This was my second time staying at William’s cabin. This unique HipCamp is my favorite. Peace, solitude and a warm wood stove on a freezing night! William is an extremely attentive host and an all around fascinating person. The cabin is so thoughtful and cozy. The craftsmanship and details are amazing. We loved it! The cabin is cozy and cute! Plenty of hiking onsite and friendly dogs/cats to keep you company! Helga was a great host and made sure we had everything we needed. She gave great local recommendations and even had fire wood ready for us on arrival! This was great because it had rained the day prior and we had dry wood! The hiking on her property is beautiful. Plenty of rock formations and views. Thank you for a great stay!

Weekend Trip to Beech Hollow Hideout

This was a camping trip I'll never forget. William was such a kind and hospitable man, his property was nothing short of breathtaking. This place was a great escape from 9-5 city life and I can't wait to return. Don't ignore other reviews about how steep the small trek up to the shack is! It's a short walk but very steep and uneven/rocky ground. Make sure you wear good shoes/boots! Rocket and Bo 🐕 we're the sweetest dogs and great company when they weren't busy chasing squirrels. I very much enjoyed the hike along an old logging road on Will's land, about 1.5 miles and took me less than an hour at a slow pace, saw deer tracks and the deer that left them about half-way through. It was such a beautiful and peaceful hike; I wish I looped back around to make longer! There were no mosquitoes or ticks to be seen but be prepared for lots of Chinese lady beetles (look like lady bugs but are very invasive and annoying!) And stink bugs, if you come in the fall or spring. The shack had bedding, an amazing wood stove, cooking/art supplies, books and much more. Again, Will was so gracious and hospital. He checked in on me by msg in the mornings, showed me around his woodworking studio and informed me about his property and animals. His artwork is truly something else, the man is a real artist and beautiful soul. I bought a cutting board and Will picked me some greens from his garden before I left. I would highly recommend staying here and can't wait to return myself!

Wow! My boyfriend and I came out to William’s land after needing a break from living in the city. I’ve never done Hipcamp before so I wasn’t sure what to expect, but it was absolutely serene and the perfect reset. Our only regret is not staying more than one night to fully unplug. We will be back - and will pack MUCH lighter next time for the hike up the hill! Such a haven!

Host William is amazing. Very friendly, definitely the spot for “off the beaten path” travelers. Everyone is correct about the hike- its ROUGH. Rougher than i anticipated 😂 If you're used to that & the elevation, totally fine. The place itself is amazing. Had a great time meeting William, the dogs who protected me all night, & walked me to & from the site, and Johnny the goat of course. Really really cool place, it was a great start to the roadtrip. Weekend Trip to Peaceful Haven Cabin

What a cool and artsy place to spend the night! I was just looking for a place to break up a long drive, but I’d love to go back and settle into the property and the area for longer. Helga really makes the most of the space, is a great steward of the land, and is even an advocate for local artists. I was surprised the WiFi was as good as it was, and the available tea and popcorn were so thoughtful. Directions are easy, drive there is beautiful. Highly recommend.

The cabin has huge windows, so you feel like you are floating in the forest. There were fireflies at night and it was absolutely magical! Plus, I loved cooking on the little woodstove. A tip with the directions: there is a huge sign off Highway 70 that says New Frontiers and that’s where you turn off. It’s right by the Dry Creek Bridge.

Weekend Trip to Beech Hollow Hideout

We loved our three days on William's land. We visited in late April from Wisconsin, looking for green forests and early spring--and this visit provided. Here's our recommendation. The land is deep in a verdant, green hollow. The small "hut" is really a kind of sanctuary. The relationship between the forest and the structure is seamless--at times, being inside feels like being outside. The small items, drawings, and tributes left behind by previous campers created the feeling of connection with everyone else whose names were in the guestbook. It is an ideal location for solitary or partnered forest stay. Hiking, meditation, yoga, outdoor cooking, hiking, cave exploring (!), transcendence of self and ego dissolution, growing branches and literally becoming a tree--William's land would be great for these activities and more. William is helpful, responsive, and kind. His own wood and stone work is beautiful. His friendly pups rule the roost--they visit periodically and enjoy a good campfire. Rocket, a very charming smallish hound, escorted me through the forest during the night--a true companion and very good boy. General advice for hip-campers: no electricity at the hut, no kitchen, and it's a steep hike up. You'll want to limit the number of trips up from your vehicle, so it's helpful to consider what you'll need in advance and packing accordingly. We recommend bringing small indulgences to turn the hut into your own little nest: incense, tea candles, fairy lights etc.

The place was great it was just me and my dog. Helga was great. About an hour to Nashville good state parks within 20 mins. It was great home base for checking out the Nashville area and enjoying the great outdoors.
