We love living here, and although it is just the two of us working it, we are slowly getting it to what we want it to be. The house we live in is over 100 years old and used to be a stage coach stop back in the late 1800's to early 1900's, You can still see some of the old stage coach roads on the property, and we are trying to preserve those the best we can. Also in the early 1900's this ranch used to be the place to go on the fourth of July. People from all over would bring their prize horses to compete in a horse race for the name of the fastest horses around While others would bring picnic baskets to set back on the knoll in one of our fields to watch. This campsite is a pull thru road that has a sun and wind block overlooking local farm fields. Camp is two miles from freeway exit yet miles from any home other than the working homestead that was started in 1890 with huge barn built in 1906 next door. This is a great place to rest for the night or a week. - simple, safe, and private out of the way. From I-84 you will take exit 198 for Lorenzen/McClintock Rd. Turn onto Lorenzen. Drive one mile until you get to an intersection next to a grain bin. Turn left (west) and drive for almost one mile. As you near the two openings for the site, you will see the sun shelter directly on your left. You want to turn at the 2nd opening, by the sign that says IN. You can pull up right next to the shelter and set up your space however you like. That way, when you leave you will exit by the sign that says OUT and be headed back towards the interstate like you came. This is a dry camp with no water access or restrooms. This site is 12 miles west from the world-famous Pendleton Round-Up. 8 miles east of Echo Ridge Winery, Sno Road Winery, Echo historical museum, and Echo Golf Course. Simple dining can be found in Echo at H and P cafe and in nearby Stanfield at Broken Barrel Restaurant/Bar with great burgers.

1 night at Karibu Cabin

Nathan’s hunting cabin is absolutely perfect if you’re looking for a super secluded, extremely private, unplugged getaway. Nestled in the trees, on the most beautiful land, it’s just you and nature and all the stars you could ever hope for. The views are spectacular and the vibes are tranquil and serene. Nathan was easy to communicate with when our gps took us on a wrong turn and extremely helpful with getting us back on the right track. The cabin has propane lanterns for lighting but I suggest bringing some safe-burning candles and enjoying a romantic night in nature. We will definitely be back!

This was an amazing property. Big area, lots of trees. Space for an RV, but not at all the locations, mainly just one but an RV can honestly park anywhere it wants, just might not have a picnic table readily available but the hosts will get you one. There's a cool outhouse and hand wash station. The best part is its only 30 minutes from John Day Fossil Painted Hills. There's a cool bar and pizza food truck about 3 miles away and the town of Spray has the basic necessities. The hosts let you use their water hose that's at the edge of their house property on the fence next to the road so you can top off your RV when you get there and refill canisters if you run out. Overall great site, low frills, primitive location.

Enjoy the company of Lora, the daytime guard dog, and sheep if you camp in the pasture!

Basic site but it was well kept and serene surroundings. Nothing to do so more a place to land for the evening . I suggest getting there before dark bc it might be difficult to find plus you'd miss the sunset which is wonderful. You can hear hwy 84 but it's background. The wind through the corn was what we heard most through the night

View of the forest was very pretty. The sound of elk in the evening and morning was very peaceful. Lower site was closer to the cabins than what I was hoping for but still felt somewhat private. Never used the pit toilet but looked at it and it was one of the nicest ive ever seen. Cell phone coverage was disappointing but only because I was hoping there was none (wife enjoyed the service), Tmobile 5G 3-4 bars.

We stayed at peepler campsite in our 24’ trailer and it worked out great for us. It was quiet. The road noise in the far distance sounded a bit like the ocean so it actually added to the atmosphere. We sat outside in the evenings in a sea of hay, and enjoyed the stars! Thanks for sharing your place Russell!

Beautiful part of the state with wide open grass lands and interesting geological sites. The camp was quiet and comfortable. We had trees for shade and were an easy walk from the nicely maintained outhouse. A pump handwashing station was a nice touch. Plenty of camp site options with level ground for camper vans (or tents/RV's). Be prepared for lots of prickly bur buttercup, black medic, chickweed, and thistle.

Private and quiet this is a wonderful place to enjoy the pine forest and the night sky. Off leash pups had a great time checking things out. The directions were accurate. The turn into the property is marked with a wood frame as stated. The road into the property is posted with no trespassing signs until you reach the gate. A nice variety of leveling supports are available if you need them and the pit toilet is “one to write home about”: clean, comfortable, and inside a well constructed building. Solar lights are strategically placed to help you find your way at night. Thanks for a lovely stay!
