Welcome to Ruby’s Retreat! This camper is named after my grandmother, Ruby — a woman who dreamed of exotic horizons but never got the chance to see them. After spending more than 230 nights in this cozy space over the past three years, I wanted to honor her legacy. I’m opening the door for you to a world of adventure without going too far. When you stay here, you aren’t just renting a camper — you’re helping a dream finally take flight, one sunrise and sunset at a time. The Minimalism Experiment In a world of “too much,” Ruby’s Retreat is an invitation to have “just enough.” We’ve stripped away the clutter to focus on what matters. Inside, you’ll find the essentials: a cozy bed, a small coffee station, and a “Self-Introspection Basket” filled with adult coloring books, cards, and dominoes to help you unplug. The Setting: Real, Raw, & Rural Let’s be 100% honest: this is not a high-end luxury resort. We’re located in a rustic, authentic Texas RV park in the suburbs of Houston. The roads are gravel, the neighboring bathhouse is vintage, and the landscape is a simple wooded field near the banks of the Brazos River. But what we lack in “polish,” we make up for in peace. You’ll have: Private outdoor space, complete with a boho mandala rug, comfortable chairs, and string lights for evening magic. Water access — just a short walk to a private pond and the Brazos River, perfect for fishing or a quiet morning or evening stroll. Creature comforts, including a Keurig for your morning brew, a small heater/AC for Texas weather, and a space designed with a whole lot of heart. While situated in the suburbs, restaurants, convenience stores, and grocery stores are just minutes away. Is Ruby’s Retreat for You? If you need marble countertops and manicured lawns, you might want to keep looking. But if you’re seeking a soul-filling experience — a place to journal, catch a fish, and honor the spirit of a woman who loved the idea of travel — then Ruby is waiting for you. Come sit a spell. Help Ruby see through your eyes.When you stay at Ruby’s Retreat, (space #4) you have the entire RV site to yourself, but your experience extends beyond the four walls of the camper. We want you to feel at home across the whole property. Where You Can Roam: The RV Site: You have full, private access to your designated site, including the outdoor seating area with the chairs, boho mandala rug and string lights. The Pond: Just steps from your door, you’ll find our private pond. You are welcome to walk the grassy perimeter, sit by the water, or cast a line (fishing is welcomed and encouraged!) or use the fire ring for evening fires or s'mores. Canoeing & Boating: Looking to get out on the water? Head to the opposite end of the pond near the little pier. You’ll find our canoe and life vests there—feel free to take a paddle! The River Walk: A short, rustic walkway leads you directly down to the banks of the Brazos River. It's through the heart of the park and offers a small bank to fish from. Be careful of the wood bridge, watch your steps! Evening Fires: On the far side of the pond in the grassy area, there is a community fire pit. It’s the perfect place to end a Texas evening under the stars. Amenities & Access: The Bathhouse: Located just a short walk from the site, the bathhouse is open 24/7 for your convenience. Please note that while it is vintage and "rustic," it is fully functional and maintained for your safety.
