again. The campgrounds are dense and laid out so well, we can setup and walk the dog around for a good distance, and the area is perfect for plenty of tents and gear. I know a lot of people leave reviews and make comments about road noise but honestly you adjust to it, and the sounds of nature are the real focus anyway. Also the port a potty is quite possibly the cleanest one I have ever seen, ha. Air fresheners and all, just watch out for wasp nests, I got a wake up call this morning from one just above the door, but hey they campout too 🤣 Can't wait to come back and try another site , thanks again James!

Our stay at Tent Site #2 at Boulderdash Cabin & RV Park was absolutely wonderful! Carol-anne and Lyn were amazing hosts—friendly, responsive, and super thoughtful. They provided helpful tips before our arrival and made sure we had everything we needed for a great experience. The site was peaceful and well-kept, surrounded by nature and just steps from the Medina River. Even though it was a short hike to the bathrooms, we were well-prepared thanks to their clear heads-up and suggestion to bring a tent potty—especially useful since we were camping with our child. We appreciated the attention to detail, from the check-in process to on-site items like firewood and ice. The no-visitor and quiet policies helped make the space feel safe and relaxing for families. We made some great memories here and would definitely come back again. Highly recommend for anyone looking to disconnect, relax, and enjoy the outdoors!

We absolutely loved our stay! We spent the weekend kid free celebrating our 13 year anniversary & couldn’t help but talk about how much the kids would have loved it! Site 4 was honestly just as expected. Bit elevated view, shades, conveniently located between the river and the amenities/bathrooms. The experience at the camp was great. We went on about a 3-4 mile hike in morning. We later discovered we could take the sub wheeling down same path but went much further. It’s also great for quads. Very scenic to see the texas fauna. Bit tragic to see how the river dried up over what i expect was last decade or so but also a steady reminder of climate and change. We actually swam in an accessible part of river and it was quite refreshing i took tons of pics of the fauna, sunset, and trails. Would come back again but next time with quads. Site also had amazing showers, clean bathrooms, firewood for purchase, and even charging ports.

We loved camping out at Boulderdash! The campsites were clean and well maintained. There are amenities like freshwater, WiFi, and electricity available if you’d like, but it doesn’t feel like glamping. If you forget anything, Carol-Anne and Lyn have it handy. The riverside sites are a short walk to wading in the Medina river. The kids and dogs had a blast. Campers who come here should abide by the camp’s simple rule; don’t be a jerk. We’re looking forward to coming back as soon as possible!
