2 nights at The Retreat @ Borah Farm

We enjoyed the peaceful and quietness of the pond site. the vast property is a great place to walk and explore. We foraged for wild Blackberry's for a tasty cobbler. The horses on the property are friendly and a very nice addition. Our miniature schnauzer and we enjoyed getting acquainted with the horses and they followed us around while we foraged and explored the property. We will be back!

26 nights at Lindale, Coyote Camping/Yurt/Tiny

Every time I come through, the coyote campground is my hip camp of choice. The town is bustling only 6 miles away, the campsites are spacious, and there's even a dog park being fenced in for camping pups! The free roaming mini goats are the best 😀

2 nights at Wayne’s Land

We tent camped at Wayne’s Land and had an absolute blast. Beautiful views of the lake, great amenities in the kayaks and swimming dock. There are definitely alligators in the waters, but nothing really bothered us the whole time we were there. Only downside, I would say, is that the fire pit doesn’t have a grill, so you have to get creative with any cooking.

Weekend Trip to Coppergate Ranch

It’s an ideal woodsy campsite with a picnic bench, clean outhouse as advertised, flat spots for tents and a pond. The frogs were not too loud at night by the pond - just the right amount of nature sounds. We took the row boat out and used the life jackets from the chest by the pond (beware of aggressive wasps in the chest! They keep wasp spray in the porta potty.) It was about a 1/3 mile walk (or bike ride) to the wedding venue to use the nice showers and kitchen. The VERY big and loud but VERY smart and friendly (don’t be scared) family dog guided us along the trail to and from the venue. Highlight for us! Lynda and Ruston were so welcoming and accommodating. We saw that is was supposed to rain by 5am and Ruston offered to move us closer to venue. (But we slept in our van so we could stay at the campsite.) And we got so lucky that we happened to be there for Easter Sunday and we were invited to the family breakfast and egg hunt. Perfect for our 4 year old and so thoughtful. Then we got to meet all the farm animals. Just a magical time!

We were luckily the only ones camping this weekend so they allowed us to camp wherever.☺️ we ended up by the catfish pond and absolutely enjoyed it! Our dogs were having so much fun swimming & we paddled out on the water. Hiking the property was pretty fun too! Their dogs did show up to say hi & even followed us around some of the property :) luckily our dogs are friendly. We loved it :)

Kelly’s land was absolutely wonderful for a weekend of tent camping. The Sterling pond campsite was so spacious and serene. The fields of flowers were beautiful to walk around in and the forest hikes were so peaceful. We definitely felt like we were alone in the wilderness and it was so perfect. I would highly recommend!

A beautiful ranch to enjoy tranquility. So green, a beautiful pond. Laundry on site too was a great thing to have access to on a long trip. Would love to come again if we come through that way again.

Weekend Trip to Wayne’s Land

It was a great spot to camp. Simple get away with lake front view. We kayaked and canoed with our dog. The campsite was clean and it was convenient to have the compost toilet. We were able to pull right up to the site with our SUV and roof top tent set up. It was fun star gazing and watching the bats hunt over the water.

2 nights at Coppergate Ranch

This camp ground is beautiful and peaceful. An abundance of dogwoods, pine, and other trees. Catfish pond was the first thing we saw when we got up in the morning. So calming watching the water and listening to the morning birds singing while we sipped our coffee. The hosts were extremely kind and helpful and always available. My family and I will be adding this wonderful site to our favorite campgrounds.

1 night at Seven Acres Campground

The Fireman’s Bunker and all the other cabins are just lovely inside! This was the perfect place for our grandchildren’s first camping experience.

2 nights at Seven Acres Campground

Joey and Cindy recently set up a gazebo! It has a mini table fire, cushioned seats, and a large speaker. It was very comforting to use for warmth, especially since we went during a really windy time. Cindy and Joey were very sweet and informative and gave us tips for our 3 day trip. The claw tub is also massive and perfect for showering and bathing. This was a very peaceful and cozy getaway!

2 nights at Seven Acres Campground

We had a super cozy and relaxing stay! The bathhouse was actually really nice and the heater in it could get it toasty in there (it got pretty cold at night when we went). The cabin was warm too of course, I just didn't expect to spend so much time in a bathroom while camping (there is a huge claw foot tub in there that was too tempting for us). There was a surprise in the middle of the campsite when we got there, a gazebo just got added which was a really cool bonus since we got to be the first to take it for a spin. It was super windy so unfortunately a campfire was out of the question (this was a problem for anyone out camping so what can you do). Luckily the gazebo that Joey & Cindy added had a pretty wind proof gas powered fire to sit around in it so that saved the day. There is also a grill so we were able to still cook no problem too of course. We definitely recommend staying!

Weekend Trip to Barefoot Gee's

My family and I would absolutely recommend this place! The host was over-the-top accommodating and offered tons of activities for the kids. The campsites were well laid out with lots of trees, there was so much space for the kids to safely explore and for the dogs to roam. We did pay for the electricity option, and the ropes course for the kids. The outhouse was very clean.

Beautiful nature and native wildlife. Tom gave us a tour of his animals, explain what they do, and let us hold a baby lamb! Definitely one of favorite camping trips ever and can't wait to come back.

So, there was some mixup with Petra's getting the reservation.... not certain what happened there, but they were gracious and gave me permission to stay the night. I car camp and my spot was level. I was safe and there were no other campers. My purpose was only to avoid the cost of motels as I drive cross country and this served the purpose.

It has extended acreage with multiple ecosystems. I just found a spring and will be doing livestock. There is yurt and tiny house for rent. There is an RV plug, electricity (extra fee), and a water hose. The site is close to downtown Lindale (5 minutes) restaurants and shopping. 15 minutes from tyler. It is country living but still close to city action. The lower parts of the property require 4-wheel drive, but the top has water and electricity, so any car is fine. As this is an outdoor area, there are bugs and critters. Our homestead is a few acres in East Texas, near Hawkins. The land has been untouched for about 30 years, maybe last used for cattle grazing. We're keeping the property as natural as possible, we live here off-grid and off-pipe. There’s a 17 acre lake that we share with neighbors. It’s full of bass, bluegill, crappie and catfish, we encourage catch and keep fishing since the lake could use a little fishing pressure. We also have a beaver pond, and resident beaver. Some of the wildlife we see regularly: fireflies, turtles, cardinals, bluejays, hummingbirds, kite birds, frogs, opossums, armadillos, beaver, river otter, road runners and rabbits. These plants live here too: Beautyberry, Dewberry, Pokeberry, Sparkleberry, Dogfennel, Dogwood, Yaupon Holly, Holly, Wax Myrtle, Sassafras , Lyreleaf Sage, Carolina Crane’s bill, Coral Honeysuckle, Western White Honeysuckle, Smooth Cat’s Ear, Daisy Fleabane, Prairie Onion, Mullein, Summer Grape, Water Lily. The entire water lily plant is edible, did you know? Swim, hang out, cool down on the small swimming dock. Canoe and kayak included! Based on shared availability, we have 1 two person canoe, and 3 kayaks for use on our lake free of charge. There are smaller size adult life jackets and oars/paddles. Bring your own life jackets for kids. About the Bees Please do not bring or use any insect killer or insect repellent other than what you apply to your own body. We have several honey bee colonies living here and our neighbor keeps bees as well. For the safety and health of our bees, the use of man made insect killers or repellents on the ground, in the air or on the foliage is absolutely not allowed. One natural remedy is diatomaceous earth. Sprinkled on the ground, it does a good job at keeping ants and crawling creatures away. Brookshire's in Hawkins less than 4 miles away if you need supplies. Verizon, ATT users have cell coverage here, no signal for T-Mobile users. LGBTQ+ friendly.
