At that time as certified HG instructors we thought ok lets try..came down here with our backpacks, a few hang gliders, and figured we would see how it worked out. The campsite is located in a private property in the outskirts of El Yunque Rainforest in the town of Luquillo. The campsite areas and facilities are about 8 out of 43 acres of all the private property of rainforest, flowers, palm trees, and various fruit trees.
The Sabana River, one of many that originate from El Yunque National Rainforest, the river goes through the property. All the campsites are close by the river with each having their own access and individual fire pits.

With only one campsite on the property, and the comfortably secluded surroundings, you will indulge in peace and beauty. Campers leave feeling refreshed and healthier than they arrived. The fresh air, the perfect sunshine and good quality mountain food feel great to consume.
You can enjoy the plentitude of animals here and surrounding the property. Both wild and domestic. If you're a bird watcher, this is like a natural sanctuary. Song birds sing all through the day, and the doves snore beautifully at night. Cranes, owls, hawks, humming birds, parrots, and many more I'm not familiar with visit all the time. We got farm ducks, and chickens too. My neighbor has a flock of Peacocks that are usually out to be seen (it's a hike to see them, but we can take you there if you'd like). Coqui's singing romantic songs all through the night. Crabs in the creek for the kids to catch. It's a jungle.
We have a lot of fruit trees on the property. If you see anything ready for the taking let us know and you can partake in the experience of harvesting and eating it. Bananas, avocados, soursop, guava, fig, calabaza, coffee, name, coconuts, pana pen, and more.
Clean filtered mountain water is available for purchase. As well we keep a regular supply of Caribbean snacks available. Sweet and savory available for purchase.

This is a rural and country property, surrounded by nature and creeks, with direct access to Cidra Lake. Drive carefully, but all vehicles can get access without problems. Vehicles like a Toyota Camry, an SUV, or a 4x4.
Other things to note
Use only Google Maps to drive to the property; you can get lost if you use other apps like Apple Maps. Remember this is a rural area with just a few traffic lights; we highly recommend arriving early the 1st time to get familiarized with the area.Wi-Fi: There is no Wi-Fi signal in Grandpa's house, but if you need to use it, you can access the Wi-Fi service close to the main house.You will be in the middle of 5 acres of land, in total contact with nature and in an emblematic property from the 50's. In simple words: there are no screens on the windows, and you sleep with a mosquito net. Insects are a vital part of the flora and fauna, and you can see a wide variety of them in the surroundings, from lizards to fireflies. In the same way, and despite the fact that we have an exterminator visit every 2 weeks, sometimes they can be inside the grandfather's house. A real, genuine, and magical experience.For those not familiar with the local driving conditions, it's advisable to approach the journey with a sense of adventure and patience. The roads, while providing an authentic experience of the country's topography, may require a bit of adaptability from drivers more accustomed to city driving.Compact vehicles are more than capable of reaching our hidden oasis. The key is to drive safely, taking your time to navigate any twists, bumpy roads, and turns with care. The camping site has a private entrance with a self check-in gate. Parking spot is located outside the property so you must be willing to walk downhill to access the area. We only use solar or batteries lights.

Guest can explore around the premises at his/her own risk. Pets should remain on leash. Please, do not cross to the neighbors yards uninvited. Hiking jewels can be found at 20 minutes drive: Las Tetas between Cayey-Salinas, Canon San Cristobal between Aibonito-Barranquitas, and Bosque Carite, Cayey.

Nights can be really colds so bring your jackets.
The place uses solar lights, doesn't have electricity, so be prepared to connect with nature.
Must bring your own tent, blankets and towels.

The campsite is located in a private property in the outskirts of El Yunque Rainforest in the town of Luquillo. The campsite areas and facilities are about 8 out of 43 acres of all the private property of rainforest, flowers, palm trees, and various fruit trees.
The Sabana River, one of many that originate from El Yunque National Rainforest, the river goes through the property. All the campsites are close by the river with each having their own access and individual fire pits.
The local attractions are:
-El Yunque National Rainforest 15 minute drive up the mountain.
-Las Paylas rockslides (2 minute drive & 8 minutes walking).
-The Luquillo beaches which are La Pared, Playa Azul, Barneario de Luquillo. Los Kioskos de Luquillo, ect. (10 minutes drive).

With only one campsite on the property, and the comfortably secluded surroundings, you will indulge in peace and beauty. Campers leave feeling refreshed and healthier than they arrived. The fresh air, the perfect sunshine and good quality mountain food feel great to consume.
You can enjoy the plentitude of animals here and surrounding the property. Both wild and domestic. If you're a bird watcher, this is like a natural sanctuary. Song birds sing all through the day, and the doves snore beautifully at night. Cranes, owls, hawks, humming birds, parrots, and many more I'm not familiar with visit all the time. We got farm ducks, and chickens too. My neighbor has a flock of Peacocks that are usually out to be seen (it's a hike to see them, but we can take you there if you'd like). Coqui's singing romantic songs all through the night. Crabs in the creek for the kids to catch. It's a jungle.
We have a lot of fruit trees on the property. If you see anything ready for the taking let us know and you can partake in the experience of harvesting and eating it. Bananas, avocados, soursop, guava, fig, calabaza, coffee, name, coconuts, pana pen, and more.
Clean filtered mountain water is available for purchase. As well we keep a regular supply of Caribbean snacks available. Sweet and savory available for purchase.

This is a rural and country property, surrounded by nature and creeks, with direct access to Cidra Lake. Drive carefully, but all vehicles can get access without problems. Vehicles like a Toyota Camry, an SUV, or a 4x4.
Other things to note
Use only Google Maps to drive to the property; you can get lost if you use other apps like Apple Maps. Remember this is a rural area with just a few traffic lights; we highly recommend arriving early the 1st time to get familiarized with the area.Wi-Fi: There is no Wi-Fi signal in Grandpa's house, but if you need to use it, you can access the Wi-Fi service close to the main house.You will be in the middle of 5 acres of land, in total contact with nature and in an emblematic property from the 50's. In simple words: there are no screens on the windows, and you sleep with a mosquito net. Insects are a vital part of the flora and fauna, and you can see a wide variety of them in the surroundings, from lizards to fireflies. In the same way, and despite the fact that we have an exterminator visit every 2 weeks, sometimes they can be inside the grandfather's house. A real, genuine, and magical experience.For those not familiar with the local driving conditions, it's advisable to approach the journey with a sense of adventure and patience. The roads, while providing an authentic experience of the country's topography, may require a bit of adaptability from drivers more accustomed to city driving.Compact vehicles are more than capable of reaching our hidden oasis. The key is to drive safely, taking your time to navigate any twists, bumpy roads, and turns with care. The camping site has a private entrance with a self check-in gate. Parking spot is located outside the property so you must be willing to walk downhill to access the area. We only use solar or batteries lights.

Guest can explore around the premises at his/her own risk. Pets should remain on leash. Please, do not cross to the neighbors yards uninvited. Hiking jewels can be found at 20 minutes drive: Las Tetas between Cayey-Salinas, Canon San Cristobal between Aibonito-Barranquitas, and Bosque Carite, Cayey.

Nights can be really colds so bring your jackets.
The place uses solar lights, doesn't have electricity, so be prepared to connect with nature.

Camping is a great experience. Sometimes we get the chance to even camp near other folk who share the same interests. But sometimes you just wanna be alone, feel safe, and have a small or short pause from life and enjoy ones own company. Honestly this was exactly what I wanted. Maria, Chao, and Rebel are exceptional hosts who provide a range of guest-centeted accommodations and experiences. My time there was filled with nature (energy of Rio Plata headwaters, singing birds, congenial farm animals, and the dancing lights of cucubanos), along with hosts' generous hospitality. I was given a clear orientation to my riverfront campsite with a stove, cooler, kitchenware, and covered shelter for my small tent. Shared meals, dominos, and enlightening conversations were memorable and as available nowhere else. What a gift and blessing to stay there!

I loved camping on Robert's place. Although, I had a tent, there was one already setup under cover & off the ground. It really worked out since it had been raining. Sleeping overnight in the rainforest was a fascinating experience. Please consider this site if you're near this area.

My new favorite camp! The hosts Robert and Tanya are so lovely and helpful. Conveniently located in a very quiet and scenic backyard/farm, with stunning views from the nearby hilltop.
