This is our family farm, though you probably will not see us much. The campsite is located on a corner of the property on Cummins Creek and once you get there you will feel secluded in nature. Matt grew up here swimming, fishing and exploring in this creek...the creek has taught him more about life than anyone ever could. I hope that you too can understand why we always walk alway feeling like this is a very special spot! Enjoy pizza oven, grill, fire pit, picnic table, swimming, fishing, exploring and knowing your party is the only people that you be on this site.

The property borders a small creek and has abundant trees, and wildlife. Beautiful views from every vantage with a high field on one half of the property and a low bottom land near the creek where there are many options for a relaxing, private stay. Chose big sky or a more secluded spot. Incredible wildflowers on display in the spring. The property is not bordered by close neighbors or dense housing, just more land so sunsets and rises are wonderful and open. Low ambient light pollution at night means the stars are very bright (and so are the fireflies)!
Guests are required to communicate estimated time of arrival well in advance. When arriving, make sure to meet Aaron or a designate at the red gate before entering further into the property. If tent camping, please do not bring glass containers, also you must pack out all garbage and waste. Inquire ahead of time to see if firewood is available to be gathered on site, or if you will need to bring your own. Coushatte Recreation Ranch stands out as a unique destination in Bellville, Texas, thanks to its rich history and connection to the land once inhabited by the Coushatte Indians. Established in 1877 by the Nelius Family, the ranch began as a cotton and cattle farming operation, utilizing horses in the fields until 1948. In the 1950s, Trenckmann Nelius diversified the ranch by introducing chicken and egg production, while still raising cattle and growing maize to feed the chickens.
In 1973, Trenckmann and Margie Nelius transformed their vision into reality by founding Coushatte Recreation Ranch, initially offering just 24 campsites. The campground's name pays homage to the Coushatte Indians, and visitors can explore an Indian Mound on the property, where numerous arrowheads have been discovered.

At first we were worried we weren't going to have enough room, but we worked it all out and Man... This place is awesome. The swing under the tree house was so peaceful. You are completely secluded. NOBODY around. The pizza oven was a huge success with the kids. All around it was a very private place to just relax and forget about the week you had.

Great spot for family camping. The property is easy to access (we have a fwd minivan) and there are plenty of places to set up a tent. There is a nice field in the front and trees to the rear of the property. There are plenty of stores within a 15 minute drive in case you forgot any supplies. Kristie was very accommodating and answered all of my questions before the trip. Highly recommend you check this spot out! We are definitely coming back!

Amazing experience at this campsite! Camping area is beautiful , and the owners are nice as can be and attentive just in case we needed anything. The animals paid us a visit making the experience even more worth it. 10/10 would recommend and most definitely will be back. Access to bathrooms are an added comfort and I caught a HUGE bass out of the pond before setting em free. Very appreciative of a memory I won’t soon forget.

We had a great stay! The owners were very friendly and helpful. The kids loved meeting all of the cute farm critters. We set up our tent facing one of the ponds and watched the sun rise from our tent. We loved that there was an air-conditioned bathroom with running water not far from the campground and a playground for the kids. The donkey family visited us during the night, and we fell in love with the baby donkey who was jumping around having the time of its life. Looking forward to our next stay!

Our family loved the privacy, creek, pizza oven area and large stones around the firepit. The cows were so cute and the family was helpful in bringing some extra firewood for us.
We definitely look forward to coming back again!
There is a bit of a slope down to the creek but the rope to climb back up was especially helpful for our son.
