Mallard Haven Retreat is located off US 287, halfway between Palestine on the north and Crockett on the south. &nbsp; 
The retreat and associated activities are part of our overall program,which is to provide a refuge away from the frantic pace of daily life.  We are somewhat sequestered from the outside world  so as to provide immersion in the sights and sounds of nature.  The setting is designed to be a place for relaxation and restoration of the soul and body through reading, journaling, quiet reflection, or simple camp activities such as hiking.  
Campers and visitors are expected to respect the land and natural features of the property as a gift from our Creator  to be used and  appreciated.  We treat the property carefully and honorably,  in acknowledgment we are the 'stewards' of the land.

Our property is meant to be calming, fun and relaxing.

Camping with class is what we like to say.

We are constantly upgrading our areas and property to be safe and entertaining.

 Our pond is charming and the focal point of the camping adventure.

 We have a paddle boat and an electric john boat to toodle around in.

 Want to go fishing? 

The pond is stocked with bass, catfish, crappie, bluegill and perch.

There is also a small island we call “Angel Island” that you can fish from or just sit on the deck with your favorite beverage and enjoy the view.

There is a riding/walking trail that is approximately 0.7 miles in distance and basically encompasses the perimeter of the back area.

Walking is common, bikes are welcome and small 4 wheelers are also welcome.  No side by sides please.  

You won’t be over crowded here as we currently only have 7 total camping sites.  However, we do have enough property to accommodate large parties, reunions or any other type of get-togethers.

 Come see us and enjoy time away from the fast paced city!

 You might hear the sounds of the coyotes yipping in the night or perhaps one of the great horned owls calling out from a big oak tree.

 You may also see some deer, rabbits, squirrels and even armadillos.

** Special note - We have a very nice fireworks show on the property above the pond on the 4th of July weekend that all campers are invited to enjoy.

B2 Ranch is a 1600 + acre working cattle ranch in Freestone County TX that consists of pastures, rangeland, woods and wetlands. As a guest at B2 ranch you will have the opportunity to explore, hike, bike, kayak, canoe, fish, observe wildlife, or just relax. Also, the lake cabin is the only guest accommodation on the ranch, making it a true get away.The lake cabin at B2 Ranch&nbsp;is a 1 bedroom, 1 bathroom cabin overlooking a 3 acre spring fed lake. The newly furnished cabin includes a king size bed, a pullout sofa, refrigerator with small freezer, microwave, tv with dvd player (no cable or satellite), and coffee maker with coffee. Linens, towels, soap, shampoo and conditioner are also included. A fire pit with cooking grill is located just outside the cabin as well as a charcoal grill. It does not include a stove or oven.As part of your stay at B2 Ranch, you have access to 2 kayaks, a canoe and flat bottom boat along with paddles and life jackets. The lakes on the ranch are stocked with bass and open for fishing.When staying at B2 Ranch you are free to explore and roam the ranch. There are miles of roads and trails where you can see an abundance of wildlife. Guests have access to the 1600+ acre ranch for most of the year. Getaway Camp and Cabin

Tired of the city ordinances that restricted raising fouls, I decided to look for an acreage that is not too far nor too close to the city and which allowed the raising of farm animals. As of this writing, we have 2 beautiful heifers, 18 sheep, and colorful giant kois in the pond that once in a while can be seen when they swim near the surface.

We built a log cabin in the 17-acre property in preparation for downsizing when the boys go to to college. But when our neighbors had to move back to England, they sold us their house and 11-acre land.

With the cabin on the 17-acre now vacant, we decided to open it for camping (on the land) or renting out the log cabin after building the 2-acre pond.

Stay in the log cabin, or pitch a tent. Enjoy stargazing, or just enjoy the peace and quiet of the property.&nbsp; Pick wild grapes&nbsp; or wild blackberries (when in season) or spring wildflowers. Kayak or canoe in the pond.&nbsp;&nbsp;Bring your fishing gear and bait.

Cabin use is free, but these are STRICT RULES.

1. No pets please, not even emotional support animals of any kind due to allergy in the family (we use the cabin when not booked).

2. No smoking inside the cabin

3. Do not use the bathroom towels for kitchen purposes&nbsp;or to wipe off dirt

4. Please no outdoor footwear indoors, but you are welcome to wear clean indoor footwear. Violation will result in forfeiture of the entire deposit

5.&nbsp; Cars MUST be parked on the rocked section, thus walking is necessary from this point.&nbsp; This is a 2-3 minute walk. The driveway might be dry but, no vehicles will be allowed past the rocked section due to unpredictability of weather. If it rains, vehicles will get stuck in the pasture.

6. Never leave food - solid or liquid - where ants can find them or you will cause them to infest the house including your bed! They can do so faster than you can imagine.

7. Please do not bring more people than officially booked, or we will cancel the reservation. No refund. We also close the gate once you have checked in to prevent the animals from escaping. 

8. The moisture content can cause shrinkage or expansion of the ground, which can lead to leveling issues to the cabin. So please be aware that doors may or may not open or close smoothly.

&nbsp;We have always enjoyed camping, scuba diving and travel... anything outdoors. We made a promise that If ever given the chance to share that joy with others we would and make it a great experience.&nbsp;We searched and searched&nbsp; looked at a lot of properties North of the Woodlands,&nbsp; to build our home. On a Saturday morning, my husband told me about a dream of 3 very tall and Magnificent Trees, soaring way up in the sky.&nbsp; A few days later we were walking through the forest looking at a 20 acre tract of land for sale with our realtor, I'm thinking, "oh how would we ever get this cleared, this is a lot of work"&nbsp; Then, up ahead was a clearing and right in the middle were 3 of the tallest, most magnificent Cedar trees. They were perfectly planted standing side by side. We both looked at each other and said," Oh this must be it". The rest is history.
