I was surprised by how remote this location felt but it was perfect for a one night stop over while driving across Texas. I was the only camper at the time so it was very peaceful. The location was beautiful as the sun set and fun to explore the next morning.

Our family recently had the pleasure of staying at John's cabin, and it was the perfect get away for us. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with the peaceful sound of nature and a cozy, welcoming atmosphere. The cabin itself was clean, well-equipped, and well furnished, providing all the comforts of home while still maintaining that rustic charm. We hiked around the property, fished in the lake, and sat around the fire pit at night. John has beautiful land that feels far away from hustle and bustle of our day to day lives. We would highly recommend this stay for anyone looking to get away.

This place was a great place to gather with our adult children. The cabin is rustic but comfortable with some great amenities and a beautiful view of the pond and ranch land. John is an exceptional host...very accessible and helpful! We loved the jeep ride and his horses, cows and dogs! We are already planning a return trip! Thank you John for a fun weekend!

Our stay was so relaxing! We picked a perfect weekend to fish and kayak out on the lake. The cabin was perfect! John was accommodating to schedule, and even had a nice conversation with him while fishing. Hope to come back soon!

We tent camped at Johnnie's campground and had a great time! Very cool historic area with lots of trails in walking distance. Host was very welcoming and helpful, he even gave us some firewood he had. We went due to the proximity to the abandoned zoo trails in Cisco, and found that a very popular disc golf course (#3 in Texas and Top 100 in the world) was about an hour and a half away. Definitely worth the trip from Dallas and would camp here again.

Not too far off freeway but far enough to enjoy tge quiet and the stars. Phil was very nice and helped me find amenities. Very interesting place to stay; enjoyed nature walk in old zoo area and more. Would be happy to stay again if passing your way! Front gate was plenty wide to get through with my big RV but wider is always better ;) Thank you!

Super cool unique spot at the end of a historical dead end road. The history related to the old zoo is cool. If you like exploring abandoned places this should be on your bucket list. RV sites have everything there as advertised.

The campsite is very peaceful. Great location with the Old Zoo Trails located fee outside of the camper. Johnnie was a great host! Would definitely recommend!

We had a great getaway here for thanksgiving. Very quiet surrounded by historic ruins of long vacant vacation cabins and the old abandoned zoo. This introduced us to a part of ciscos past that I never knew existed. We stayed in the RV site #2 which had full hookups.

Staying at the Lake Cisco Campground was a wonderful experience. We stayed in a tent for 2 days and enjoyed hiking, climbing, and exploring the property and the nearby abandoned zoo. It’s incredible and a bit sad to see what has become of structures that are (in some cases) more than 100 years old. The host is knowledgeable about the area and very friendly! The co-host, Thor was an exceptionally good boy and treated my brat (the dog I brought) with the patience that she absolutely did not deserve. We had a wonderful experience and regret that we were unable to stay longer. We definitely plan to return.

The place was a lot of fun– from the overall vibe, getting to see the night sky and to the campgrounds themselves, everything felt well-maintained and cared for. The vibe was perfect, with a mix of relaxation and adventure in the air. Exploring was a blast! There were hiking trails everywhere, each offering something unique. The abandoned zoo, is an absolute treat. Exploring the old cabins from the 1920s scattered around – is extremely memorable! Each path had something new to uncover, and the whole place was filled with hidden history and surprises. I can’t wait to go back and explore even more!

There is a lot of history associated with the area. Elvis and Bob Wills stayed there when the rock cabins were called Lake Cisco Courts in the 1950s.

Get the 2 man bass boat with trolling motor. Want to see stars? We are an hour SW of Fort Worth so well away from the city lights. Your well behaved dogs are welcome but please add under extras the $25 additional cleaning fee. If they are don’t leave hair everywhere I will refund it.

We Rent kayaks, Peddle boats, Canoes, other self-propelled boats, as well as jet-skis and a pontoon boat if you wish to go explore around the lake to get a magnificent inclusive experience of Lake Cisco. If you like to access the rustic outdoors and would like to catch your own dinner we also rent fishing poles and sell fishing licenses as well as other lake accessories. Cisco is famously know for having the First Hilton Hotel established in 1920, The Worlds Largest Swimming Pool(out of commission) and the Santa Clause Bank robbery. Some of its featured attractions are its Museums full of western history, Antique stores, gift shops, Shopping Boutiques, Downtown festivities, nightlife downtown at RedGap Brewery where they sell freshly brewed beer and Muddy Mikes for food beverages and entertainment.
