We recently stayed at this beautiful Hipcamp site with three families (kids ages 4 to 10), and it was an incredible experience for everyone! The location is stunning—nestled right along a river with large, flat rocks that are perfect for wading, exploring, or just lounging by the water. The waterfall is amazing!!! There’s a great mix of shade and sun, and the sand made a perfect spot for the kids to play. We loved the setup for cooking and hanging out—it felt like a little beach picnic right in the woods. The kids especially loved visiting and feeding the goats and chickens. It was such a unique and memorable part of the trip! The animals were friendly, and the host was kind enough to let the children interact with them up close, which made it feel like a mini farm adventure. This site had everything we needed: plenty of space for tents, nearby nature to explore, and a clean porta john to use. Everyone—kids and adults alike—left with smiles and great memories. We’ll definitely be back!

Tent camping was great on the property, we stayed at campsite 2, plenty of space and flat land. Very nice that they had firewood available on the site. Also used the swing and picnic table. It was very nice to have a working toilet and water available. Great for just hanging out with the family and relaxing, private enough, not a lot of stuff for kids to explore, but close enough that we were to Kings Mountain Park. Very clean, had no problems.

It was a great quiet place very enjoyable time with people not alot of insects either wasnt getting bitten alot or anything really just had a great time and honestly a great spot though the entrance at night is pretty difficult to see a little light on the sign or something might help lol

Such a fun impromptu camping trip! This is a little slice of country Heaven. Open field of crops, campsites are along the tree line with lit up walking trails and, my kids’ favorite of all, A ROPE SWING. They had an absolute blast. Hosts were very nice and welcoming!

This was the perfect site! Beautiful, secluded enough but not far away from civilization. There’s a small building between both camp sites so you can’t hear/see the other group. The trains were a little loud at night but if you’re tired or a heavy sleeper, you should be fine! We will absolutely be coming back!

3 nights at Waterfall camping close to CLT

Super amazing and just peaceful. Exactly what my family needed. There is a family living near by, and they own a little section of the sand bar so you have to stay to the one side. We still had a blast and you stl have access to the waterfall, but they were down there the majority of the time we were there so less “private” yet still peaceful. P.s the big rock the cliff towards the water think the lion king had 6 water occasions curled up in the crack (easily visible!) so be very vigiliant and scout the area before letting children go off.

Such a beautiful property and so well-designed! Even better than the photos convey. Each yurt, along with the cabin, offers its own gorgeous, unique view and level of separation from other sites. The tent sites probably offer the most privacy if that’s what you’re after. The vista from the picnic/BBQ area is also so beautiful and peaceful. The amount of work the owners have put into their campground is very evident, and I’m grateful they share it with the public. Less than a half hour to South Mountains state park which has begun its phased re-opening post-Helene (hooray!!). Definitely hope to return someday soon!

1 night at Neal Creek Camping Sites

This is a great location and easy to find. The rustic bathroom was clean and easy to use. I loved sitting on the swing with my morning coffee, listening to the birds and the nearby stream.

4 nights at Lucky Farms Under the Stars

Taylor and husband were ready and waiting for us to arrive where we happily filled our water tank before setting up our Scamp. the campsite was wonderfully wooded - no insects to speak of! Great firepit and picnic table. The rope swings were more entertaining to our 11 and 8 YO granddaughters than an amusement park. the open field was used for wiffle ball along with discussion of the growing corn. Neighborhood horses were a bonus but nothing compared to the rope swings! Portapot was awesomely clean.

Great campground! I am come out for the meteor shower. Got scared about clouds by the night sky stayed clear for most of the night. I stahed at site 5 which was nice because it right across from the overlook.

We loved it there! The views were amazing and the roads and area were great for riding our trike! Jud came and introduced himself to us. Very friendly host! We will definitely be back soon!

The property consists of 93 acres and 2780 feet (1⁄2 mile) of river frontage on the First Broad River. The First Broad River offers canoeing, kayaking, tubing, and fishing. Smallmouth and freshwater sunfishing is incredible on this stretch of the river and there are also opportunities for mountain river catfish. Tellurian’s scenic location offers stunning vista views of the surrounding countryside, sprawling views of the South Mountain and Cherry Mountain ranges, as well as long range views of the Blue Ridge Mountains. The sunsets are amazing and the star lit skies are uninhibited by city lights. One of the few lights that can be seen at night lights up a steeple silhouetted against the mountain ridges. It’s truly a peaceful site. Tellurian is centrally located between Charlotte NC, Asheville NC, and Spartanburg SC in the small town of Casar, NC. We have three children – Emma Grace and Baxter (twins) and Elena Jo. As a family, we enjoy canoeing, kayaking and camping. We live 9 miles from Tellurian on a family farm. We have always enjoyed quiet secluded campsites, river floats and sitting by the river. After years of looking all over the mountains for a river property we could call our own, our favorite spot on the river came up for sale. It just so happened it was nearly halfway between where we both grew up. After many sleepless nights worrying if we could succeed or not (it was much larger than properties we had been looking for), we bought it! Our favorite spot on the river was virtually inaccessible by any way other than floating. But after hundreds of hours of hard work, we think we have developed a place where others too can enjoy the things we do about the property. We dream big and Tellurian remains a work in progress, but we feel we have created a place where folks can enjoy the peacefulness of nature, the river and incredible views. Naming our campground proved to be one of the most challenging tasks throughout the process of developing it. After many ideas and brainstorming sessions as a family, we decided to go with Tellurian. We know it’s a bit different; that’s what we like about it. We think our place stands out and, after visiting Tellurian, we think you’ll agree it does too. Neal Creek Camping Sites

Neal Creek Primitive camping by the creek is located on private property. The two large campsites are approximately 300 feet apart and are located right beside the running creek. Plenty of shaded area's. We have a 6-8 person tent available to rent as well! Learn more about this land: We are only 1/2 a mile from the Interstate 85. So bring your tents, campers or your small RV and come and setup down by the babbling creek. If you don't have or own a tent, we have a large 6-8 person tent available for a small rental fee too. Build a nice fire in the fire pit. The firewood and kindling is provided. The campsites are semi-wooded areas with plenty of shade. They are very large private, peaceful and quiet sites. View the stars at night, play in the creek during the day or if you are into biking or hiking, go to the Overmountain Victory trail located about 15 minutes away and enjoy the 6.7 mile loop around Lake Whelchel right off I-85. Local attractions: Biking, Hiking, Climbing and Horse trails - Kings Mtn National Park, Kings Mtn State Park, Crowder's Mtn State Park, Overmountain Victory Trail Segment - Lake Whelchel. Two Kings Casino is just a 10 minute trip right up Interstate - 85, exit 5 Convenient stores/restaurants within minutes from site.
