Trout fishing, camping in beautiful Rabun County. Lot's of outdoor activities in the area. Forest Service land, and more nearby. This is not a campground, but a private Recreation Area on 43.7 acres on Tallulah River, which we love to share. Yes, there is a house here an there along the border. People choose to camp in the easy to access area, instead of hiking out to more seclude places on the property. So if you have a problem with the house being there across from the "sweet spot" please just choose a different place to spot. I find it so funny people want to come to secluded and be able to DRIVE TO IT, with no other people around. It is mostly secluded, but people do live around here, and a few houses border this property. People have actually given us bad reviews because of this. Hike in and camp away if it bothers you that someone lives across the river. And yes, there are chickens, foxes, coyotes, bears. Yes there is a road. Yes, they cut the trees down along the road to build the new bridge. Yes I have planted trees, and it will be more private as these grow. All this being said, please read on... This is rural neighborhood in Persimmon Community, Georgia. There are neighbors. Act accordingly, the few who do not! We are a few miles from NC line, and about 20 or so from SC line, in the most Northeast corner of Georgia. We are blessed with mountains, water, and a great community. 43.7 acres access, 1,000 feet of Tallulah River frontage (actually, property line is down the middle of the river), there is a nice road to the place, and a field and Tallulah River...... You can drive into the field, have fun in the river, and camp, build a fire, do whatever you like in our space. If you don't like being close to the very nice neighbors across from the car accesable spot, the camp further up the field, or pack by foot up the mountain. We are NOT a campground. We have no fixed sites. The fire pits were made by campers, not by me (the owner.) People have actually complained to me that there are neighbors across the river. CAMP AWAY FROM THERE IF IT BOTHERS YOU. And yes, they have chickens, that will wake you at dawn... Yes, there is a road. Yes there is a field. No, there are no fixed campsites. We are not a campground. We leave you alone. We will try to answer questions, but I do not sit by the phone. This is just us sharing access to the land. We want to preserve this like this, for as long as we can. I genuinely want to share this place. But that being said, I would rather not interface with campers. I live in the middle of nowhere for a reason. I assume you want to visit the middle of nowhere to be left alone. This is what I will do. I do my best to keep this going, and open to being shared. That's my job. But I am not going to find you stuff to do, watch the calendar, or whatever. Just look up THINGS TO DO IN RABUN COUNTY. DON'T TRESPASS ON NEIGHBORS' LAND If people come on the land while you are here, THEY are trespassing. I try to keep it private, but there is the occasional interloper who wanders on. Just tell them you have it lease, it is private. I am sorry for this. People are, well.... PEOPLE.... There is 44 acres here. Over 1,000 feet of river frontage. There is great fishing here. Please respect the property lines. We love our neighbors, and they love us. We want to keep it this way. Be aware that the property if BELOW the bridge, all the way back to the old cabin. That next branch is the property line. I will try and provide a plat, or map so you will be aware of the lines. There is also plenty of public property in Rabun County. Rabun County is 65% US Forest Service land. If 44 private acres isn't enough, then check out some of the wonderful public places around here. Look in photos for plat of the property. You agree to not trespass. Also, property line is down the middle of the river. Please don't trespass across the river. And while we are at it, please do not do doughnuts in the hay field. Every young kid from Athens seems to want to tear up the hay field. Please don't! We expect it to be left mostly like it was. You are expected to either bring your own camp toilet, and bag your waste out, or you can buy a toilet bucket and some plastic bags, and cat litter. This is a brand new unopened toilet lid and a brand new 5 gallon bucket. Bring some cat litter, and some bags to line the bucket, and some Ziploc bags to put this in and seal. The cost of a bucket potty is $22 NO MORE KITTY TRENCHES. You are expected to remove your waste and put it in your trash each time you use it. This is for consideration of others. IF YOU LEAVE TRASH YOU WILL BE CHARGED $50 FOR CLEANUP. IF YOU LEAVE HUMAN WASTE, YOU WILL BE CHARGED $500 FOR CLEANUP.......... I am only saying this because as we get more experience, we learn what people are actually capable of. Most people are very good about everything. But there have been a few people who actually expected me to clean up their waste, and then they gave me a bad review, etc. I am a decent guy. We camped at Brass Camp it is above Johnsonville and the Glass House site. Nice plot to camp 3500 elevation, it’s level, had moss growing to cushion the ground. We had a 12ft 4 season tent with a 12ft rain fly we used as a porch and it fight just right with a lot of land left in front. You are next to a local road but traffic is pretty sparse. The Farm is really something , and is a working farm it has all the noises from the roaster to the donkey and ducks, it was pleasant to sit and listen. Amenities are very taken care of, bathhouse was great with hot showers and toilets , the Camp store was great with the kitchen sink area to wash up the dishes and potable water to refill your tanks. Stacey was great with our order for a pallet of wood making sure it was taken care of and onsite, I would have liked to take Greg up on visiting the farm and taking a look at the Mill they have onsite but stormy weather and snow held us back. We will return!

There are so many things to love about Candy Mountain Goat Farm. The Upper RV pad was lovely, private space complete with water and electric. Scott is a friendly, helpful host who took time to welcome us, help us set up camp and introduce us to the friendly goats, chickens and the 2 very friendly pups who also call this little farm their home. It rained on us most of the visit but we still had a fun time shopping goat soaps and lotions in the farm store, walking the trails on the property, cooking up the fresh eggs Scott gathered for us just this morning, watched a movie on the shared Plex server, caught up on blog posts with the free WiFi, and gazing at the beautiful trees all around us.

Highly recommended. The camp setup is great for both tent or RV camping. The view was amazing especially during fall with the foliage. The area is calm and peaceful. They have a portalet and it is clean and smells nice. There is also a free firwewood and wifi. The camping site is also near sugarloaf ocoee state park and smoky mountain. We would definitely come back to camp again.

Scott and Nancy are quite hospitable. They eagerly share space and offer experiences with their goats and chickens, all of which seem well tended. The farm dogs, Lily and Clay, are friendly and yet not intrusive. Fire pits and yard games were available. Our site was level and perfect for our Class B. We did daily driving excursions off property and the return setup every night was just drive up and plug in - perfect! There were some tent campers on sites below us, and all campers seemed content. The small, full restroom attached to the owner's home was sufficient, and, conditions permitting, a couple of options are offered. Please remember: accommodations are shared and everyone's experience is improved when everyone does a quick tidy-up after each use. We enjoyed our stay and would return.

We absolutely LOVED Winding Stair Campground, and will definitely be back. Each camp site is totally unique, and they're spaced out enough so that you have tons of privacy and room to spread out. Doesn't feel over crowded in the slightest, even when there are other campers on the property. The view from Brass camp was stunning, and we loved watching the sunsets over the mountains. Also appreciated having our pre-purchased pallet of wood waiting for us at our site when we arrived. The walk to the bath house was so easy, and WOW what a clean, thoughtful bath house. The showers were hot and spacious, and we appreciated the lovely shampoo + soap. The camp provisions store is awesome. We were able to take advantage daily for ice, which was so convenient! Also purchased some of the local, farm fresh eggs, which were delicious for breakfast, and brought home some of the grits made directly on the farm! There's plenty of frozen meat in the freezer, complimentary coffee to enjoy on the porch, and even blankets and water jugs to borrow. They've thought of everything for ease and comfort. We loved walks to the river, and checking out all the farm animals. Plus, the fact that it's gated made us feel extra safe. Perfectly situated for day hikes or trips to surrounding towns. So much love has gone into this property, and we felt it ten fold! Thanks for an amazing stay. We'll see you next time <3

We've been staying at War Woman on Earls Ford Rd in Clayton for years. Because they changed things, we no longer wanted to be there. With a quick Google search on our way home from a not so good camp one week, we found Chris' place. And we are so thankful!! Yes.. there is a neighbor across the creek. They didn't bother us and we didn't bother them. We have chickens, so we're used to early wake up calls. We actually enjoyed it. Yes.. it is somewhat close to the road. VERY LITTLE traffic, I mean, you're in the middle of nowhere. It's perfect. We never met Chris or we would have personally thanked him for sharing his land, which HE DOES NOT have to do. We did a little exploring, which we also loved. My son, who is a photographer took some amazing pictures of camp, the water, trails, etc. We have found a new home away from home. Also, no cell service. EXACTLY what we go camping for. If you need to make a phone call, you have to drive a mile or two up the road. But we personally forget we have phones while we're connecting with each other and God's creation.

The site was quiet with great power and working table options. Also great to have sink for dishes and clean up. This is the second visit in 3 months. I highly recommend.
