Camp is on 50 acres with a pink marked trail to Red Bank Creek on the western border and back up through a hemlock forest along south border. A small stream runs through the property and forms a rocky delta in Red Bank Creek. All camp sites are on the eastern border and close to the main road to access property. Hike, enjoy the sound of the stream tickling through property, stargaze, or rest, watch nature's critters, read or just relax in a hammock. No hunting on property but fishing permitted along "river" aka Red Bank Creek. Please keep fires in firepit and noise levels low. Set up to be most natural, minimal mowing, and sites meant to be more private. We let you know if you have others on property. No running water or flush toilets on sites unless in your self-contained camper. A compost loo provided. Lots of kindling can be easily gathered for a fire. Consider ordering some ahead of time if it has been raining though. There is a tarp and a wheelbarrow to collect logs and kindling and move to your site.

Just renovated for winter camping! Completely sealed up and draft free. Still a very primitive site, but the interior now keeps in the warmth from the fireplace. A set of bunk beds and a4 seat table as well as some could makes it work for up to 6 people. Plenty of tent area around of you have a bigger group! Sunnyday's farm and forest was a Christmas tree farm in the 1950's. I've owned it for the last 30 years and it is now a horse farm with pastures and woods. Rustic area of 25 acres of pastures and forest bordering a hundred of acres of railroad and municipal forest. Great for hiking, horseback riding, mountain biking. 1.5 miles from Deer Lakes park which has fishing, hiking, mountain biking, frisbee course and a great playground. The Allegheny river, judged to be one of the cleanest in the country, is just 6 miles away. Harrison Hills park offers great hiking along the river and an occasional river otter. The Rachel Carson Trail and Baker trail are just a few miles away. It is a secluded log cabin in the woods on top of a hill overlooking a pasture. It is a very primitive cabin with a fireplace, brick floor, large porch, fabric interior and no chinking in the logs. We provide a bunk bed and cots and 2 picnic tables.. There is a large grassy area in front of the cabin for tents. There is no vehicle access, no electricity and no water at the cabin, but LOTS of downed wood for fires. There are horses, goats, chickens, ducks and a pig that roam the pastures. The cabin is about 300 yards from the parking area up a fairly steep hill, but the location is worth the walk! If you're stopping with an RV or trailer we have ample parking near the road and have overnight accommodations for horses Great place for a stopover.

We see bald eagles everyday, and every once in while some otters can be seen playing in the river. Black Fox Island is visible downstream and provides a pool in the river that is a mile long. A person can easily paddle upstream; when the river is at normal summer levels. Over 100 years ago, this was an industrial area with railroads, deep mines, strip mines, and gristmills. Some remnants of those times are still visible. Paddling, biking, walking, fishing and swimming are some of the activities to do here, but doing nothing and watching the river go by seems to be the most popular.

3 nights at Neal Homestead Camp Sites

We enjoyed a peaceful, 3 nights at the boondocking site beginning of October. If getting away & immersion in nature but near conveninences is attractive you have found the spot. It's easy access from Rt 80. If you have a low rear clearance on your rig don't take the "no truck" route down Madison Avenues steep hill, continue on Rt 322. Our map apps using the street address came up as Corsica & that worked. GPS had destination beyond the entrance so keep an eye out in advance for the Hipcamp sign. The gate is not a typical swing gate. It's a "piston"(can't find proper name) gate that is moderately hard to slide open. Be prepared to have some physical capability to enter the site. It is a great feature to add security. Lock worked easily. When you enter the "gate" there are signs not far from gate that were confusing to us. Arrows appear to be opposite of the correct way to enter according to hip camp directions for boondocing camp. We ignored that sign & followed the directions from app & we were successful. The road back to site is not bad at all. Our 24' shuttle rv conversion with bumper basket didn't scrap or have any issues. Trail to the stream thats indicated in description, is off of road between boondock site & adventure camp & marked w a tire with a utility flag. Site has some very minimal road noise. Weekend Trip to Runnin Crazy Farm

It's very peaceful here and enjoy hearing the animals. The adorable goats introducedthemselvis as I was packing up in the morning. -so cute. I love Goats! (Rooster crowed just before my actual alarm clock-LOL). I value privacy and safety and slept well. I slept in my SUV. I have an airmattress and sleeping pad that keeps me comfortable. I plan to be back next time I need to travel to PGH.

3 nights at Neal Homestead Camp Sites

We just got back from a wonderful extended weekend boondocking in our 34' travel trailer. The property felt like a true escape into the woods, but still easily accessible from the main road. The driveway leading up to the site was a little tight for a travel trailer, with some vegetation hitting the trailer while moving (not anything that would cause damage). We did experience limited cell service, but it was much needed to truly escape. Being able to keep our dogs off leash was also a huge benefit of camping on the property. The hiking trail was very peaceful and well marked. The night sky was very clear and perfect for stargazing and even being able to see the milky way. We cannot wait to visit again for our next escape into nature

Weekend Trip to Elevated RV Camping at Rustic Acres

We tented here for one night, and it was a very pleasant experience. The place was notably tidy and kept well in-order, and much of the property was very pretty. The tent sites in particular were nicely situated under a grove of well-spaced pines. Maybe a hundred yards down-hill from the sites a short foot path takes one through the woods to a very pretty creek, where we availed ourselves of much some much needed tranquility. (It's worth noting that if you like more privacy, though, while one side of the sites is wooded, on other side runs the road, across which sit some RV sites. So the level of seclusion is somewhat minimal, though no less than at any typical campground, and still they are segregated in their own area on the other side of the road.) The staff were courteous and very accomodating (they even lent us a grill for cooking, as we'd not brought one [note that the fire rings do not have grills]). All in all, it was a great time for a couple days of rest and reprieve.

Gerald's beautiful place was peaceful and serene, with a very functional fire pit and picnic tables for s'mores and grilling. Would absolutely stay again and recommend to anyone willing to walk a bit to get away from the roads, it's worth it.

A large shaded site, hidden in the woods. With a fire ring, picnic table and gravel road. Park right next to the site, no walk-in.

We stayed at campsite 95 and it felt really private. The Hub was also really useful to get a little work done that came up last minute. It did feel a little more RV park-y than I was expecting, but between all of the incredible amenities and how lovely our actual campsite was I didn't mind at all. Definitely Recommend!

Weekend Trip to Starr Farm

Beautiful land. We had a great weekend. Everything was easy to navigate. We loved all fo the trails, feeding the horses was a hit with the kids. They’re beautiful. We camped in our pop up camper and the field is nice and flat for easy set up. Our dogs love running free here. Can’t wait to come back one day. Thank you!
