Twelve sides, windows all around, surrounded by nature, yet close to town. ***************** Picture a cabin made of cedar and glass. It has wi-fi, heated or cooled to your comfort, a super-comfortable queen-sized bed with memory foam, a chair for reading, a fold-out desk, and a table and a coffee pot. All the bare essentials, in one place. (Not in all the the photos — we've added lush, room-darkening curtains all around for privacy and to aid those who prefer sleeping later.) (We have another bath-and-a-half elsewhere in the house.) We have a clever curtaining and folding wall system that can give you extra privacy if you want it. You'll be left as alone as you choose to be during your visit. With a little bit of planning, we're happy to share our full kitchen with you during daylight hours. Same with the laundry room. We're sharing our home with you, so we ask you to be respectful of that. We love to brag about Eugene and Oregon, and we're happy to share what we have and what we know. We cannot guarantee that your visit with us will be enchanted and uplifting, but that's what we hope it will be. We'll do what we can to make it so. Our listings include a 9.5% room tax assessed by the city of Eugene. Those added funds are used to promote tourism and other good things around Lane County. Guest access Late arrivals are easy to facilitate. The house is easy to find, even in the dark. The street is well lit and we have path lights to guide you to the roundhouse. Since it's a completely separate building, there's no need to worry about waking anyone. "We'll leave the light on for you," as they say. What will you need? Fridge, microwave, coffee pot, toaster oven -- all yours. Laundry, full kitchen, yard, neighborhood -- shared. (Just ask.) We have gorgeous red velvet theatre curtains and a clever folding glass wall to divide spaces, but the intent is to remain permeable for hospitality's sake. Other things to note MISCELLANEOUS NOTES: #1. After over eight years on airbnb, this space is often "taken" for most times. If you'd like to try a similarly inventive space, on the same property, employing much of the same geometry (but larger and self-contained), check out our aloft apartment. #2. Before you confirm your reservation, please double-check certain details. Have you inputted the correct dates and are you reserving for the correct number of (human) guests? This is important because those details may alter the price you're being quoted. (We give solo travelers the lowest possible rate. All others pay a bit more.) #3. Our check-in time is usually (anytime after) 3 pm. Occasionally, we can accommodate early arrivals, or luggage drop-off before the space is cleaned. Situated next to our home on a 55 acre farm, our yurt provides a peaceful, relaxing space for up to 5 people. THE SPACE The 20' Pheasant Creek Yurt is completely yours during your stay. Bathroom area in the main house may be shared. For the yurt, there is a queen futon for sitting or sleeping, a double futon bunk/couch with a twin above, dining table with chairs, sink and counter space with toaster/convection oven, mini-fridge, dishes and cutlery, coffee pot, rocking chair, wood stove, and other amenities. Your stay will also include space for 2 cars, access to the charcoal grill, deck seating, and access to pasture, creek, and forest to wander. We are located 15 miles from King Estate and other local wineries, 15 miles from the Covered Bridge Scenic Bikeway, 45 miles from Eugene, and 2 hours from the coast, the mountains, and Portland. While the location is quiet and secluded, we are still an easy 5 minutes to I-5. Yurt door is usually left unlocked, and we have not had any security issues. Upon request, we can provide guests with a key during their stay. Unfortunately these accommodations are not ADA-accessible at this time. OTHER THINGS TO NOTE People from all backgrounds are welcome, but hate has no home here. Please respect our neighbors - we tend to wave to each other while in the neighborhood. Other residents at this property include: 4 dogs (Duffy and Hamish, Leia and Suleyman), a flock of Romney sheep, 12 hens, 1 donkey (Gracie), 2 potbelly pigs (Hamlet and Pig), 3 cats (Apollo, Minerva, Zelda, and Opal), and multiple geese. Farm access is available upon instruction (proper gate security is a must!) Unfortunately pets are not allowed at this time because of the animals. If you are a fiber artist--spinner, knitter, weaver, you may be interested in our fiber business Loose Ends Fiberworks, which is located onsite. We have lots of raw fleece, carded wool bats, and more. Seasonal access to fresh garden produce and fresh farm eggs may be available.

Learn more about this land: One mile from I-5, you may pitch your tent or park your van in a meadow near some fir trees bordering Elk Creek. Feel the restful flow of water bringing tranquility.  Follow hiking trails along the creek, through groves of trees, or play in the singing creek. There is another hiking trail to another portion of the creek to the right of the road that passes by the barn. A sign on an oak tree indicates the edge of the large mowed meadow that will take you to another sign for the trail to the creek. When entering the property at the county road, you’ll see a big Century Farm sign on the left at the driveway entrance. Continue past a brown machine shed. You will see two apple trees on your left. Just beyond the apple trees is a sign, on a big fir tree. This sign points to the direction of the campsite. Shaped like an arrow it points to the mowed path down to the creek and campsite which you may drive. Uphill from the campsite is a trail going through a small copse of trees that leads up to the red barn. On the left, at the entrance to the barn, is a bathroom complete with sink and shower. Towels are not provided. Beneath the apple trees is a faucet with potable drink safety hose and a bucket for your use.

Lovely little secluded spot with creek access and a very nice bathroom. It was easy to get to, easy to park, within cell service, and our reactive dog was able to relax without a lot of other campers around. We also took the opportunity to learn about the land and the Applegate ancestors while we were there - it's an important part of Oregon and Kalapuya history!

Weekend Trip to River Front Retreat

Can't wait to come back! So much room for activities. The river is actually warm and great for swimming during low tide for people and dogs alike. And a huge bonus...NO MOSQUITOES! Not very often you get to camp near water and have no mosquitoes. That was wonderful. It does get a bit breezy but it kept us comfortable during the day. Definitely recommend warm sweats when hanging out in the evening though. One thing to note, though, is the sound of traffic. It is right off the highway so cars are loud but the amount of traffic significantly dies down at night so we didn't find it to be a problem. Like I said, we plan on coming back

3 nights at Applegate Century Farm

Susan's spot is a great spot to stay! Especially for the price!! I camped here with my adventure cat Cleo. The entire campground has a shade which is wonderful during the heat of the day. There was level ground for me to park my SUV (I car camping), and she also provides a really cute green picnic bench! Having a full shower was such a luxury, and basically having the creek to myself was so nice and waking up to the sound of the creek was so relaxing and peaceful. Surprisingly enough I didn't have any problems with bugs even though I was right by the creek and it's summer! If you look up the history of the farm it's really cool to know that you're staying on a place that has been in her family winde the 1800s! Susan was prompt in her responses and I appreciates her hospitality! I would definitely recommend staying here and will probably come back myself!

2 nights at River Front Retreat

We had our 30 ft travel trailer and stayed at site #4 for 5 nights. We loved the location and privacy of Site 4, so did our dog! A large group stayed at sites 2 & 3 for 2 nights during our stay - but the sights were so big we felt secluded still. Getting in the river and enjoying the natural made pools was wonderful. They are surprisingly warm. When the tide rises it effects the river somehow even though we are inland quite a ways but the water becomes much deeper and you can't see the rocks anymore and of course the water cools off a lot. The location is great a home base, we went on hikes, SUP'd Loon lake, went to the dunes and Ocean. Don't forget to grab the fresh caught fish in Winchester bay to grill back at camp! There is a little highway noise but it really didn't bother us. Highly recommend Joshua's spot would stay here again!

We had a lot of fun camping on the Applegate farm with Susan. The campsite was nice, it was nestled among some trees above the creek. Our little guy enjoyed the water of farm equipment and wildlife. I think our favorite part might have been sitting under the billion stars that were out for us to see!! Thank you for having us, sorry our trip was cut short. We will definitely come back!!

It was so fun to see the river totally changed from a big wide full river down to low rock hounding levels! The kids had so much fun swimming. The weather was great, the water was warm! This was our second time staying here this summer and we had a lot of fun! The sites are very spacious and flat. We had 11 people in our group and there was more than enough space. The kids loved playing on the swing and going down to the river. Some reviews mention that the highway noise is bothersome but it didn't bother us at all. Overall this is a great place to stay, the kids are already asking to go back!

We had spot 4 and it was nice and spacious. Lots of room for our off leash dogs to play without being in other campers areas. The road can be a little loud but we were in an RV so it wasn’t bad. Porta potty was clean and location was easy. We would stay again for sure.

Fabulous camp spot and awesome host! We meet our adult children every year for a camping trip and Applegate Century Farm was perfect, we had the creek to play in, there was plenty of shade all day, it was clean, beautiful, and private and the bathroom/hot shower was a wonderful addition. We will definitely be back.
