Riverside Wanderer Hideaway

2 sites · RVs, Tents3 acres · Morganton, NC
Relax by the river, hidden amongst trees and fields, where sprawling space meets abundant outdoor adventure. Your riverside, self-serving, primitive stay will leave you feeling refreshed and closer to nature. The cool, shaded space snuggled between a stream and rushing river will be your own private retreat, on several acres, along beautiful Henry Fork River. Seclusion awaits, minutes from historic downtown Morganton restaurants, shops, breweries and more, even nestled along a “winery trail”. If you’re looking to stay put – tubing, body boarding, fishing, paddling, and creative fun await you. Sip your percolated morning coffee by the rushing river, spend afternoons fishing, painting and skipping rocks, into an evening roaming the area and fireside cuddling. If you’re seeking to venture out, head minutes away to hike South Mountain State Park trails and waterfalls, stroll Morganton greenway trails, take the kids (or pets) to all-inclusive Catawba Meadows Park (great disc golfing), cruise the iconic Blue Ridge Parkway, explore the (literally!) cool Linville caverns, or splash around Lake James State Park beach area. The riverside area comfortably accommodates eight. Bring your family, friends, pets, and your sense of adventure!

1 site · RV1 acre · Black Mountain, NC
Hello! This is a private campsite with full septic setup and water for RV campers. No tent camping permitted unless you are also bringing an RV with a working toilet, as there is no toilet on site. It includes a picnic table and fire pit for your personal use. The site is suitable for RVs up to 27 feet in length plus a vehicle. Four wheel drive is recommended as the gravel road to the site is somewhat steep. The steepest part of the driveway is pictured. Please consider possible weather events, vehicle weight, RV ground clearance, and the horsepower of your vehicle before booking to ensure you can reach the site. On-leash pets are welcome, and camp fires are permitted (outside of a burn ban). There is potable water, septic hookups, and trash disposal on site. The site is only 5 miles from Chimney Rock and Lake Lure, 20 miles to Asheville and 15 miles to Black Mountain. Please note this is a mountainous area and power lines are overhead instead of buried, so power outages may happen due to fallen trees, particularly during severe weather. Outages usually do not last more than a few hours but may be prolonged if severe damage occurs due to storms. No early check in or late check out, and no long-term rentals.

The property entrance opens to a gravel drive in, it is the only way in and out! There is a small spot on the left side as you drive in - that is the power line right of way that opens to gorgeous Mountain View’s in fall, winter and spring. In the summer the leaves fill in and there is still a beautiful view just not as detailed, if you will. That area has a few Crape Myrtles and shrubs before the mature pines begin again. As you drive in it opens up. The cabin sits to the right of the property. The side yard and back yard is where all the fun stuff is located table, chairs, hammock, fire place, horseshoes and more seating, with seasonal flowers, tree art, bird houses and shrubs throughout. The front is where you will find humming birds and many other birds that raise there young in the spring so a lot of bird watching and songs goes on throughout the property. When you walk up to the porch you are welcomed by the welcome bear and flowers, “he’s not real” although we do have plenty of deer, Turkey, you could see them crossing the property at anytime! And you may hear a rooster in the mornings because sound travels. As you make your way past the garden flowers to the front door entrance, you will see a nice seating area and grill. When you walk in the front door it opens up to the living room with high ceilings. You will see the sectional sofa and a table with a lovely flower arrangement, to the left an antique unit that has all the movies, games, remote controls, DVD player, TV and the door to the master bedroom. On the living room walls are framed photographs of the South Mountain State park. And there are a few motivational outdoor adventure type art, wildlife and bike decor throughout the home. As you continue to move through the living room you find a semi open floor plan that opens up to the dining, kitchen and laundry area and to the right hallway leading to a bathroom and two more bedrooms. The master bedroom and bath is just off to the left of the living room it has a queen size bed with a cabin charm decor, a double closet for storage of your things and the master bath that has a garden tub with towels, soap, shampoo and conditioner, towels, wash rags and a few extra amenities for the ladies like individual packs of make-up remover and bath bombs please limit to use of stay so everyone gets to share the love and there is no need to pack those. Heading into the laundry room you will see a bakers rack that has extra kitchen towels, individually wrapped specialty teas so please enjoy a warm cup of tea. Walking further in you will see a stand that I keep a dated and signed cleaning check list, fly swapper and simple cleaning items, vinegar based cleaning product and the washer and dryer, however, I don’t provide laundry soap so plan on that if you need it. There is a back door leading to a small porch that over looks the big yard side and back in the fall, winter, and spring months it has amazing mountains views. On that porch I keep fresh herbs, fresh mint, tomato, and small vegetable garden for your cooking convenience so help yourself during your stay. If you time it right maybe even a fresh watermelon! There is also a galvanized trash can to put your trash in when you leave, thank you in advance! The hall bathroom has a stand up shower, and bathing essentials. The towels, wash rags and extra toilet paper can be found in the bathroom closet. And down the hall you will find two more bedrooms one has a twin bed and bunk beds with view of the back yard, pines, Carolina Jasmine and some new trees that just popped up that will add some visual interest so I’m letting that grow, Yeah! The last bedroom has a double bed and an extra TV that plays VHS, find wholesome VHS tapes for the kiddos in the drawers, but parents you must be responsible for the use of this TV and when you book you are agreeing to those terms. There are a few oldies but goodies for older teens as well. The view is of the large open front yard, pine trees and bird house, Crape Myrtle trees, Holly and flowering shrubs. The rooms are comfortable in size, the kitchen has plenty of room and a spacious living room.
