We have two campsites that can accommodate campers up to 30 feet and are easily accessible yet secluded. Both campsites include a fire ring, free first load of firewood, a table, and close access to the Bathroom Bungalow that contains a composting toilet, mirror, and plenty of room to change. There is no running water or electricity. A convenient dump station, located at Yellow Creek Campground, is only 8 miles on Rt. 422.
Enjoy a nature walk trail around the property. Avid and novice birdwatchers will enjoy the sounds of the wood thrush and more than 25 species on our wooded property.

This is in a very rural part of Pennsylvania and camping in the winter weather can be difficult. So please prepare yourself with additional sleeping bags for winter. The tent is heated but because of the unpredictable and sometimes dangerous weather you need to be prepared. The bathroom is also outdoors so there will not be a shower provided till after the freezing weather. And the loo is not heated. It is also recommended that you have all wheel drive or 4 wheel drive to get to the campsite in the winter. It is possible to walk from road to site. But you should consider this when booking. RTR is a very beautiful place in the winter but it can also be dangerous if you’re not prepared.

Camp is on 50 acres with a pink marked trail to Red Bank Creek on the western border and back up through a hemlock forest along south border. A small stream runs through the property and forms a rocky delta in Red Bank Creek. All camp sites are on the eastern border and close to the main road to access property. Hike, enjoy the sound of the stream tickling through property, stargaze, or rest, watch nature's critters, read or just relax in a hammock. With 4 campsites on 75 acres, guests have ample privacy and space, with the freedom to roam this posted property that has no homes on it. Perched high above the Allegheny there are several spots to take in the wonderful views. There is also a waterfall with a 3’ deep pool below it. Great for splashing with kids or dogs, guests love exploring the creek bottom and making new discoveries. The more curious guests sometimes find the ruins of the original homestead, chimney and spring house that sit upstream. The property is teeming with wildlife. Campsite - we loved the campsite. First, we loved the privacy of having 360 view of trees. It definitely beats crowded campsites nearby. Second, they have a swing which was fun to swing on. The Fire pit was also great and we loved how many picnic tables there were. Campsite also had about 1 bar lte Verizon but I had no issues loading anything on my phone. We were able to watch movies which was what I was hoping for! I 10/10 recommend camping here

I had the pleasure of an extended stay at Jeff's camp so I am taking the opportunity to write another review!
Jeff is super kind, flexible and an awesome Hipcamp host. If you get to talking to him, he will share some incredible history and prior photos of the campsite area. He's put a lot of time and dedication into making this an amazing and relaxing retreat for folks. I was fascinated to learn some historical details!
The space is tranquil, private and has all of the basics anyone would need at camp. Not to mention there's plenty of room for a large group or for kids and/or pets to run and play (with staying cautious around the train tracks).
For anyone passing through on the bike trail it is not far at all and would make a great overnight stop. There are very nearby provisions in town (Smithton) at a little market.
For travelers there is an RV dump and hot showers (towels/washcloth provided) right up the road at Flying J truck stop. Walmart and groceries are about 10 minutes away in nearby Belle Vernon.
Some nearby attractions include Smithton Beach for swimming, Bloom brewery in West Newton (with some great pizza shops, Fox Pizza being my favorite), Vinoski winery, Round Hill animal park in nearby Elizabeth (good for kids), and if you're up for the trip, Kennywood amusement park or the city of Pittsburgh.

Josh's spot is spectacular for solitude. It is on the edge of the forest at the end of loop of spacious "camps". The road in is definitely rocky, but we managed with our 26' class C just fine going slow and steady. The spot had all the amenities listed and they worked as they should. Depending on what time of year you go, you should be prepared for it to be wet. There are creeks surrounding the property and the parking and campfire areas can hold some water. Overall a great experience and hope to be back again soon!

Jeffrey's spot is incredible. Secluded, spacious, and peaceful, right on the river. The covered patio area is also really nice with picnic tables. I'm staying here while spending some time with nearby family, in my hand-built "tiny cabin on wheels."
Being originally from this area, I can tell you this is absolutely a rare hidden gem you'd be hard-pressed to find elsewhere.
As a host, Jeffrey is extremely responsive, very chill and respectful, and has been very helpful.
My only heads up to other Hipcampers is that the train is right there, and travel into the site includes a very short stint across then next to the tracks. The train is loud - I'm used to it, I've been hearing that train most of my life - but if you're not used to trains it maybe a little loud at first.
But everything about the site is quite perfect, in my opinion. Even the train. :)

We had a great time on Jim’s property. We set out to do a winter campout using our hot stove tent but the weather had other plans! We still used the stove at night, but the weather during the day was unseasonably warm and gorgeous. The wooden deck was a great spot to set up our camp kitchen and we enjoyed some smash burgers under the stars.
The site felt very private and was a great place to chill after spending the day hiking in Ohiopyle (only about 25 minutes away). Would highly recommend this site. Thanks, Jim!

With pets
This was a perfect getaway with plenty space to setup a tent or hammock. It's also only 15 minutes away from a store if I forgot anything. Kate supplied plenty of split wood, picnic table, chair and bench. The view was amazing and I will definitely be back again!
