Nice location with good on-site amenities. Hosts are very friendly and helpful. The rv sites are a little close together, but thankfully we were the only people there. Would definitely recommend, especially for the price.

We enjoyed our stay on Jamie's land. The property is beautiful. Totally surrounded by mature forest and a large lawn with grazing deer. The RV pads were very well constructed and required no leveling. Jamie came to meet us right away to explain the hookups, give directions to forest and creek, wifi password, and even brought treats for our pup. We weren't able to take advantage of the sitting area because of the rain, but it was a nice space. We would recommend this property to other travelers in the area.

What an amazing place to stay! James and Linda go above and beyond to make you feel safe and attend to your needs, while giving you your privacy and space. Their land is absolutely stunning, the creek has it's own waterfall (and feels more like a river), and the camp spots are easy to back a trailer into and are nice and level. I'll definitely be back and highly recommend it!

LOVED our stay at Jame's place. He was wonderful about communicating and the rv space was PERFECT. Trees, quite, level. Also, at the entrance is a wonderful waterfall. So peaceful! Would highly recommend and we will be back. THANKS for having us.

This spot is perfect! Exactly as advertised. A ton of space, very clean & well kept property & camping space. We are avid backpackers so this felt like glamping with the shelter, platform, & lighting. A ton of wildlife (large flocks of wild turkeys + herds of deer, hawks, songbirds) & beautiful scenery. We took all 4 of our dogs for a quick overnight for my wife’s birthday & it was perfect for a chill, fun evening. Great short walking paths. Richard is very nice & welcoming! Would stay again :~)

This was our second stay recently- passed back through on a long camping trip and we were all excited to be back. It was cooler weather but we still had a great time around the property. Such a peaceful place with only wind and bugs to be heard at times. Thanks again James and Linda :)

A truly spectacular location: quiet, private, stunning scenery, wildlife, easy access to hiking and biking and so much more! This is the ideal hipcamp. Immaculately clean, exceptionally well equipped, and everything is done with quality in mind. I can't say enough good about every aspect of this treasure. It is truly a very special spot. Add to that a great host and the natural beauty of the McKenzie Bridge region, the McKenzie River, and the Willamette National Forest and you have a world class Hipcamp. Best I have stayed at, I highly recommend!

We had a great time at the RV site for 5 nights. We camped in tents outside the RV and it was wonderful having a ton of shade nestled up next to the forest with the summer heat!
There is so much to do on the property and we didn’t need to leave to keep our nearly 4-year-old busy and entertained. We went to the creek every day (on tubes and wandering in the creek), biked around, stumbled upon a stream in the nearby forest, played in the field and around the fruit trees, hiked to top of the property and so much more!
James and Linda are very accommodating and kind hosts. We missed them after we left and hope to return soon! This place is special and they are continually working to improve it. Definitely go here, it’s a GEM!

Ron was wonderful host! We loved camping at dancing creek and would consider staying again. We stayed here on our way from Portland to Crater lake. We requested camp 1 but since both sites were avalible for our duration ron recommended we check out site 2 and see if we would like it, which we did. The property is massive, we saw(and dipped in) the creek, ron's garden, and a meadow up the hill. The view from the medow was spectacular. One of the best parts was just chatting with ron he made us feel welcome and was just a really cool guy. Also we got to see the cows just before we left.

James and Linda were the most gracious hosts! When we arrived James gave us a tour and showed us the different swimming holes (which were absolutely breathtaking and easily accessible). Our kids built forts and overall has the best time. It was an amazing stay for our family and very kid friendly. It is quiet and my two kids had a great time hearing the sounds of nature, picking plums off of the trees, swimming and having space to be kids. James was very responsive to our needs and quick to solve any issue we had. We are already thinking through all of the people we want to bring back to this amazing place! Thank you James and Linda!

I split my time between the cozy studio rental and the RV sites, and both were fantastic in their own ways. The studio is beautifully designed! Clean, comfortable, and full of thoughtful touches like a little bistro table, adorable mushroom wall art, a super comfy bed, and a gorgeous tiled shower. The kitchen area is small but mighty, with everything you need (including fun mini appliances!) to cook a simple meal. A mini fridge and microwave onsite, too, and clean!
The property itself is peaceful and surrounded by towering trees, which makes it feel tucked away from everything. The gravel RV sites are spacious, level, and have a nice mix of sun and shade, plus picnic tables and easy access to trash, power, & water!.
One of my favorite parts was exploring the trails, swimming hole and waterfall, LITERALLY steps away from camp! I can't believe this was all for my private use while I stayed!
The hosts James & Linda are so kind, and clearly take great care of the property and take so much pride in being hosts! They had a few snacks and drinks stocked in the studio, and even cozy music playing to welcome me. So sweet of them!! :')
This spot is great as a comfortable basecamp for adventures or a relaxing forest escape! I'm already planning my next "artist getaway" here; it's the perfect spot to disappear for a few days and create. I’ll definitely be back!

This is the second time I've stayed at The Farm at Castle Rock. It is a peaceful and beautiful place with abundant wildlife and with plentiful birdhouses and bird feeders. The grounds and facilities are clean and well-tended. Each of the three campsites are well-separated from each other for maximum privacy.

This is a beautiful camp. There’s a water hole for summer dips. Handcrafted fire rings. Cute cows and calves sometimes. Beautiful walkways for hikes in the woods. Blackberries in the summertime. The Host Ron is kind and personable, very hospitable. I was privileged enough to get a tour of his glorious garden, greenhouse and orchards. But didn’t take pictures of that as I wasn’t sure if the gated private area was for public viewing. Every time we visit it’s an adventure on this amazing Hipcamp property. Thank you Ron!

What a great place!! We really enjoyed the peace and quiet, privacy and close proximity to great hikes. It’s clear that Richard really cares about the land, and there were a lot of nice touches he added to the sites, like the platforms, chairs and private outhouses. Best camping experience ever! We were spoiled with the serene, spacious beauty all around at Shelter at Castle Rock Farm. Our 2 dogs enjoyed the walks and visiting the fish pond on the property, too!
Richard’s craftsmanship and respect for nature are evident throughout the well designed and equipped campsites. He generously upgraded us to the “Big Maple” site with an already set up large tent nestled under a beautiful tree. We had the place all to ourselves for the one night stay and wished to have stayed longer. Such a peaceful place to relax and unwind.

Where to go
The Lakes and Reservoirs of Lane County
Oakridge is near plenty of fantastic spots for fishing and boating, including Elijah Bristow State Park, Dexter Lake, Fall Creek Reservoir, and Lookout Point Lake, all within a 30- to 45-minute drive of Oakridge. Just south of town, Hills Creek Lake offers around 44 miles of shoreline and three boat ramps.
Eugene and Around
Less than an hour's drive from Oakridge, Eugene—Oregon's second-largest city—offers a well-rounded mix of cultural centers, natural areas, restaurants, and breweries. It’s also the gateway for the southernmost part of Oregon’s celebrated Willamette Valley wine country.
On the McKenzie River
A tributary of the Willamette River, the McKenzie River is popular for fishing, boating, and rafting. The surrounding region is also home to some of Oregon's finest hot springs, including Terwilliger Hot Springs and Belknap Hot Springs.
When to go
Like elsewhere in western Oregon, the weather in Oakridge is at its most pleasant in the summer months, when temperatures tend to be warm (with highs in the 70s or low 80s) and the chance of rain is at its lowest. If you're in the area for camping and want good weather without the summer vacation crowds, consider visiting in September, after Labor Day.
