All ready for your summer expedition! Completely sealed up and draft free. Still a very primitive site, but the interior now keeps in the warmth from the fireplace. A set of bunk beds and a 4 seat table as well as some cots makes it work for up to 6 people. Plenty of tent area around of you have a bigger group! Sunnyday's farm and forest was a Christmas tree farm in the 1950's. I've owned it for the last 40 years and it is now a horse farm with pastures and woods. Rustic area of 25 acres of pastures and forest bordering a hundred of acres of railroad and municipal forest. Great for hiking, horseback riding, mountain biking. 1.5 miles from Deer Lakes park which has fishing, hiking, mountain biking, frisbee course and a great playground. The Allegheny river, judged to be one of the cleanest in the country, is just 6 miles away. Harrison Hills park offers great hiking along the river and an occasional river otter. The Rachel Carson Trail and Baker trail are just a few miles away. It is a secluded log cabin in the woods on top of a hill overlooking a pasture. It is a very primitive cabin with a fireplace, brick floor, large porch, fabric interior and no chinking in the logs. We provide a bunk bed and cots and a picnic table. There is a large grassy area in front of the cabin for tents. There is no vehicle access, no electricity and no water at the cabin, but LOTS of downed wood for fires. There are horses, goats, chickens, ducks and a pig that roam the pastures. The cabin is about 300 yards from the parking area up a fairly steep hill, but the location is worth the walk! If you're stopping with an RV or trailer we have ample parking near the road and have overnight accommodations for horses Great place for a stopover.

The rich history of Burnhead Grazings is enveloped in a love for God's creation. Dr. Gib and Emmy Lou McLaughlin purchased Burnhead, which is Gaelic for the head of the stream, from William H. Stevens. The once pasture for Hilltop Dairy's cows became a pasture for sheep. Gib and Emmy had been in search of land for years after getting their first border collie and falling in love with the Shepherd lifestyle. Gib trained dozens of border collies to work the sheep and did hundreds of demonstrations highlighting the herding abilities of the collie across the country. Their love for Scotland and the border collie took them Scotland on many occasions. Burnhead Grazings is a snapshot of Scotland, "in bye" or close to, the beautiful college town of Indiana, PA. Less than two miles from two hotels, three miles from downtown, and within minutes from Amish country, it is amazing that this respite still exists so close to civilization. Gib and Emmy's daughter, Moire McLaughlin Bridges and her husband Randy have endeavored to bring the sheep back to Burnhead Grazings and to continue the family tradition as well as to share in the experience. You can listen to an interview on The Christian Witness Program on this page for some history about Moire and Randy in Tennessee where they were residing before coming to Indiana. They are producing lamb, wool for spinning and felting, and hay and are opening up the farm for small events such as weddings or family reunions. Moire is also the author and illustrator of a children's book available for sale on iBooks called Sissy & The King. In November of 2014, with the help of Hilltop Baptist Church and many others, they began hosting an event, LIFE Nativity, the weekend before Thanksgiving, which benefits Life-Way Pregnancy Center. Moire is also a fine artist and gives classes on wool felting. Ask about signing up for a class or book a private felting party.

Camp is on 50 acres with a pink marked trail to Red Bank Creek on the western border and back up through a hemlock forest along south border. A small stream runs through the property and forms a rocky delta in Red Bank Creek. All camp sites are on the eastern border and close to the main road to access property. Hike, enjoy the sound of the stream tickling through property, stargaze, or rest, watch nature's critters, read or just relax in a hammock. No hunting on property but fishing permitted along "river" aka Red Bank Creek. Please keep fires in firepit and noise levels low. Set up to be most natural, minimal mowing, and sites meant to be more private. We let you know if you have others on property. Gerry is most definitely the kindest soul we have met in our lifetime. The whole town was adorable. When I say if there was a heaven in earth, this was it! If I had the opportunity to spend my days out here, I would! The horses all have a story and they'll tell you if you listen. Build a rapport, build trust and you'll have them running up to you to chat in their own little language. Skye will speak through her eyes and while she's been through a lot, she just wants love. The goats do the goat thing and the pig is adorbs. He runs the farm. We stayed in the cabin and to be honest, the spiders kept the mosquitoes down, but they intimidated me so we pitched a tent by the fire. Bugs were there, but we didn't mind them outside. We made friends with a stick bug that lives on the cabin. The whole property is super cute, but it's remote. It's camping. It's an off grid cabin. The shower water was hot and pressure was good. Gerry went above and beyond due to our situation and everything falling apart at the time of booking. Literally, this camp trip rejuvenated my soul when we were in a dark place. The trouble still is present, but we are relaxed enough to tread on. We both already miss the horses. Literally heaven in earth as long as you're not a super priss. Even then, just enjoy the nature and the little slice of paradise. The hike up the hill is steep and wasn't easy. Definitely a hike but so worth it. Gratitude. Anyone who can tip him a million dollars for us, do it.

We love to tent camp, but weather looked rainy so we opted for somewhere with a roof. We fell in love with this place! The house is adorable and clean with a huge front porch overlooking a flat yard that was great for kids. Behind the house is a fire pit area with cover, and there are plenty of walking paths for adventure and to get out and moving. Completely secluded and quiet. If you have a dog, bring a water and food bowl, otherwise the house is stocked with everything you could need. Notes is you’re traveling with kids (ours are 7 and 3)- the climb to the lofted beds is steep, but our kids figured it out and managed not to hurt themselves. There’s a twin daybed on the main floor that’s an alternative option. Shower was hot. Stepstool in the bathroom. Cute ice cream shop 10-15 min away. It was fantastic!

First time using hipcamp. Decided to take an impromptu camping trip with my son and couldn’t have had a more enjoyable experience. Gerry was a wonderful host but his well cared for animals really stole the show. The site does sit up on a hill, with somewhat rough terrain, so folks with mobility issues might be challenged. Thanks for a great experience, we’ll definitely be back!

The a frame was super cute, kept us dry, and the the restroom set up was really convenient. The land is beautiful, with a little stream, mossy and lush. No complaints other than the aframe is not sealed like a tent would be, so there were a lot of bugs in there all night. Not just mosquitoes or flies but spiders, caterpillars, slugs, ect. There is a really nice mattress in there, but its a single so it makes the set up much better suited to one person. Although he did provide a pretty nice inflatable camp pad for the second person, just was not the comfiest or most roomy but thats to be expected and of no fault to the host. There is a bit of a walk down a trail from the parking area to the camping area. The host was kind and very communicative.

Weekend Trip to Tiny Home on the Hill

We loved our stay in the Tiny House on the hill. It was perfect for us. It was quaint, wooded, and secluded but close to Mcconnells Mills and Moraine State Parks. Even if you just wanted to relax by a fire in the woods and cook meals on the Blackstone and chill. It is perfect. Lawrence was very easy to communicate with and everything went smoothly from check-in to check-out. We would definitely recommend to others and will more than likely return for another visit.

3 nights at Lily Pad Cabin & Mojo's Loft

The wife and I stayed at the Lily pad cabin for 4 nights. It was very relaxing sitting on the porch overlooking the woods and the neighboring farm land. We watched many deer and a few turkey’s. The cabin has a full kitchen, living area with nice furniture and comfortable bedding. We enjoyed the fire pit and the Lily pond with a fountain. The owners were great, we spoke with them numerous times and they really enjoy what they are doing, thank you.

Weekend Trip to Sunnyday's Forest

Gerard's property is a wonderful place to stay, and he is super communicative, flexible, and generous! I loved meeting his animals - especially his dog. We brought carrots for the horses, who are super friendly. The cabin is in really good condition and is warm and waterproof. We stayed in tents however as we wanted to sleep outside. There is lots of space for tents but it was great to also have a nice dry place for storage and dining during a rainy weekend. My friends and I spent some time in Pittsburgh and it is very easy to get to the city from Gerard's property, only about 30 minutes. I would highly recommend staying here!

We loved this site. It was secluded and quiet, but still close to some groceries and activities all around. Tiny house was charming and clean. Everything you could need was provided. We would recommend to anyone and will definitely be staying again if we're in the area. Thank you so much for the relaxing vacation we have been needing for years.

We had such a great Father’s Day weekend at the Tiny Home in the Hill! Lawrence and Carolee were wonderful hosts, very responsive and accommodating. The property is beautiful, providing a beautiful space to disconnect from daily life and reconnect with family. The tiny home is beautiful inside and out and stocked with everything you need. The bathroom was so spacious for a tiny home! We loved our time there and will definitely book again in the future!
