Learn more about our land: In the heart of Willamette Valley AVA and on a breezy 20-acre lot of land we provide a space for you to set yourself up and enjoy life's natural bounty. We offer a small shared space with a wood fire stove and some essential items, many games (such as horseshoes), and lots of picnic areas and tables sprinkled throughout the property. The location is central and half an hour to just minutes away from water bodies Hagg Lake, Nestucca River, Yamhill River, little Niagara Falls, Mill Creek, Baker Creek, Rainbow Lake and more… Such as the Carlton public pool. If your looking to jaunt from camp a little further, we are located a little over an hour and a beautiful drive to the Pacific Coast and about an hour from Portland. Although in the middle of the country woods, we are surprisingly only two and a half miles from the adorable and quaint town of Carlton. So beside the views, you’ll be alongside some fantastic eateries and outstanding winemakers.  Being raised in the community, and over ten years of experience in the local food and wine industry, I can give recommendations aplenty.   ꕥ  The property has been in our family since the late 60’s and has recently been transferred in ownership to the next generation! It’s been a large adjustment with many precious memories in tow. Whitney was great and very helpful. I. stayed in the grove of trees and it was gorgeous! A lot of options for camp sites, great view, and quiet. There was a basketball court, volleyball net, and dodgeball, plenty of fire pits, and games and fun activities in the little glass house. Would stay again, may bring a group this summer

The sites are all very unique. We loved out stay. Lots of salmon making a run up river right now. It was very cool to watch the salmon and also a big group of kayakers going by. Sites were clean. Wish we would have added the sauna add on. They looked really neat.

What an amazing find. Dave was so accommodating in the space is great, especially if you have dogs. It’s basically his very big backyard completely fenced in. Convenient to Portland, convenient to mount Hood. Made some new friends with a couple who was camping there when we got there. Dave even filled my water tanks before I left.

We absolutely loved our time at Celestine Fields. We showed up late after dark and the property owners sweet dog literally guided us to the campsites. We had a stunning view along with a magical sunrise, and our dog loved exploring the area. We met the property owner for a brief time, and she was very kind and welcoming. We also had a neighbor who was camping there for a longer stay and he was the sweetest guy. Overall recommend this Hipcamp and also recommend arriving while there’s still light out as it was hard to find the best spot for us in the dark! We explored the cute town of Carlton a bit and went wine tasting at Résonance up the road. Recommend doing the same!

Where to go

The Columbia River Gorge

Just outside of Fairview, the Columbia River Gorge is home to some of the most spectacular scenery in the Pacific Northwest. Here you’ll find miles of wooded hiking trails, great vantage points, and plenty of scenic waterfalls.

Along the Clackamas River

South of Fairview, the Clackamas River is popular for fishing and whitewater rafting. There are also plenty of swimming holes along the river for cooling off during hot summer months.

Portland

While Portland isn’t exactly a place to camp, it is home to some spectacular scenery, great outdoor stores, and famous food. If you’ve had enough of camp fare and want something a bit more gourmet, you’ll be well taken care of—even the famous food cart pods in town offer food worth writing home about.

When to go

If you’re coming to Fairview, it’s probably with the intention of visiting the Columbia Gorge, which is beautiful throughout the year. Hiking conditions are at their best in the summer when the chance of rain is at its lowest, though this is also the busiest time so be prepared for crowds and, potentially, a lack of parking. Springtime is a good alternative if you don’t mind the rain—the waterfalls are at their fullest in the pre-summer months, too.
